I saw it and just had to search the comments about this
Haha..
Just like in the film eight legged freaks with the toxic waste barrels 😂😂
Spook did so much acid in Manchester in the 90s he's learned to clean motorbikes with it
Didn't we all?
its a good tip tho, need to try it on my exhaust.
I love how the guy took his time off of his job, tried so hard to show us how to care for our bikes under 90 degrees melting sun and is getting roasted relentlessly in the comment section.
@Berk Aydin its almost like the internet doesn't care about people.
@@lovelessissimo wow I wrote the original comment a year ago? Jeeeezaaasss
Definitely top to bottom and don’t pressure wash your ‘burrings’ when Spook says ‘tea’ he means dinner. I hope he has a permit to be south of the Watford gap
He got lost on the M25 a few decades back and never found the M1 again so just stayed down south
hes got a note off his mum
Straight from wheels to bodywork, sure what a great way to tell everyone how to wash your bike. Good job! 🤦
Top to bottom > front to back... common sense really.
Wheels, chain, engine first then deep clean all bike top to bottom... depends how long you want to spend
I don’t think I’ll ever get someone to clean my bike after watching this 😬
You know you've made it in life when your job is standing around eating an ice cream while watching someone else do the hard work.
wheels straight to fairings........ questionable
maccaz1991 not his bike is it.
That made my toes curl , posting a video on how to wash your motorcycle then going straight from filthy low down and dirty wheels up to paintwork .
Just sell it when it’s dirty then buy a shiny new one job done
He wore the beanie the whole time, what a champ! Love WD-40. San Diego company!
"two bucket system, one to wet one to wash" integrity lost right there, go back North 😂
Unless he meant wet and wash the sponge 🤷🏼♂️
@@RyanJM90 Nah! he does it all wrong, front to back too, always top to bottom. He also used the same sponge for the wheels, and still used it on the paint work, no professional valeter, let alone detailer. And this video is meant to be a tutorial he should do it right, and be clear when explaining.
Acid on the exhaust - no.
Same sponge for the bodywork as the wheels - no.
1 bucket method - no.
Washing in direct sunlight - no.
How not to wash a bike.

Is the exhaust solid metal....yes
Does it look better........yes
Have I been using it on my 18yr old bike.......yes
Does it look better........yes
Fall asleep listening to you.......yes!
you clearly don't understand much.
Acid on the Exhaust - Yes...how do you think iron removers work? I think you need to brush up on your chemistry and how chemicals work on different contamination and surfaces .
Same Sponge for bodywork and wheels - it can be done...you need to degrease and cleaner the wheels first before a mitt wash.
1 bucket - yes... Because 2 buckets means absolutely fuck all when it comes down to HOW much water you have, particle breakdown and bouyancy of particles .
Washing in direct sunlight - it's unavoidable at times but as Spook says....keep the bike cool.
I always love when a weekend warrior tries to dictate how shit should be done yet doesn't even do if right themselves!
Yours sincerely,
A Professional Detailer and Trainer with 2 Companies and Multiple Awards and Accreditations 👌
@@midenking9651 mad ego mate. Not all iron removers are acid based. And yeah you're correct that other things can be done if necessary but they clearly have the resources to have 2 buckets, a grit guard and some shade. All they're doing is showing you how to increase the risk of damaging your paint.
@@mikefandango3343 sleep well mate
Miden King I don’t think you get my point. You Boring
, Boring man!
I learned alot from this how to was a bike video. Answer : get someone else to do it
When I saw my previous bike looking like new in the showroom I wondered how they got the exhaust collector box looking so good.
Well done guys! Chris massive respect for opening up. I've been a long time fan of 44 & also a long time sufferer of my own mental health issues. Over the past 2 years & more you can't imagine how much your vids have been the highlight of my week / month... A distraction from the doom & monotony of what's going on around us. You touched on some poignant points in this vid and I can't commend you enough for having the balls to say this on camera. Too many suffer in silence until unfortunately its too late. Keep up the content, keep up the honesty and keep being you. Hope to see you, Al & Boothy for the 44th b-day bash! Peace & love brothers 🤘
ohhh the detailing gods are foaming at the mouth watching this! ahaha
7.42 I definitely thought Chris was going to go full Alan Partridge and ask about his time in the army!!
I can’t believe how much I’m enjoying watching someone wash a bike👌🏻👍
Cheers for this, especially the chain cleaning info. I’ve used chain cleaner and one of those chain cleaner brushes and I’ve never been able to actually get a clean chain, seeing the guy use an actual ton of chain cleaner and scouring pad has opened my eyes to what is actually required. Self teaching myself the small bike maintenance stuff is hard when people on UA-cam etc can’t do it to a professional level themselves. 👍🏻👍🏻
Surface rust isn't going to hurt your chain. What really matters is keeping the o-rings lubricated and some of the center bearings that contact the sprockets.
as a detailer im cringing, but i suppose its a ok cleaning routine for the non ocd normal guy 👍 love your chanel
Same sponge on wheels as with paintwork 💀
If you have any alternative recommendations feel free to share as I’m keen to learn a decent approach
@@majordelays4909 I haven't washed a bike with anything but a light spray cleaner and a microfiber cloth in over 10 years, or a citrus cleaner and plastic razor for the really stuck on stuff. I never wipe the bike with the same cloth as the wheels, and use a specific brush and chain cleaner kit for the nasty stuff. Heavy scrub brushes or steel wool for the tires.. If I ever end up in a rain situation, I take the wheels off and clean the hubs and apply fresh lube to the axles and chain.
