Eric let me first start out by thanking you for taking your time to really help out the gun community by making videos and so on. I don't know if you are aware of this or not but recently there has been three lawsuits filed against the BATFE for their enforcement of the unconstitutional 1986 machine gun ban and the rejection of Trust submissions for new machine guns. The main attorney behind at least one of these lawsuits raised $40,000+ out of the $50,000 he wanted and did so in only a months time! This fundraising started back in the month of May I believe so God only knows how much money he has received by now. Eric I would really appreciate it if you and Chad would make a video on these pending lawsuits so that "We the People" can all be informed. Also I am sick and tired of these complaining children who constantly leave comments complaining about how hard it is to get the law repealed. If these little children would actually fight for the repeal of this so called law and for the cause of freedom then maybe they would have more of a say in the matter. Thanks Eric and God Bless Show less
Eric and Chad please make a Gun Gripes episode on the three pending lawsuits filed against the BATFE for their enforcement of the unconstitutional 1986 machine gun ban and for the rejection of Trust submissions for new machine guns by the BATFE. Eric and Chad if you would make a Gun Gripes episode on this subject then tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands would be informed and this so called law would not last more than a few more years. Please get the word out and God Bless and also thanks for the great video. Subscriber since the start of the Gun Gripes series!
I'm a Canadian gun owner who will never see legal possession of of full auto. Gives me hope when I read this... Maybe one day. Ps: Eric and Chad should really jump on this.
That coating on the Spartan armor is impressive I've never seen any other steel armor capture the rounds like that plus that multi curve I think I'm going to have to invest in some Spartan armor
Is there anyway in the future you could test out body armor by strapping it onto a mannequin with those pressure pads on them to see if they break them? Or even ballistics gel to really get a realistic view on it.
My tactical armor doesn't have nothing but rhino liner coating.I hope the carrier catches it. They say you can put a notebook in front of it but I like that right there.
so i went to check the cost of the plates and carriers, very surprised the price is very good. and after this video, im definately thinking a killer deal.
Good morning Eric and Chad. I would love to see a side-by-side comparison of Spartan Armor Systems ATC AR500 Plate and the other AR500 Armor. They have two very different anti-spalding pads so I would like to see how they perform in their carrier pouches. I would also like to see them in a box frame on red potter's clay so that we can see how the plates distort on impact before returning to near normal shape. Thanks for considering.
They did not say but I have watched this channel enough to say that if any went through they would have showed it. While they were knocking the bullets fragments out from behind the anti spile coating you could see the back of the plate... from what I could see, nothing made it through the plate
Did they say it was a steel plate? On Edit... Duh! Yes they did say it was AR500 plate at the very start of the video .... I have to pay better attention before I post replies
stevemccollum2011 Lol, yeah. Although just because they say "AR500", that may not mean that the plate is steel; there is a company called AR500 that makes these same types of plates, but they also make plates that use ceramic components rather than steel.
to get an idea of the force on the the back of the armor when being shot duct tape a few eggs to the back side and see if they break from the force or shock wave made by the impact
Wow. That anti-spall coating has gotten a lot better than the first iterations of anti-spall coating. On Gen 1 models of AR500 coated plates that coating wouldve been chipped off by round 20. I wonder if they changed the material
I would like to see some shot with all copper projectiles that are designed to fragment like some Lehigh Defense products. I got the idea from Chad's shirt. I wonder if the coating can retain those larger and harder bits.
I felt Mac’s video made more sense. He used clay as well the pad beneath it was against the the plate carrier vs this I feel that pad isn’t quite behind it to absorb it into the pad if that makes sense?
i wish we could see prices drop to a more common man friendly range at the current time it would cost me close to 3/4 of a paycheck to afford just one of these ... never the less great review and i enjoy seeing your videos of these torture test ..
any chance you could either do a video or just answer how these coated plates stack up against sapi plates as far ricochets are concerned....or how to load a vest to minimize a ricochet hitting something vital via neck or thighs
I don't understand. Why would you be skeptical or think something would of happened to the plate from pistol rounds? This is AR500, the same stuff 99% of steel targets are made from.
Because they get a kickback to mention the company. Erica didn't buy these plates, they were donated by the company. If another company sent him some plates, he would do the same useless "tests" and act like it is amazing a round didn't dent the plate, even though it is rated to stop up to a .308 win round.
Just got my full set Eric, I'm down to go full super trooper if you got the stones! Lol great video man love to see the stress testing not just a destruction video all the time.
