At a not great time in my life, I was in relationship with someone who tried to make me put on weight by making or ordering really rich food and guilting me if I didn't eat as much as they wanted me to eat. For context at the time I was at an average weight and they were overweight. For this person it was about control. They wanted me to gain weight to be like them. They recognized that my body was more "conventionally attractive" and they wanted to take that from me so it would be harder for me to leave them. They didn't have an obvious fetish like Tammy's ex boyfriend but when I confided in them that I had gained weight they baked me a cake and threw me a party. It was fucking weird.

I love that baby, and I absolutely love Chris! Good thing (for the sweet little baby) Tammy won't be around long to be a bad influence on little baby boy (I think it's a boy, or am I wrong? Whatever). The rest of the family is doing the right thing, getting healthier and all. They KNOW how it's like to be this morbidly obese, and them working hard to become healthy is great. I'm sure that'll help them a lot with raising a healthy baby.. Tammy on the other hand.. If the village is positive and healthy, perfect! If the village is filled with people like Tammy.. not good. Putting it mildly, here. Look.. I'm not wishing death on anyone.. (well, a few certain people in my personal life is a different story for way too valid reasons, but that's another story). It's just that, Tammy's inviting her own demise VERY willingly, so I have no sympathy at all. My father used to be just as big when I was a young kid growing up. He always knew that if he kept going, he'd die. It broke his heart not being able to play with me and my brother growing up and all the other disabilities that comes with morbid obesity. He was extremely depressed, and him having to sit on the couch all day, eating his feelings, being disappointed, frustrated and angry with himself for "failing" his kids was the thing that broke the camel's back. Fortunately. He ended up taking pre-surgery courses to learn about nutrition and living healthy. Once he'd lost a certain amount of weight, he got approved for a double bypass surgery. I was 11 at this point, and my brother was 13. After this, he felt so liberated! He started running, jogging, cycling, we got a dog and everything. He stuck religiously to a diet(/lifestyle change) and an exercise-regime for a very long time. He's in much better shape than me despite obvs still being a lot heavier than me, a 1.70 m in height and around 50-60 kg (fluctuating weight) young, 23 y/o woman. He's 1.80 m in height, not sure about his weight, but he's very healthy. He couldn't afford the post skin removal-surgery, so he still appears to be big/fat/obese, but that's just skin. If he'd gotten the skin removal surgery, he'd be a very slim man! Well, a regular, muscular, with a regular "dad-body". He's perfectly fine with the extra skin, tho. It doesn't bother him, and he lost the weight for his health and for his kids. If he didn't go through with all the hard work, he would've been dead before I'd even turn around 15-17 y/o. Now, he's able to live his full life, with the ability of living to his 70's to 80's (if not even more. You never really know, if we leave out the fact that some people, despite being healthy, die younger to due accidents and such, his life span is now just as good as anyone else's average "age limit" of a man in his demographic. He used to have diabetes type 2, which went away almost immidiatly after the surgery. He had severe sleep apnea, but that also went away almost right after the surgery. I couldn't more proud and grateful. He's such a success story, and I'm lucky to have him as a father and role model. So, I guess you can imagine how pissed and angry I am with the stupid "HAES" aka science deniers- people. They're promoting death. They're promoting kids losing their parents, or other family members. They're promoting hurt, pain and denial, just to not have to deal with reality. If you want to stay in your little HAES-bubble, FINE. Go pick out your big a$$ coffin, they're expensive so better save up. Your family shouldn't have to be the ones paying for you not being able to fit in regular coffins. You did that to yourself, you've hurt your family and other loved ones too much already, to have them pay for your bad, entitled and willfully ignorant choices. I wish they realized all of this. They may know, but they're just too BIG (pun 100% intended) cry babies, wannabe-victims to do anything about it. Instead of blaming themselves, the only one they rightfully can blame, they blame all other people and everything else. They're too weak to face reality, and don't want to realize/admit that they are fully to blame themselves. Smh. Just go ahead and eat yourself away, leave all your loved ones in despair. Selfish bit$es.

