Steel Curtain isn't the world's 2nd largest lawn ornament. Formula Rossa holds that title, albeit by a small margin.

It’s an addition that shouldn’t be removed, it’s a great and smooth ride.
I heard that before Steel Curtain, Kennywood was planning to build a terrain based RMC. I hope they revisit the idea. Phantom's Revenge is reason alone to visit Kennywood.
This is true. There are still plans for it on the internet. It didn't work out for a few reasons. First of all, the valley is technically in a different borough and they wouldn't grant the building permit. Also, 2017 through 2018 was a very very rainy year and there were a lot of landslides in Pennsylvania so a terrain coaster would've been a little risky.
Yes kennywood needs the steel curtain. It shortens the lines of the phantom,black widow and the exterminator. And I get to call out every inversion on the rides name.

@@SkyrushFanboy when the ride is open most of the people that ride the phantom go to the steel curtain. There is a big difference of phantom wait times when the Steel Curtain is open vs closed.

Miss living in western PA near kennywood. Great simple park with decent line ups.
Hopefully Steel Curtain will get fixed and reopened by 2025 to become more reliable.

I went in August. I loved my visit even though Steel Curtain and Skyrocket were down. Phantom’s Revenge and Thunderbolt were my two standouts

The curtain was a nice attempt, but let it go. My favorote part of it was all the people that were like, "i don't like sportsball so this whole thing is dumb." 😂 personally I'm still mad about the removal of Pit Fall. 😂
I need to get a second ride on Jack Rabbit. The one chance I had, I got the back car, and I got stapled. How do you staple somebody with a seat belt? That's what I was wondering, but the ride op yanked it way tight, and the double-down did nothing for me.
Kennywood is my home park and while you say to take the back ow on the jackrabbit I prefer mid to front row. last time i was in the back I was thrashed around so hard I had a back sprain for weeks.
phantom is so tempermental, sometimes its worldclass and sometimes its so world class you almost die(in a good way)
im the smallest of my freinds so i never have to get squished on thunderbolt and it slaps

The trims on sky rocket effect the ride way more when it’s cold and the trains are half empty

Do you think they don't need it? With Kennywood being my home park, I feel Steel Curtain is definitely needed. Kennywood is a quirky park with decent historical flats and some modern flats. As far as coasters, Phantom is really the only thrill coaster in the park. You have great woodies, an indoor coaster, and a moderate thrill coaster with Skyrocket, but you definitely need another top scale coaster imo. Kennywood is a lot of fun without Curtain, but Curtain definitely helps make it more fun

@@AirtimeThrills oh I see what you mean now. I'm glad you guys had a good time. Black Widow is a prototype, so unfortunately the ops are bad because of the ride itself and not necessarily the ride operators. At least that's what I was told.
Yeah, on my US tour this year I definitely liked Kennywood a lot, but it was missing another standout, with that looming structure of yellow and black reminding you of that.
I didn't entirely expect the hype to be true of Phantoms Revenge, but that ride has no business being that good. Also how can it be that smooth... and it is already telling you that before you even get on as there is no vibration at all when it leaves the station.
Also Skyrocket needs a better second half.

As my home park: no. They don't. It's number 4 in the park at best.
But honestly this is the least of KW's problems. The park is horribly ran, so many ride closures and early park closures, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Screw palace entertainment.
Hopefully they'll sell it off in the near future.

@@michaelbruzina6835My Dad grew up in Mission Beach San Diego near another geriatric woodie, Giant Dipper at Belmont Park, which turns 100 next year. Coincidentally his mother lived to be 100. For her 100th birthday on April 28, 2011 he drove his mother and sister around their old stomping grounds in Mission Beach while I went to the zoo. I wish I had gone on the Giant Dipper instead. I've only been to Belmont Park once in 2006. I hope to get back again soon to go to the park and swim in the Pacific again.
My 1st comment was made before watching. Speaking of which: I almost forgot about Six Flags Great America, which in 1981 opened American Eagle; the last wooden coaster to break the drop record which would hold for over seven years when Shockwave opened at the same park. But to be honest: I didn't actually forget, since I'm not convinced Shockwave had a bigger drop than Bandit in Japan (which opened earlier that year) of which there are no drop stat available. But it seems plausible enough to me to be likely that the largest drop on Bandit is more than 155'. But I digress:
After watching: Lil' Phantom by Molina and Sons is a clone (if not an actual literal transplant) of what was originally called Lil' Screamer at Great Adventure until 1979 when its name got changed to Lil' Thunder when Rolling Thunder was built. I remember riding it on my 1st visit to Great Adventure during a rainstorm in summer 1977 with my parents and younger brother who was just under 5 years old then. He'd ride it screaming (as a joke) "My car! My car!" and we all thought it was funny and cute. I believe it's the smallest gravity powered coaster I've ridden, possibly tying with a temporary one I rode in the town square of Nottingham in October 2019. Thanks for posting this video!
Kennywood is my home park, I'm 6'6" so I was unable to ride steel curtain anyways.

So kennywood has started brining in materials and now machinery over near curtain so I expect work to start soon. Looks like they’ll be putting in either new or additional footers. They had what looked like a large drilling rig parked over there last weekend.
A park employee riding on their day off last week told me row 3 is the best airtime on Thunderbolt. Gave it a shot and it was definitely noticeably more than riding row 1 earlier in the night.
Love the videos, just wish you release them in order, little confusing watching the coaster counts go back and forth.
I mean Kennywood paid som much 💰 for Steel Curtain so .... taking a year off to fix it is worth it.
But this year wasn't good for coasters: SC and TT2 being SBNO; delayed protects until 2025 (Flash at Great Adventure) and reports of new B&M's being rough (Iron Menace)

At least it opened. In August, they closed the park for the whole day because of a 10% chance of rain, and it never rained. So I went to Waldameer, then came back to Kennywood the next day on Saturday. Thunderbolt had a 22-hour line, but Phantoms Revenge was 15 minutes. Jack Rabbit's double-down was so much stronger this time than it was on my 2022 rides.
Being this is my home park, I go a lot and have a great time even without SC. I am glad you and the girls enjoyed your visit.

Kennywood is awesome at keeping the old and bringing in the new.
In this video, Sky Rocket's walk-up song was the best surprise for me. The Soul that is Collective have lots of great banger hits.
Kennywood is the original multi coaster drop record breaking park, the other two being Magic Mountain and Cedar Point.
I went to Kennywood one day in July 2023.
- Steel Curtain was (surprisingly) open. And it was my favorite ride in the park.
- Aero 360 was down all year after it got stuck upside down in 2022.
- Black Widow was also closed.
Steel Curtain needs to succeed. I would honestly like more coasters like it in terms of ride experience. As of now i think there's one other coaster with any similarities (and I rode that last June).
It's hilarious to say that the Racer is the newest wooden roller coaster at Kennywood despite the fact that it opened almost one hundred years ago.
It's like Steel Curtain, Top Thrill, and Top Thrill 2 are all members of a special club. A very evil, evil, but special club.
As someone who's homepage is Kennywood, yes. Most people i know skipped going this year do to the ride being closed. Phantom is amazing but having another big Steel Rollarcoaster is something the park needed for years
They should just scrap it, Sue S&S and replace it with a Vekoma Suspended Thrill Coaster