Hey mate so could you show us how to do it properly please
Spook delivered our 848 Streetfighter to us a while ago, really nice bloke. 👍
LCD cleaner from most pound shops does a great job of cleaning tft screens, plus tyre back to black is great wiped over black plastics used on wing mirrors and indicators.
Learnt some stuff there, thanks! So what type of acid was that on the exhaust?
I've been using Autoglym instant show shine for 15 years now. Highly recommend it
And what bolt went missing on mine so far I have lost two screen bolts and the left grip bolt lol
Love you guys.... but that is probably the worst "How to wash your motorcycle" advice video I've ever seen! Top to bottom and NEVER go from brakes to tank!!!!
Part of me was thinking this was a wind up!!
Great vid as always. Entertaining Learning.
Just to state the obvious, you clean the Chain then wheels then the swingarm to get all the wax off.... then wash the bike
Eugene Schenck Then I’m not alone.
Great video guys!
Always good idea to wash your bike or car in the sun!
Especially having a tent nearby....
Thanks for that one. A nice 44 Teeth alternative from the usual. Very therapeutic watching a professional scrubber fall to their knees to get down and dirty.
Harpic black works a treat on exhaust headers amd pipes 👍
the acid wizzard thing...!!! first time I see that. It's beautiful!
I always do the chain first (obviously) but also bug splatter remover for the front and degreaser on chain guard/wheels/frame first.
Later it all comes off when you spray and rub in the soap rather.
WD-40 to clean chain fling off the rear rim is very true
Top tips, thank you! :)
Any tips for those "gone beyond believe" exhaust headers? Linkpipes on my SV1000 look mint but the header look like they are from 1980.
Just a heads up...
-always work from top to bottom (bottom will be dirtiest and will make it easy to scratch paint)
-Cover or remove seats as water will help break down foam much faster and may develop mold
- Use 2 buckets when washing (one for washing off larger dirt, other for finer material)
How do I wash the seats (just pollen rn)
@@gagedery3592 damp towel id say would do the trick then. wipe off with a dry towel and then leather protection depenting on what seat you have
Chris. What was the acid and how much should you dilute it?
Has Spook got any tips or recommends any products for a matte finish bike?
I wasn't going to mention it when I heard it said twice near the start, but it's written in the description too - myths are not expelled, they are dispelled.
Can we get a bit more information on the product used to clean the titanium exhaust?
Aerospace 303 for dressing plastic with a matt finish 👍🏻
Pressure washer could bend the fins in the radiator, so don't push it up against the radiator to blast flys.
big tip< get a brush called an ez detail wheel brush. big wide and soft bristle and fits every where. game changer for bike wheels, saves so much time
Bought a couple of stickers off your website a couple weeks ago and still not got them ? Any idea on when I can expect them :)
What's your daily ride Fagan? Also is that an XL OR L you have on (hopefully xl as have ordered the L said colourway!)
What’s the stuff u use on it? The spray stuff?
Cool trick with cleaning the exhaust ! I thought you just had to polish it out by hand. Shows how much I don't know. So is this new mid sized Aprilia rs660 in the works for demo by you guys soon I hope? ✌
Never knew the acid trick. Every day's a learning day. Cheers !
Harpic Power Plus works a treat, brush it on, clean it off.
Metal polish and wire wool would work the same, not really into the idea of caustic chemicals ma self
although harpic does work, however, the type of acid used in it brings steel particles to the surface and causes more rusting.
Indeed...Acid removes rust/oxidation and Caustic removes grease.
@@krishampton7060 make sure it's stainless wire wool or else you'll accelerate oxidation
so what was the exact acid with water mixture used for the exhaust?
the diluted acid on the exhaust, never knew about that and that is a crazy change. took it right off
After washing always use ACF-50 all area's of electrical and where he used wd-40. I used jet wash coin operated versions, and it fubar my pc-3 on my 954RR Fireblade.
What kind of acid did you use for the exhaust?
Is that Teapot's GS by any chance?
What us name of acid? Is it safe if oversprayed on fairings?
I've never had a problem with a jetwash with the exception of a heated one taking some paint off a CBR400RR front mudguard. It was an import and the only time I've used a heated one if that made any difference.
Best way to clean those Beamer screens is using tv LED screen cleaner - that works in a jiffy. Top tip!