I disagree. Tammy has been steadily gaining weight since she was a kid. She's had people "yelling/hating" on her for years on her youtube channel telling her to kiss weight, giving suggestions, trying so many different ways to spell it out to her that she needs help and all she has ever done is yell at people, pretend to be a victim while being a absolute bitch to everyone around her. With or without this show she would still be this weight right now. Only difference is that we actually know her weight instead of guessing it. Also her siblings are doing beautifully well with the help from this show that they would not a gotten without it so this show has actually done a lot more good then I thought it would when it was first announced. I'm not surprised tammy is fail, I would have fallen over in shock if she did as well as her sister to be honest.
Tammy is not a nice person. Weight is hard to lose, so my first thought is to feel sorry for anyone who has trouble with it. If you look at the family, she's obviously gotten a bad genetic deal. But she is just not nice in any way. I am not sure why her family is making such an effort when she refuses to make any of her own.

I guess so. And also, to me that weird "just giving up" that you wouldn't understand normally is exactly what depression looks like. I have dealt with it myself, I have seen lots of other people deal with it, and you don't say "you're trying to end your life? What the hell? Go into a clinic, no sympathy!" Long story short, I think that Tammy is very, very ill in multiple ways and she should be forced to go into a clinic where she can slowly get her life back together, instead of being around those people that have done nothing wrong but that still make her feel bad and being subjected to lots and lots of hate on TV. It is sad, it is frustrating, it is annoying, but I will never believe that people are truely at fault for their actions when they are very ill, just like with crimes. And I don't believe that anyone would severely harm themselves while not being ill.

I have PTSD, agoraphobia, 2 wrecked rotator cuffs and psoratic arthritis..I still am managing to walk my butt around the block with my dog everyday. I was an emotional eater. Healthy mind. I don't think she is doing it on purpose. Or maybe in some sick, twisted kind of way fueled by mental illness, but I don't think anyone harms themselves on purpose. There is always some serious problem at the bottom of stuff like that. If she was mentally healthy, she wouldn't want to die early anymore than you do, at least I firmly believe that. And that applies to all kinds of destructive behaviors. But there are situations where such a person just doesn't get it an can't help themselves and noone else can either because nobody really gets through to them. I could also imagine her being jealous though, that is something I felt a lot when I was very depressed once. Maybe it would help her to get off TV and into some very good psych ward somewhere.

And the way you talk about it, it feels like you know you have a problem, you know help is availible, but you have no idea how to do that first step and sometimes you say things you regret. What I love about Amy is that since they left their first appointment she has done nothing but try to make little positive adjustments as much as she can. The first fast food meal they had after their appointment she swapped fried chicken with grilled chicken and instead of fries got a side salad with low fat dressing & a fruit cup (to her knowledge, the best way to make fast food healthy). She got little exercise equipment & even the dancing game to get her and Tammy moving. She also went through all those pregnancy cravings still focusing on bettering herself. I love the attitude she went into this with and believe her being positive and looking forward to figuring out what healthy options she had resulted in her success.
Yeah it was so satisfying and motivating to see her improve but Tammy is just letting herself be left behind while everyone is improving themselves and moving on with their lives.
I'm proud to say, from January 2020 to now, I'm down a total of 46lbs!!! From 217lbs to 171lbs. 🙃 its not that hard to "try" what I found to be the hardest part is telling myself "no" to the junk foods, and that extra dr. Pepper... and reminding myself to drink water... I hate water, but I add a lemon slice. So its all good
I feel so sorry for brother Chris, he feels bad while Tammy is solely responsible for herself. And the doctor - it must be so hard to see a person kill themselves and not be able to convince them to help themselves.
My fiance is almost 300lbs and i started taking him to the gym with me. He struggles with binge eating but has gotten better at controlling it. Sometimes he will feel the need to binge and I'll talk him out of it and remind him he doesnt need it. He is starting to fit into his shirts again and he says he is feeling better each day
Tell him to keep it up. I was 300lb when I decided to change and I lost 125lb in just over a year. Just keep reminding him how much better he feels every time he loses a little weight. Lots of respect for you Amber for been there for him and encouraging him you’re a good a woman and he’s a lucky man.

