MM6 My take: +The Dr. Wily battle was actually one of the best in the series. +A few cool and powerful weapons (Flame Man's, Tomahawk Man's, Wind Man's) +/- Some of the music was great and some of it was sub-par -Game play relied on rush adapters too much at times, which slowed things down +/-while graphics were pristine for NES, there was a lack of creativity in the levels +/- It was cool to have alternate routes to finish levels, but there was little reward for doing so (energies/lives/Beat)
I noticed that on their other Megaman reviews, too, I just think it's the recording device they use to capture it that distorts the sound a bit. It could be one of those systems, though. Are the knockoff consoles known for doing that to the sound/music?
No way, Mega man 3 is no match for Mega man 2, Mega man 2,4 and 5 are the top tier. But 1, 3 and 6 are not that bad either. They all are good games, and worth of playing. But 2, 4 and 5 are best of the bunch.
This is a really underrated game really. It catches flack for being the last one in a formula that was running dry but it still did everything that made the games before it good, and in some ways better. It lives in the shadow of its predecessors but that doesn't mean it's not a worthy title. All of the Mega Man games are on the list of greatest titles that the NES has to offer.
WuAgent I don't agree, this game is memorable for me and I think the level design can be really creative at times. As for bosses? Robot masters were designed by kids all over the world. I think they look quite refined. As for the soundtrack, it's one of the best in all of Mega Man. And just because you don't like a game doesn't mean it shouldn't have been released out of Japan. There are others out there like me who really appreciate the game.
Oh god, the memories! I played this to death as a kid. The robot masters, the incredibly epic music, the sweet story, the refined gameplay, it was all so great! I love Mega Man 6! It's WAY better than 5! It's amazing how easy this game is in comparison to the others though. That Jet Rush adapter is awesome. I recently learned that Proto Man is in 6 too! I didn't enjoy the uncharacteristically shallow review you did on this game Derek. This is a great game for those without blinders.
Oh come on, all us guys who clicked on this video knows the story already. And we've read and watched dozens of videos describing the games and their hard gameplay. This is a different angle. I'm glad he goes off on trivia instead of the usual breakdown of how hard it is, the usual Dr Wiley robot master story etc. Kudos I say!
Is this being played on a clone system like Retron, Retro Duo or something? Because some of the sound effects are very distorted (charging and shooting most notably)
If you ask me, I think the bosses in this game are pretty interesting, especially because there's a Native American robot called Tomahawk Man, which is my favorite Robot Master in MMVI. :)
You can say what you want but I love this game just as much as the others. I actually used to be afraid to play Centuarman's level back then. That underwater part with spikes everywhere was scary as hell. Hold the button too long and you're going head first into spikes...don't hold it long enough and you're getting a spike up the ass. Scary stuff.
I had an NES as a kid, and the only Mega Man I ever played was the first one. I liked it, but it was super hard and I was like 5, so I never really got into it. I got a Genesis after that, but I got Mega Man X for PC, and was the next Mega Man game I played, and is still one of my favorites. (Legends is the best)
If you're approaching the series fresh, this isn't a bad entry by any stretch... just from the perspective of 1994 when (like me) you had played all the prior titles, it can and does seem a little underwhelming. Still highly recommended, great music, some entertaining boss battles, and a cool new upgrade system make it as much a true Mega Man title as any of the other NES classics, in my opinion.
People can say what they want about this game, but I loved all of it. Most of the music was awesome, the suits were cool and useful, the weapons felt new and creative [besides plant man's shield], and the robot masters felt unique. It's actually my third favorite in the series besides 3 and 2.
because like the nes, the ps2 will live on forever as one of the top 3 videogame systems of all time for quality fun games in numbers no other console can touch
< As you said, it's still 8-bit Mega Man. those pin tight controls and thought out level design is still there, especially with the secret paths through the stages. The soundtrack, especially towards the end, has this sort of meloncholy finality to it; Mr. X's caslte and Dr. Wily's castle are my favorite castle themes in the series, and Wily Machine 6 my favorite Final boss. The intrigue surrounding the game is only added sugar to the sweet dessert at the end of the six course Mega NES meal.
The Robot Masters in 6 are infinitely more creative than the robot masters than in 2 or 3, hah. Someone tell me that Tomahawk Man, Yamato Man, Knight Man, and Centaur Man aren't more creative as Quick Man or Needle Man.
Thanks for the informative review. My favorite part was when you condemned the game to being lack luster because it care out late. This game is only behind 3 and 5.
I was hoping for examples of bosses or at least some of the lack of creativity/refinement you were talking about. All we got was some midstage gameplay that really illustrated nothing.
If people think chocolate ice cream tastes bad, or that people look good in clown hats, or that LJN made the best NES games, it doesn't make them dumb. But rather, different. What is dumb, is believing only one opinion matters or is fact.
There were so many flaws in the game it was like it was gonna be cancelled. The charged shot sound, mega man walking threw gates is slow and off timed, mega man still points his canon when weapons are completely depleted went you press “B”. However that soundtrack is awesome. 😜
i loved this game i used to rent it every friday when i was a kid. i liked the jet pack and the boxing gloves. and i had a genesis and snes. i didnt know ppl hated this game until the internet was invented. this game is under-rated fuck you internet.