"Never go in dry" 😅😂🤣. At about 6:55 I'm not a fan of throwing stuff away when you can reuse it. The rag that's used near the greasy areas such as the chain and bearings can be left to soak in fairy liquid or stronger soap. Wring it out and just reuse that cloth just for that particular area. A silicone dish washing pad can be reused for the chain instead of scotchbrite.
If stuff like that is chucked away it'll just go straight to landfill, or even worse, the Oceans.
It's pure joy riding around this Planet innit, well little things all add up to take care of it 👍
What acid do you use? And what ratio with water?
Lovely!
As a VW nerd can we have a look at the van please?
Love the background music.
What camera and lens did you guys film this with?
Saw this video when it was new and I still don't know what type of acid he used. Can you please list it in the video description? Read lots of comments, funny, but haven't found it yet.
what is that accid ? On his exhaust? Where can i buy some sort of products ?
Always good to expel some moths.
7:54 that's about a fiver's worth of chain cleaner 😅
Any tips for after getting stuck in the rain?
I’d def do the bodywork with a new clean cloth and the other parts (wheels, forks etc) afterwards.
I'm curious how the 44Team feels about ACF50 or if you've used it? It's a product I came to know through another youtube cleaning vid. Apparently used on planes to prevent corrosion.
XCP is proven to be better in tests by a long way.
ACF 50 is good for electronic and inner trays.
People blindly apply it without actually understanding or Protection on the right parts.
Any tips on what to clean headers with? Mercans speak of ‘scotch brite’ but it’s not a variety of scotch I’ve seen
Harpic max 10 is brilliant for cleaning exhausts
Al's head is starting to resemble a Rhubarb and Custard sweet.
He's moving up in the world, soon to become 'The Maaaaartock Badgeerrrrr!'
I need some of that acid for the exhaust cleaning 😯
I think he said at 20:18 "Just a bit of diluted sulphur" for the acid.
What's the best way or best product to clean up (as best as possible) old corroded header pipes???
Phosphoric acid around 40% dilution. Heat will make the reaction work faster too.
Is that Bob the blue vw camper in the background.
Would vinegar work on the pipes in pace of acid?
What Acid does he use??
If I may add a top tip I got from the local suspension guru: after a ride clean the inner fork legs with a bit of silicone spray on a cloth (use brake cleaner on rotors if you're clumsy afterwards). The fork oil seals will thank you. (Good ol' WD40 is also good for this application, just don't polish them dry)
I only recently learned this while reading an Ohlins shop manual for my suspension. They suggest a thin film of WD40 after a wash or riding in the rain.
I learned this trick from mountain biking actually. Don't use regular lubricants because it may rot out the rubber seals on the lowers. Silicone spray is boss.
Brunox deo spray is the way to go for forks etc. Same effect as wd40 but not harming the rubber seals as do wd40.
Anyone know what kind of acid can be used for the exhaust?
This a good video! No bs about Muc Off overpriced products. Just no nonsense WD40 and cleaning like a normal person would!
What's the BMW in Dakar trim in the background?
Is Sue Perkins the voice over for the 212 trading adds?! Every time I hear the add all I can hear is Big Sue!
When I put my tail tidy on I wrapped the back of the numberplate in some matte black vinyl, looks better and doesn't show when it's dirty.
Black spray paint
Is it OK to use washing up liquid on ya bike ?
Why was not a "Montage Ständer" in use? And ...why are the Aerodynamiccovers on the Motorbike?
More of this guy please, he was very entertaining!
Dry clean microfiber cloth great for those dashes
Did we find out what acid it was ?
20:18 "Just a bit of diluted sulphur"
Jizz
Many use Harpic power plus, but I'd only use very occasionally to be sure that it doesn't eat through too much metal over time and cause weak spots that can easily rust away. It does wonders on old exhausts, removes all surface rust when painted on and cleaned of after a couple mins with water and a scotch brite.
“... diluted sulphur[ic acid]” ...
Diluted sulphuric acid which is what is used in batterys.
Any of yous tryed it.
What kind of acid was that? Diluted Massengill duche acid? Acid rain? Battery acid?
i use muc off on the wheels and swingarm ,brilliant stuff.
That diluted acid trick is a new one hahaha what does he use?? Would really like to try this on mine.
If using de greaser which parts, do you spray it on thanks 😊
The greasy bits that need cleaning.
I love the channel chaps , have been a subscriber from the start and possibly have watched all your videos . I'm not one for posting negative comments , if you've got nothing good to say , say nowt , and all that but , professional valeter , cleans bikes year in year out , knows how to do it right . I've got to say I'm a little surprised your endorsing this sort of behaviour ;:-)
Twister nice !
I'm looking forward to the mega test, I'm a bit of a fan boy so I hope you don't mind me politely introducing myself and talking bikes :)
Always use a Master Blaster!!! Helps to Ceramic Coat the bike also!!!
Hi. Where can I get a WD40 bobble hat. Thank you
This video is great! Now I'm going to go wax my carrot. Or shine my knob.
That was so therapeutic