When I was in my early 20's I had a friend(not friend anymore) try to set me up with a chubby chaser. Like LEGIT referred to himself as such. I politely declined and said friend went off on me? "Why don't you want him, he like big girls like you, he thinks that's hot, you always complain about being single!" Because sweetheart I don't like my body. I don't wanna be heavy forever, I don't want some creep fetishizing my fat body.

I’ve started losing weight by looking at the things I want, closing my eyes, and imagining who would eat that. Sometimes when I want a piece of cake, I close my eyes and imagine Tammy eating it. I stopped eating cake 😂.

I'm a man 1m78 in october last year I was in the highest weight I never been: 95kg (~209lbs) then I've lost 12kg (~26,4lbs). So yes.. even me with not so much to lose I did it..

As a formerly pretty overweight 22 year old I almost get panik attacks when I see her, I feel so bad. Imagine being a prisoner in your own flesh, feeling ashamed all day, not being able to move, in pain and being trapped in a vicious cycle.
I was almost 300lbs and I get the same panicky feeling. I know how stuck she must feel sometimes but her lack of self awareness mitigates any feelings of sympathy I have. Her attitude is so shit and it’s like she doesn’t care. Part of me relates but be glad we didn’t end up like that ❤️

Even if it comes at the expense of her health, the happiness of herself and her family, and the very few relationships she seems to have left in her life. It makes me disgusted because I had 6 strokes in 3 areas of my brain and I’m very physically limited , yet I still try really hard to get some exercise in so I can lose weight. Some people are just a lost cause .
No need to be disgusted with her, because she is only hurting herself (and I guess her family) and at least she isn’t promoting her lifestyle and getting others to do the same. It is irritating that she does get so much help and support (and are there financial rewards to being on the show?) which is largely wasted, when there are others more deserving and who would be more likely to succeed. However, there is a price to pay in the form of the negative aspects of fame, e.g. public ridicule. People can have all the help in the world, but when it comes down to it, they have to put in the effort. It is great that you are working so hard and I hope that you manage to achieve your goals.
So I get this. I have mostly gotten control of a restrictive eating disorder but not before it ate a small portion of my heart and now I have arrhythmia. My heart is luckily healthy still, but palpitations are ongoing and relentless and make me feel like there’s a trapped hummingbird in my chest. And I also sometimes feel like I can’t get enough oxygen in a breath (which isn’t actually happening. My pulse ox is fine. But it’s because my brain knows my heart is acting the fool and convinces itself that I can’t get a good breath. So even though my blood oxygen is fine, my brain insists it can’t be, and I experience symptoms of mild anoxia sometimes. Dizzy. Fainting. Nausea. Gasping. Fun times.) this is my life until I die. Or until 3D printing can make me a new… lots of organs and solve this problem for me. Which is obviously the goal. And I work out every day. Hour of cardio. Half hour of weights. And i have to eat well. It’s so stupid. I got to a pretty ugly weight but I was nowhere near as extreme as I could have been. (Boourns - I’m kidding. Mostly. It’s a complex topic.) but this woman is literally severely extreme. She’s a bizarro world Eugenia Cooney. She’s sick as hell. She needs to put her health ahead of her addiction. She’s going to fucking die.
I was 280, felt disappointed. Stopped eating, and would feel nauseous when I thought of food, even when I was starving. I was scared I'd become an*rexic, but I eventually forced myself to eat (a healthy portion). And in the span of a couple months I've lost 30 pounds, I'm now 250. I hope I continue to lose more, in a healthy way of course. Anyone who needs to hear it, I hope you get through it and reach your goals 😌😁👏🏼
Yeah the healthy way is important. I lost 40 pounds honestly legit by starving and compulsive exercise and gained it back in 3 years. Ruined my metabolism and gained an eating disorder 🥲