I am pretty sure the make targets out of this steel that are meant to be shot thousands if times. So under many handgun scenarios this armor would probably never fail. If you were trying to get it to fail that is.
Curious, wondering if you guys have thought about shooting an armor plate UNTIL it gives. Or shooting it with calibers they are NOT rated for. Like 338 or 500 S&W
I've been trying to decide between these Spartan plates and the AR500s. Being female, the Spartan triple curve looked very appealing, but the AR500 was slightly cheaper. After seeing this video demonstrating the coating, I think you've sealed the deal in Spartan's favor.
"Stand there getting shot like a circus clown..." I wasn't aware they liked to get shot that much. Thanks for the info. If there's shooting going on around me, I'll try to make sure there is a circus clown nearby.
Great video! It would be interesting to see an armor plate test where you could actually measure the impact of the bullets hitting the plate. it would give us viewers a better idea of the shock trauma caused by the impact of different calibers.
Just a quick question. This may have already been answered in a previous video, but just out of curiosity, how many shots could this plate take before it needs to be replaced?
Could you do a test with the same type of plate, but useing a 12 gadge?? How many slugs will it take to penatrate?? And if you do thank you bmvery much!!
I'd like to see a thousand round torture test on one of these plates, using rounds close to their max rating such as green tip 5.55 or ball .308. Perhaps a test to see how well they stand up to 7.62x54r since it is a bit more stout than a .308 which the level III plates are tested for.
Great Vid Sir thanks! Here is a question no one asked. I have watched every vid I could find on this plate. They shot the Multi Curved and then the new triple curved all with new coating. I notice when hit near edges the lead does break on the corners and fly out. Also noticed when the lead does hit center it finds it way out of side. So would it not be smarter to wear / buy the Multi curved rather then the triple curved because the triple curved comes into you more face sides gut etc? They sell Formed / Multi Curved ad triple curved. I would not go with Formed because of comfort but it just makes sense not to want to go with the triple because like I said the lead will find it way out and the end up glancing more into your area rather then Multi curved. Am i making sense or missing something? Thanks
For a minute there I thought he shot at the right spot at the top to make it through with the 45 acp at 5:40 and I'd like to see a full auto of AK-47 woop ass on that plate.
I want to see what type of ar500 plate will stop a 50cal ... Yes i understand how impractical it would be considering ho heavy it would be and just the sheer shock would do to a human , all i want to see is just how thick it would have to be .
So please explain to me what you expect to learn by shooting a rifle plate with pistols? Of course nothing is going to go thru it, it's rated for much more than pewny pistol rounds.
what you can do next time is get some knife and cut that anti-spaling coating after shot to see how it looks from inside and what damage shots did to a steel plate
I would like to see how one of these AR500 plates stands up to steel core Russian surplus, both 7.62 and 5.45.
I know I'm 7 years late but it will stop both

Well its time to see what it would take to punch a hole .... Aka belt-fed .. Or something with multiple barrels spinning with a smaller cal.
I'm a Canadian gun owner who will never see legal possession of of full auto. Gives me hope when I read this... Maybe one day.
Ps: Eric and Chad should really jump on this.
Thanks dude for your help and I think you should come and join the Free World!
M1GarandSon One day, maybe if I work hard enough I'll get citizenship to The land of the free. It would honestly be an honour.
I remember when I subscribed to you when you were showing how to clean cosmoline off a Mosin Nagant in your garage, so much this channel has grown.
More of a test of the anti-spall coating than the armor plate itself. Amazing how many rounds it can absorb.
Great video as always
I'm amazed that coating didn't de-laminate after 50 shots...
Coating looks far superior to the "other brands" coating, good job keep up the great videos!
That coating on the Spartan armor is impressive I've never seen any other steel armor capture the rounds like that plus that multi curve I think I'm going to have to invest in some Spartan armor
Ar500 steel build up coat stick with your little garbage spartan ar500 gang pussy
You wont regret it. High quality products
The trauma pad is a nice addition!
I would like to see you shoot a 44 mag at 5 milk jugs filled with jello. I think the slow motion of the impact would be amazing to watch.
How does it do against 5.56?
Great video. Spartan will protect you for sure. Thanks for sharing.
I was more impressed by how well that anti spalling worked
Is there anyway in the future you could test out body armor by strapping it onto a mannequin with those pressure pads on them to see if they break them? Or even ballistics gel to really get a realistic view on it.
