It sounds like Amy is trying to break generational burdens. Learned bad behaviors from childhood are the hardest to break. My heart ached to watch her, but I'm incredibly happy to see her progress and development as a woman, mother and a person in general. Now her sister Tammy, she ain't sh*t though.

My heart BROKE for Amy when she hit her rock bottom regarding her hoarding behaviour. She is obviously so ready to change, ready to take her life into her own hands and better herself and her life. I’m so proud of her. The journey to health and wellness isn’t easy, but it is so rewarding ❤️

Same here! I understand the fight against the crawling nasties. I also understand how hard it can be to keep the house up when weight or physical health keeps you from doing everything that needs to be done. It’s incredibly depressing as well, which makes it even harder.

Living with a chronic pain disorder, I can say my life significantly improved when I stopped asking myself "will it hurt?" and started asking myself "can I do it anyways?". It's amazing what you can accomplish when you DECIDE that the pain won't kill you unless you let it. Tammy needs to decide the same and start walking!!

    • @Pugetwitch
      @Pugetwitch 3 роки тому +31

Right. That's part of why I got back into working out because I was suffering really bad from chronic pain and refused to just sit around and let it take over my life. I've been working out regularly again for the past 4 years and I have a ton of energy again and even though I do have pain flare-ups they're not nearly as bad. And best of all, I'm not sitting around victimizing myself feeling sorry about my situation, I'm actively changing it. Back in school after leaving my career of ten years and an abusive relationship with the father of my two kids who I had known for over 20 years...he ended up developing a covert addiction and began stealing from me, destroying my credit, getting physical, etc. I've been single for the past 5 years now, repaired my credit, bought a new car after he trashed my old one, and I'm currently getting my bachelor's degree in construction management after working in healthcare for the past 15 years. I'm too busy to worry about the pain, when he lived with me I was miserable working from home, dealing with verbal and psychological views, dealt with a lot of people close to me dying and had a miscarriage, there was a lot going on but nothing so much better in my life and I have taken control once again. I've also lost over 20 lbs and gained back 10 as muscle.

But as Michelle said, you need to push through the pain and i started with really small walks around the company building i work for. And slowly and steadily i increased the length of these walk. Now i can workout intense cardio and walk plus 25.000 steps without beeing in endless pain. But: I lost around 330 pounds to get there and worked hard for many years. I totally understand how Amy feels, but she needs to remember that she took the initiative and called these people in to help her with her cleaning issues. *She took those difficult first steps to fix the problem,* because she wants to change, and that speaks volumes about her strength of character. This was rock-bottom for her, but from here on the only way is up, and with her track record, I think she'll nail this as well.
As for Tammy... girl needs to move. Back when I was over 200lbs (far too heavy for someone of my height,) I used to get repeated bouts of severe cellulitis in my right leg - I'm talking 'ending up in an ICU in hospital for a week on intravenous antibiotics' severe. Cellulitis is no joke as far as pain is concerned; my right leg would swell up to double its size and turn bright red to purple from the knee downwards (often tracking up to my groin in the first few days,) and you're supposed to keep the leg elevated as much as possible to stop excess fluid pooling in the infected tissue. When you first move that leg from an elevated position to a vertical upright one (i.e. for sitting, standing and walking,) the pain is UNBELIEVABLE - your leg literally feels like a giant blood sausage that's about to violently explode - but if you can grit your teeth through that initial pain, it gradually fades enough that you can shuffle around on that leg to take a bathroom break or just do some moving around or whatever. *I made myself do that every time,* because I learned very quickly that avoiding doing it just made it more of an emotional hurdle to try and do it, which slowed my recovery and meant I was more of a burden for on the nursing staff for a longer time. You HAVE to do the hard, painful stuff sometimes, and yeah, it sucks - but it's the only way to break through to recovering.

The problem is Tammy is like a drug addict or an alcoholic. You can yell at them, beg them, threaten them, leave them, scream and say, “you’re going to die if you don’t change!” But you can’t get them to get clean unless they want to. They have to make the decision once and for all and they have to really WANT it. Because it’s a life long commitment. Sometimes, when you’re in that deep you have already accepted that death could happen at any moment, and you become ok with it. And I see that in Tammy. She’s a lost cause, in my opinion. She’s pretending in front of her family because she doesn’t want to just come out and say it. I’ve been there. I was positive I’d never live past 30 and I didn’t even want to. Luckily, I was able to pull myself out of that depression hole. But I recognize it in her. I feel so bad for her. When you don’t feel like you’re worth it, it’s really difficult to work that hard for something you don’t think you even deserve. I pray for her, but I don’t have much hope.

It's all well and good feeling sorry for yourself but when you feel so entitled to someone's help, like Tammy is, then I don't believe she's experiencing the thing you're describing. She wants to be treated like a child, to be given everything that she wants with no pushback, and that is the issue. Even in Season 1 she treated Amy with so much scorn that I was shocked Amy was still helping her. Tammy didn't feel an ounce of happiness for her sister when she was losing weight and instead took out her frustrations on her for her own actions. She's a nasty little gremlin.