Why isn't there a mandatory discipline in school such as nutrition? People will be aware of what they're doing without finding silly excuses and even claim "we are obese but perfectly healthy"
Honestly they should bring back home economics, with the amount of people who dont know how to cook for themselves and obesity mainly due to people always eating out, it would benefit a lot of people. Not to mention basic responsibilities like taxes, bills and finding work is lost in a lot of young people, its astonishing. But hey the education system and government could care less about teaching the youth of actual important knowledge you can use the rest of your life.

Tammy is exactly like my adoptive sister. Even down to hooking up with a guy who was in a relationship. Her weight was everyone else's problem except her own. She would cry at the drop of the hat and claimed doctors were harassing her. She died last year at over 600 lbs on the operation table because doctors couldn't roll her over in time. I have no sympathy no sympathy for Tammy.

My grandfather once hit 350 lbs, he’s now 180 lbs and turning 80 in a few months. He wouldn’t be alive if he hadn’t taken control of his weight, but because he did he has seen all his grandchildren graduate and he has met his great grandchildren.

At a not great time in my life, I was in relationship with someone who tried to make me put on weight by making or ordering really rich food and guilting me if I didn't eat as much as they wanted me to eat. For context at the time I was at an average weight and they were overweight. For this person it was about control. They wanted me to gain weight to be like them. They recognized that my body was more "conventionally attractive" and they wanted to take that from me so it would be harder for me to leave them. They didn't have an obvious fetish like Tammy's ex boyfriend but when I confided in them that I had gained weight they baked me a cake and threw me a party. It was fucking weird.

I love that baby, and I absolutely love Chris! Good thing (for the sweet little baby) Tammy won't be around long to be a bad influence on little baby boy (I think it's a boy, or am I wrong? Whatever). The rest of the family is doing the right thing, getting healthier and all. They KNOW how it's like to be this morbidly obese, and them working hard to become healthy is great. I'm sure that'll help them a lot with raising a healthy baby.. Tammy on the other hand.. (call me evil if you want, idc) would just be suuuuuch a bad influence, so it's good that she won't be around to poorly influence this sweet little baby. IF Tammy actually ends up on the right path, losing weight, that'd be amazing, and that baby would be better off with a good aunt.. ya know, it takes a village. That's a double edged sword, tho. Look.. I'm not wishing death on anyone.. (well, a few certain people in my personal life is a different story for way too valid reasons, but that's another story). It's just that, Tammy's inviting her own demise VERY willingly, so I have no sympathy at all.
My father used to be just as big when I was a young kid growing up. He always knew that if he kept going, he'd die. It broke his heart not being able to play with me and my brother growing up and all the other disabilities that comes with morbid obesity. He was extremely depressed, and him having to sit on the couch all day, eating his feelings, being disappointed, frustrated and angry with himself for "failing" his kids was the thing that broke the camel's back. Fortunately. He ended up taking pre-surgery courses to learn about nutrition and living healthy. Once he'd lost a certain amount of weight, he got approved for a double bypass surgery. I was 11 at this point, and my brother was 13. After this, he felt so liberated! He started running, jogging, cycling, we got a dog and everything. He stuck religiously to a diet(/lifestyle change) and an exercise-regime for a very long time. He's in much better shape than me despite obvs still being a lot heavier than me, a 1.70 m in height and around 50-60 kg (fluctuating weight) young, 23 y/o woman.
He's 1.80 m in height, not sure about his weight, but he's very healthy. He couldn't afford the post skin removal-surgery, so he still appears to be big/fat/obese, but that's just skin. If he'd gotten the skin removal surgery, he'd be a very slim man! Well, a regular, muscular, with a regular "dad-body". He's perfectly fine with the extra skin, tho. It doesn't bother him, and he lost the weight for his health and for his kids. If he didn't go through with all the hard work, he would've been dead before I'd even turn around 15-17 y/o. Now, he's able to live his full life, with the ability of living to his 70's to 80's (if not even more. You never really know, if we leave out the fact that some people, despite being healthy, die younger to due accidents and such, his life span is now just as good as anyone else's average "age limit" of a man in his demographic.
He used to have diabetes type 2, which went away almost immidiatly after the surgery. He had severe sleep apnea, but that also went away almost right after the surgery.
I couldn't more proud and grateful. He's such a success story, and I'm lucky to have him as a father and role model.
So, I guess you can imagine how pissed and angry I am with the stupid "HAES" aka science deniers- people. They're promoting death. They're promoting kids losing their parents, or other family members. They're promoting hurt, pain and denial, just to not have to deal with reality. If you want to stay in your little HAES-bubble, FINE. Go pick out your big a$$ coffin, they're expensive so better save up. Your family shouldn't have to be the ones paying for you not being able to fit in regular coffins. You did that to yourself, you've hurt your family and other loved ones too much already, to have them pay for your bad, entitled and willfully ignorant choices.
I wish they realized all of this. They may know, but they're just too BIG (pun 100% intended) cry babies, wannabe-victims to do anything about it. Instead of blaming themselves, the only one they rightfully can blame, they blame all other people and everything else. They're too weak to face reality, and don't want to realize/admit that they are fully to blame themselves. Smh.

