Absolute gem of a documentary. As a French, I have to say that the Italian chef, speaking perfect french with a thick italian accent and congolese intonation was one the WILDEST things I ever heared in my entire life. People are amazing !
To me as a Congolese chef I truly enjoyed this documentary. The Italian chef is emblematic of how our cultures are globalizing...Italian speaking french with a Congolese intonation blending congolese products into Italian cuisine. He is in Goma where most westerner would rather not be but yet he is thriving and changing the narrative!
The Africa you will never see on Western TV. Thank you Giles for your wonderful work. The DRC is an amazing place indeed with resilient people destined for greatness. I pray that the time will soon come when they will be able to benefit from their minerals and all the other resources that are abundant in this massive country!
This documentary almost brought me to tears. These people are still trying their best to be happy while going trough so much and having very little. God bless this man!
What a wonderful documentary. The Chef is such a kind man who has a real gift at lifting the spirits of beautiful people who have lived through trauma. His love of people through their food is so warm and genuine. If everyone had such a spirit of adventure and appreciation for life, the world would be so much better.
I love Congolese people and culture, they are so eccentric! Also, let's no overlook the guy sharing his story of how he got disfigured in the Congo war, I have family members that survived war and the effects are horrible. I'm pro rehabilitation for war victims in the most holistic way possible ✊🏿.
Such beautiful amazing women and it’s so incredible that they’ve found a renewed zest for life and are a wonderful support system for each other. Very inspirational to see them doing so well again.
This is the best documentary I have watched, I was crying throughout. What an eye opener. I am watchign from Zimbabwe and wow! Thank you for sharing your life and others with us. Love it, keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for this awesome documentary. I'm very into food documentaries but this one ist the best and most inspiring by far. The way Giles is interacting with people, his approach to empower and help others is outstanding Keep on doing things like this
Love this, my brother in law is Congolese I suppose its about time I start learning more about this incredible country, definitely hope to visit one day
Almost all Afro Latinos/Latinas their forefathers come from Congo actually, well and Angola but is used to be 1 country. My parents are from both countries
I just spent a month there! On my way out there were full flights with Brussels Airlines, Turkish airlines, Air France, Ethiopian Airlines and Kenya airways...Kinshasa is huge and modern
The Sapeurs are very interesting, and very very stylish. Interesting to see that they developed their own sense of style and fashion and it works out really well.
Wow, this series of documentaries is just fantastic. It’s delicate but goes very deep, absolutely love it. Big fan of the work of all the people involved
Thank you for this beautiful documentary. The continent of Africa is unfortunately kind of neglected in our history lessons at school. It need to be presented, it's stories need to be told. Please spread this as far as possible and continue the work!
@@shalbec3232 for sure, i want to visit africa as much as i do other places in the world, every little place has its different spark and i want to experience it :D
Wow, that was really great. Very much so reminded me of...Bordain. My DNA says my ancestors are from there so.... man. So many feelings. I'll just stop here. I won't. Please post contact information for these places. I mean then the world can and will help. I have some faith left, I have to. Thanks.
"they fled Rwanda and became militia" So they were no victims. They just met villains who beat their ass. Instead of being grateful to their host country they did this horrific crime
If you know nothing shut uo and educate yourself i bet you know nothing that we have been though and are still going through youtube don't cover anything
hi la rious, the french Congo guy was really making it a fashion to eat larves, he even pronounces it as something chique,it sounds fancy in frenc; larv. hahahah. aint no way eating larv, vegan oke, meat oke.
These people are making a fool of themselves. They're also deceiving themselves, thinking they're in heaven, that's not true, somebody needs to tell them the truth. They're lost but they don't know that, because nobody helps them open their eyes. They live in confusion
european techniques how because cooking with banana leaf is ancient cooking in the america ever hear of a tamal? If anything I see native american ingredients maiz/corn tomatoes avocado peppers hot and sweet yuca or casava squash all native to americas until columbus arriva and took the europe and the rest of the world.

His accent face and expressions are remarkable similar to the poet and genius in Asterix obelix & cleopatta movie played by Edouard Baer 😂

The representation of Africa has definitely changed and became more positive over the years.
I definitely think Black Panther created a wave
Congo foods are so underrated. There's a Congo cuisine restaurant near my apartment in NYC, and I LOVE it. Go there twice a week.

In São Paulo / Brazil, we have a vegan restaurant called Congolinaria.
Which is commanded by a refugee chef named Picthou Luambo.
On my list to visit if I ever come to São Paulo, thanks for the rec!

Good on you Giles.
I just realised why I watch these: because I fucking miss Anthony Bourdain.
Yup. But I suspect he'd approve and would enjoy having someone else do the work as well.
Best cooking show out

🚀 Food unites people internationally 💡
Awesome 👌 👏 👍 😍
Lovely pics
Sad eyes
Africa is pretty much this planet's best continent!
Nothing comes close, well maybe Indian Subcontinent and South-East-Asia.
Their fashion reminds me of Solange's Losing You music video.
That because those people are Congolese 😂😂😂🇨🇩❤💪🏿 and are were using our fashion sense
I pray for all students to pass exams successfully and get good marks. All the Best ❤
What Camera is that? The one he takes portraits with... it looks incredible
I think it could be a Hasselblad 500C or one of this series. The pictures look so good, but it´s a bit pricey as i´ve seen online.
Yes
Hello, How can we send some help to mama Joyce? Thanks
Wow wow wow!

Look good 🥰🥰
Fucking hell! Does this guy have a channel? If no, why the fuck not? Where is he?
I like plantain from DRC.
Mi piace...
❤
What country is this place in?
Democratic Republic (DR) of Congo. Back in the '90's, you might have remembered this country by the name of Zaire.
Do those women that weave baskets sell on the international market? They should, I want to buy a couple myself.
How do they understand what you are saying?
Never seen anyone with so many piercings on their face. This is very interesting! 🧡
Only in congo people have amazing sense and are very charismatic even when talking and expressing themselves🥰🇨🇩❤💪🏿
🤤