I had a mouse once but the sticky traps got them and haven’t seen one in 1 year (I live in an older building). I get your busy but tlc is paying them $$. Just like Tammy not loosing weight (once she loose weigh, what will they name the show). It helps/pays TLC and only them. Reality shows are scripted/ manipulated and edited behind the scenes by others to tell the story THEY want. You never know if she got inspected and if the producers brought bugs and mice to spice up the show/viewership, to make them look like unkept rednecks overweight idiots (not saying they are, but the that’s the picture they are painting). I do find the dichotomy between Tammy and Amy (and Chris) to be an interesting look into the differences in how people cope. I find Chris and Amy to be very similar. The way Tammy talks to them, specifically Amy, still after all these years seems to kind of take them aback like, where did you learn to treat people that way? Getting glimpses of their mother, I can see they obviously did not have a supportive childhood at all (see: the way she reacted to Amy's progress and getting married). But they all, I think, had the same parents, and yet both Amy and Chris are respectful, mostly responsible and kind individuals. Of course siblings don't have the exact same environmental experiences, but often share the same domestic advantages and disadvantages, yet the outcome is often so different.

I believe in her and I hope somebody tells her that mess isn't a moral failing. Just like she lost weight, she can work on clutter and the reasons why it happened. Giving not just Gage but herself a functioning Home.

It's great to see Amy doing so well. Especially her taking responsibility for the hoarding and trying to stop. My boyfriend's mom is a hoarder and it has caused him a lot of pain. I've still never even been to her house because he doesn't want me to see it. He has spent so many years of his life trying to help her, gotten her house all cleaned up multiple times, but she always slips right back in to it after a short while. I hope Amy will manage to stop so that Gage doesn't have to go through that.

It's particularly sad that her family keeps up with Queen Tammy's lie that she can go to the restroom and bathe on her own. When we can look at her and see that it is physically impossible for her arms to reach herself to wipe front or back. So especially on a road trip where she wouldn't fit into the majority of bathroom stalls or fit on the toilet itself, she is for sure wearing a diaper. One that she does not change herself.

Out of topic, YES! babies can swim at least 6 months old. They cannot do strokes or breaths. If you teach them, they will learn how to survive, float, and swim to a ledge. I do recommend teaching infants how to float and survive. Not only will they not be "traumatized", it'll be in their instinct to not thrash around when they're old.

Very glad she's getting help for the hoarding before it gets really bad. Unfortunately that's MAYBE a 3-4 on the hoarding severity scale. It's a devastating illness that goes way beyond "pretty gross". People lose their children because of hoarding. She's very brave to call for help and bring some light to the illness before it got to such a serious level!

hey its a journey!! change is hard, and progress is NOT LINEAR !!! we are human beings, not machines. we cant just go straight up lol its always gonna be a bumpy road, but you can do it!! its okay to change up your routines a bit, if you cant workout twice a day right now maybe focus on something else like just moving around or eating better. i started my health journey last year in june. i only wanted to lose 12 lbs, and i reached my goal. then it was time to start focusing on gaining muscle. however, i got surgery on both my feet early dec. this changed my plans and my routines… i couldnt walk for awhile and had to rely on my mom to bring me food. her eyes arent the best so she couldnt weight out everything on my scale like i usually do, and she always gives me more than i want. and i wasnt in my own room cause i couldnt do stairs and man it brought me down so much. my energy, my mood, my health. at the start of this year i did my smart scale and saw i gained back 3 lbs and 1% body fat percentage. didnt really care about the weight but the body fat percentage really bugged me! and i knew it was cause i had been eating snacks and i wasnt counting calories or weighing food… i was lost for like a month and it really sucked. but like a week ago i just got really motivated again and i started counting calories and even tho i still cant do a lot of walking i can do some in surgical boots so i am focusing on eating better and cutting out snacks more. and trying to add more protein which can be hard sometimes as a vegan! but yea i got kinda depressed cause i had to stop weight training, but i found that when i decided to focus on food i got motivated again and im doing stuff again and i feel very positive about it!!! so yea just wanted to share my own experience lol cause i got really sad i couldnt move around, i had gotten used to it lol but when i started focusing on food again ive had more energy, i am more determined, and i feel like im back on track again. (: so good luck to you, i know you can do it !!! its okay if you arent following your plan to the t every single day. go with the flow ! do whatever is best for you in the moment. you got this!!!!

I'm so glad that finally someone has the balls to say what needs to be said. That's why I love your videos and if people would relax and actually listen to what your saying they would see that at the end theres a very valid point. I think I speak for most people that are familiar with Tammy Slaton when I say she is the most immature unappreciative inconsiderate and selfish baby I've ever seen and one of these days she will finally realize what she had and what she took advantage of and sadly it will be to late. I hate to say it but I honestly believe there is no hope for Tammy and it sucks because even though its the farthest from the truth Amy will feel like she didn't do enough and that's the sad part.
I remember Amy's first video and it is night and day when it comes to her personality, she is so much happier now and she has her priorities in line.

LMAO at Michelle asking what that indentation on Tammy's shin/leg is! When someone is so morbidly obese, the fat tends to grow in places it normally wouldn't. This is really sad! Only she can help herself and other people can't help her unless she does her part. When I see my waist even start to get just a little thicker or my pants feel a little tighter that's plenty of motivation for me to cut down on eating and to workout harder. I'm glad that the sister, Amy is doing well. Tammy should follow her sister's example.