Tammy has been steadily gaining weight since she was a kid. She's had people "yelling/hating" on her for years on her youtube channel telling her to kiss weight, giving suggestions, trying so many different ways to spell it out to her that she needs help and all she has ever done is yell at people, pretend to be a victim while being a absolute bitch to everyone around her.
With or without this show she would still be this weight right now. Only difference is that we actually know her weight instead of guessing it.
Also her siblings are doing beautifully well with the help from this show that they would not a gotten without it so this show has actually done a lot more good then I thought it would when it was first announced.

Tammy is not a nice person. Weight is hard to lose, so my first thought is to feel sorry for anyone who has trouble with it. If you look at the family, she's obviously gotten a bad genetic deal. But she is just not nice in any way. I am not sure why her family is making such an effort when she refuses to make any of her own.

I'm on my lifestyle change and have lost 140lbs in the last 2 yrs. I've kept it off. (Was 335lbs at my highest) I'm also still learning and changing. I have PTSD, agoraphobia, 2 wrecked rotator cuffs and psoratic arthritis..I still am managing to walk my butt around the block with my dog everyday. I was an emotional eater. Healthy mind. I don't think she is doing it on purpose. Or maybe in some sick, twisted kind of way fueled by mental illness, but I don't think anyone harms themselves on purpose. There is always some serious problem at the bottom of stuff like that.
If she was mentally healthy, she wouldn't want to die early anymore than you do, at least I firmly believe that. And that applies to all kinds of destructive behaviors.
But there are situations where such a person just doesn't get it an can't help themselves and noone else can either because nobody really gets through to them.

What I love about Amy is that since they left their first appointment she has done nothing but try to make little positive adjustments as much as she can. The first fast food meal they had after their appointment she swapped fried chicken with grilled chicken and instead of fries got a side salad with low fat dressing & a fruit cup (to her knowledge, the best way to make fast food healthy). She got little exercise equipment & even the dancing game to get her and Tammy moving. She also went through all those pregnancy cravings still focusing on bettering herself. I love the attitude she went into this with and believe her being positive and looking forward to figuring out what healthy options she had resulted in her success.
Yeah it was so satisfying and motivating to see her improve but Tammy is just letting herself be left behind while everyone is improving themselves and moving on with their lives.