My tactical armor doesn't have nothing but rhino liner coating.I hope the carrier catches it. They say you can put a notebook in front of it but I like that right there.
That is some amazing body armor! It was equally impressive the way you parked your 9MM shots right next to Chad's .45 hits.
I’d LOVE to see you do a review of a Spartan AR550 with a BASE COAT ONLY and the Spartan Spall Sleeve!!!! Thanks a trillion brother!
Good video, very informative, thanks for taking the time to create and post it!
I'm very impressed with Spartan Armor Systems.🇺🇸
This plate seems to be of high quality, thanks for the review. I have yet to buy body armor but will as soon as I can.
Jesus... The fireball on that 4th .44 magnum shot!
Man I can watch plate tests all day, so much fun! Freeeedom!
so i went to check the cost of the plates and carriers, very surprised the price is very good. and after this video, im definately thinking a killer deal.
Eric seems like a super cook, humble dude.
I wonder if that could take a 12 or 10 gauge shotgun slug or a assault rifle load

So, did any of the .44 mags go through the plate? Maybe I missed it, but I don't think you showed the back of the plate after Chad's last shots.
They did not say but I have watched this channel enough to say that if any went through they would have showed it. While they were knocking the bullets fragments out from behind the anti spile coating you could see the back of the plate... from what I could see, nothing made it through the plate
I paused it at around 9:44 or 9:45 when I got a glimpse of it. I couldn't see much if any deformation from the side profile which is promising.
There is no way that any normal pistol caliber should go through a steel level III plate.
You could strap it to a piece of cow ribs and see if the blunt effect would break anything with and without that pad.
to get an idea of the force on the the back of the armor when being shot duct tape a few eggs to the back side and see if they break from the force or shock wave made by the impact
Wow. That anti-spall coating has gotten a lot better than the first iterations of anti-spall coating. On Gen 1 models of AR500 coated plates that coating wouldve been chipped off by round 20. I wonder if they changed the material
I'd like to see it hit with a single 308 at 50 yards. Just to see how well the coating stands up to a single rifle round. Then a 50bmg just for fun.
The most ergonomic body armour design and 308 ap and hit the trauma pack for review
I would like to see some shot with all copper projectiles that are designed to fragment like some Lehigh Defense products. I got the idea from Chad's shirt. I wonder if the coating can retain those larger and harder bits.

You guys sold me. Ordering my Spartan plates today.
I DEFININTELY am buying this armour some time in the future.
You fellas are out standing marksman.
It would be interesting to get an instrument to measure decibel levels with suppressors from different locations
i wish we could see prices drop to a more common man friendly range at the current time it would cost me close to 3/4 of a paycheck to afford just one of these ... never the less great review and i enjoy seeing your videos of these torture test ..
any chance you could either do a video or just answer how these coated plates stack up against sapi plates as far ricochets are concerned....or how to load a vest to minimize a ricochet hitting something vital via neck or thighs
How about shooting some of that controlled chaos ammunition on a body armor plate i'm curious to see what would happen.
That is the best coating I've seen to date...
Check out Zoombang as well if you're looking for padding to put under a PC.
My idea:
Get THE toughest plate that ther is -try to break it "leveling" different calibers and ammo types. Keep doing great vids!
Thank you for doing these videos this armor is great cause I am in the hunt for one recently
I don't understand. Why would you be skeptical or think something would of happened to the plate from pistol rounds? This is AR500, the same stuff 99% of steel targets are made from.
I know.. right... this vid missed the mark... way off! Deceptive even...
It's not all what it's made of, it's also engineering
Because they get a kickback to mention the company. Erica didn't buy these plates, they were donated by the company. If another company sent him some plates, he would do the same useless "tests" and act like it is amazing a round didn't dent the plate, even though it is rated to stop up to a .308 win round.
maybe you could test it against some less common rounds like the 5.7x28
the only one worth testing is the ap which is ridiculous in price if you can find it
I wonder if the small diameter would allow it to slip into it.
If it can handle .308 it'll handle 5.7x28
Great video. Would have been interesting to see the back of the plate after the rounds from the 629.
You should get two more and see how many 5.56 and how many 7.62x39 it would take to go through them
chads 3rd shot with the 44, spit out a fire ring
Just got my full set Eric, I'm down to go full super trooper if you got the stones! Lol great video man love to see the stress testing not just a destruction video all the time.