From 217lbs to 171lbs. 🙃 its not that hard to "try" what I found to be the hardest part is telling myself "no" to the junk foods, and that extra dr. Pepper... and reminding myself to drink water... I hate water, but I add a lemon slice. So its all good

My fiance is almost 300lbs and i started taking him to the gym with me. He struggles with binge eating but has gotten better at controlling it. Sometimes he will feel the need to binge and I'll talk him out of it and remind him he doesnt need it. He is starting to fit into his shirts again and he says he is feeling better each day

I'm a man 1m78 in october last year I was in the highest weight I never been: 95kg (~209lbs) then I've lost 12kg (~26,4lbs). So yes.. even me with not so much to lose I did it..
It’s not easy for everyone to try losing weight though, especially if you’re depressed which Tammy kinda hints at.

As a formerly pretty overweight 22 year old I almost get panik attacks when I see her, I feel so bad. Imagine being a prisoner in your own flesh, feeling ashamed all day, not being able to move, in pain and being trapped in a vicious cycle.
I was almost 300lbs and I get the same panicky feeling. I know how stuck she must feel sometimes but her lack of self awareness mitigates any feelings of sympathy I have. Her attitude is so shit and it’s like she doesn’t care. Part of me relates but be glad we didn’t end up like that ❤️

It makes me disgusted because I had 6 strokes in 3 areas of my brain and I’m very physically limited , yet I still try really hard to get some exercise in so I can lose weight. Some people are just a lost cause .
No need to be disgusted with her, because she is only hurting herself (and I guess her family) and at least she isn’t promoting her lifestyle and getting others to do the same. It is irritating that she does get so much help and support (and are there financial rewards to being on the show?) which is largely wasted, when there are others more deserving and who would be more likely to succeed. However, there is a price to pay in the form of the negative aspects of fame, e.g. public ridicule.
People can have all the help in the world, but when it comes down to it, they have to put in the effort.
It is great that you are working so hard and I hope that you manage to achieve your goals.
So I get this. I have mostly gotten control of a restrictive eating disorder but not before it ate a small portion of my heart and now I have arrhythmia. My heart is luckily healthy still, but palpitations are ongoing and relentless and make me feel like there’s a trapped hummingbird in my chest. And I also sometimes feel like I can’t get enough oxygen in a breath (which isn’t actually happening. My pulse ox is fine. But it’s because my brain knows my heart is acting the fool and convinces itself that I can’t get a good breath. So even though my blood oxygen is fine, my brain insists it can’t be, and I experience symptoms of mild anoxia sometimes. Dizzy. Fainting. Nausea. Gasping. Fun times.) this is my life until I die. Or until 3D printing can make me a new… lots of organs and solve this problem for me. Which is obviously the goal.
And I work out every day. Hour of cardio. Half hour of weights. And i have to eat well. It’s so stupid. I got to a pretty ugly weight but I was nowhere near as extreme as I could have been. (Boourns - I’m kidding. Mostly. It’s a complex topic.) but this woman is literally severely extreme. She’s a bizarro world Eugenia Cooney. She’s sick as hell.
She needs to put her health ahead of her addiction. She’s going to fucking die.
I was 280, felt disappointed. Stopped eating, and would feel nauseous when I thought of food, even when I was starving. I was scared I'd become an*rexic, but I eventually forced myself to eat (a healthy portion). And in the span of a couple months I've lost 30 pounds, I'm now 250. I hope I continue to lose more, in a healthy way of course.

They did for a time but the information they do teach is outdated and more often than not smashed in with PE and not given a lot of focus

Tammy is exactly like my adoptive sister. Even down to hooking up with a guy who was in a relationship. Her weight was everyone else's problem except her own. She would cry at the drop of the hat and claimed doctors were harassing her. She died last year at over 600 lbs on the operation table because doctors couldn't roll her over in time.

My grandfather once hit 350 lbs, he’s now 180 lbs and turning 80 in a few months. He wouldn’t be alive if he hadn’t taken control of his weight, but because he did he has seen all his grandchildren graduate and he has met his great grandchildren.