That "missed shot" is why body armor isn't high on my list of things to buy.
Those fireball out of the .44 magnum though spartan armor is the real deal realy looking into getting my hands on some
I am pretty sure the make targets out of this steel that are meant to be shot thousands if times. So under many handgun scenarios this armor would probably never fail. If you were trying to get it to fail that is.
Good shooting. Called the shots and delivered
Curious, wondering if you guys have thought about shooting an armor plate UNTIL it gives. Or shooting it with calibers they are NOT rated for. Like 338 or 500 S&W
Oh my a level 3 plate will stop 9mm and the low penetrating .45? Makes sense being it is rated for .308 ammo.
I've been trying to decide between these Spartan plates and the AR500s. Being female, the Spartan triple curve looked very appealing, but the AR500 was slightly cheaper. After seeing this video demonstrating the coating, I think you've sealed the deal in Spartan's favor.
you guys didnt show the back of the plate after the last shots were fired?
Great shooting getting those .45 rnds next to chads 9mm
be cool to see you guys test the armor on a full sized ballistics dummy, and without the armor. great video as always!
"Stand there getting shot like a circus clown..."
I wasn't aware they liked to get shot that much. Thanks for the info. If there's shooting going on around me, I'll try to make sure there is a circus clown nearby.
Test a Nuke.
This video seemed really good. I mean, all of your videos are good, but this one seemed better than usual and I don't know why.
Anyway, nice job guys!
Would have liked to see some shots of 556 and x39 or a slug, just to see what happens
Terminal ballistics is a fascinating science.
What did the back of the plate look like after the 44 magnums?
How about shooting it at various angles. See if the edges break and cause secondary trauma.
Good idea...we will try that next time
So if you had to choose one set of plates what would you choose
You didn't show the back of the plate at the end after the 44 mags were fired.
I think it would be fun to shoot some of that body armor ( the strongest that you can find) with a .50 cal . Also maybe some 7,62 on full auto
is there a minimum safe distance that you could get shot at with these plates? as in would it stop a shot from within 3 feet?
Great video! It would be interesting to see an armor plate test where you could actually measure the impact of the bullets hitting the plate. it would give us viewers a better idea of the shock trauma caused by the impact of different calibers.
you didn't turn the plate around at the end ? so we could see the back side ?
If you can test this plate against .223 or .308 that would be great. With AP bullets
How would all of the body armor do against 338 lapua or another big round at distance?
Just a quick question. This may have already been answered in a previous video, but just out of curiosity, how many shots could this plate take before it needs to be replaced?
Could you do a test with the same type of plate, but useing a 12 gadge?? How many slugs will it take to penatrate?? And if you do thank you bmvery much!!

Chad is getting a lot better on the camera. Great vid guys!! Keep up the good work!!
BEST ARMOUR IVE SEEN YET!!!!1 i would feel cocky wearing this and would trust it till the end! nice vid again guys
yupppp lol
robocops chin was fine hehehe
GaBoyLMM Or "Pecker" !
Alex piv Lolz! So true!
How about rolling that PTR 91 out and tagging it from distance.
I want to see what type of ar500 plate will stop a 50cal ... Yes i understand how impractical it would be considering ho heavy it would be and just the sheer shock would do to a human , all i want to see is just how thick it would have to be .
i'd like to see the armor shot from different angles
That coating is hard as nails....great review
how much does it weigh? this would be an awesome kind of body armor for the us military if it was an average carrying tolerance.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the magazine reliability review hope to see it soon
Wow that took a pounding very impressive. how about you try some of them solid brass rounds or maybe the big 50
So please explain to me what you expect to learn by shooting a rifle plate with pistols?
Of course nothing is going to go thru it, it's rated for much more than pewny pistol rounds.
7.62x25 vs plate armor?
Do a test with .22LR and see how many .22 ar500 will take
The ATC is not NIJ certified, only in the single curve full coat.
Very impressive armor test. Thanks for the video.
You should get all together and shoot at the same time! Till the plate its pierced
what you can do next time is get some knife and cut that anti-spaling coating after shot to see how it looks from inside and what damage shots did to a steel plate
Good to know that if you are being fired at by an entire small army, the plate can take it.
An entire small army that is too cheap for rifles, but not .44 magnum ammo. Lol.
"Stand there and get shot like a circus clown."....LMAO
I'd love to see you guys shoot that same plate with rifle rounds to see how it holds up.