I'm sorry, this game really, REALLY has a soft spot for me. I love it to death. I love it more than Mega Man 5 or 4 or 3 or even Mega Man X. I love it more than Donkey Kong Country, I love it more than Sonic 3 and Knux... maybe not Super Metroid, but this game does feel hella refined. The robot Masters ARE interesting having nationalities attached to them. The rush adapters are a breath of fresh air that may make the game easy, but Mega Man 6 is what I play when I want to relax and decompress. >
I agree with the review. Mega Man 6 is one of my least favorite Classic series games. I'll still play this before MM4, and maybe before the original in some cases.
First off, opinions aren't stupid if their different. Second, I felt the metal blade was too spamable. Third, the Wily stages weren't that fun. Fourth, the robot masters didn't leave much of an impression on me as ones from other games. Not to say this game (or any of the Mega Man games) are bad I just didn't enjoy it as much. My favorite Mega Man games were 4 and 7. (I haven't played 9, 10, MM:PU, or MM&B yet.)
I know what opinion means, but apparently you don't. Some people don't even like Mega Man. Do I think they suck for not agreeing with me? No. Personally, I love Mega Man 2, I just love 4 more.
I know what "opinion" means. what if i said that my opinion is that shit tastes better than chocolate ice cream, would you put any validity to that opinion?
How can you read my previous comments where I give clear examples of opinions and say that I don't know what it means? You said in your post: "Opinions are based on tastes and preferences" When I gave the example that I think that shit tastes better than chocolate ice cream, isn't that an opinion based on preference? It still doesn't change the fact that some opinions given by dumb people may be true to them, but it's not going to convince anyone with half a brain to take it seriously.
not a bad review, you left out a few things though. Like Story, what we are up against, is there challenge, robot masters, and gameplay. If I wanted trivia I would go to the Mega Man Wiki page. THIS REVIEW WAS AWFUL
I personally don't agree with this review. Mega Man 4/5 were not nearly as good as this game, and it's on par in my opinion with 2, but not as good as 3.
how can 2 be one of your least favorite? it had the best music in the whole series and was improved in every way over the first mega man. I know it's your personal opinion and all, but your personal opinion is stupid.
Oh, and by by the way, opinions can definitely be stupid! What if I told you that in my opinion we should all have to wear clown hats? Or that my opinion is that LJN was the best developer of NES games ever. Opinions are only as smart as the people who have them. Having a stupid opinion about something doesn't make it true, it just means you're stupid. And you have a right to think whatever you want, but when you say stupid shit like you can't expect people to think your opinion is worth much.
utterly forgettable game. its overlooked for good reason. this series installment clearly illustrates capcom had run out of gas creatively. dull soundtrack, uninspired boss design and level design, rehashed enemies. they should have kept this in japan. this game is one of those situations where someone makes something just to say they did in hopes people will support it because its something new from a classic series. no inspiration whatsoever. completely by the numbers.
Love me some MM6. Seriously underappreciated game.
I agree.
Know right!!
agreed
I feel that Mega Man 6's soundtrack is underrated.
It really is. It is a masterclass in every way.
MM6 My take: +The Dr. Wily battle was actually one of the best in the series.
+A few cool and powerful weapons (Flame Man's, Tomahawk Man's, Wind Man's)

Everyone always acts like six is the worst because it's at the end of the series but honestly on its own merits I think it's better than two.
This was the first MM game I beat back in the day and still have it to this day. Love it and still play it.
2:08 Did you mean to say Dr. Wily's? Also, I really like MM6, more than 4 and 5.
You can say what you want but I love this game just as much as the others. I actually used to be afraid to play Centuarman's level back then. 6 is wwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy better tha mega man 4, and 5

which is the best mega man?
What? You don't ike the Rush adaptors?
This is actually my friends favorite NES Mega Man because he loves the level design and thinks it's the best in the series.
I wish they'd release this on virtual console someday
If you're approaching the series fresh, this isn't a bad entry by any stretch... just from the perspective of 1994 when (like me) you had played all the prior titles, it can and does seem a little underwhelming. Still highly recommended, great music, some entertaining boss battles, and a cool new upgrade system make it as much a true Mega Man title as any of the other NES classics, in my opinion.
The soundtrack was so awesome... blizzard man's stage still gets in my head today.
I have no opinion on what MM game is better. I love them all... Own them all... & cherish them all...
kinda bummed you didn't show the two rush armors. punch armor was da shit in that game
People can say what they want about this game, but I loved all of it. Most of the music was awesome, the suits were cool and useful, the weapons felt new and creative [besides plant man's shield], and the robot masters felt unique. It's actually my third favorite in the series besides 3 and 2.
Favourite in the classic with 3 and 9 following close behind!
because like the nes, the ps2 will live on forever as one of the top 3 videogame systems of all time for quality fun games in numbers no other console can touch
My Mega Man phase ended after 3. I tried X, but the magic was gone.
< As you said, it's still 8-bit Mega Man. those pin tight controls and thought out level design is still there, especially with the secret paths through the stages. probably my third favorite Megaman classic.
right after 4 and 3
The Robot Masters in 6 are infinitely more creative than the robot masters than in 2 or 3, hah.
Not exactly, but a quick explanation still would have been good to include. It is a review after all. But nonetheless, it was still good.
Opinions are based on tastes and preferences. Opinions can't even be true, because they only work for one person. Search the term Fan Dumb.
How dare they talk about the gameplay in a video game review. Madness!
I was hoping for examples of bosses or at least some of the lack of creativity/refinement you were talking about. All we got was some midstage gameplay that really illustrated nothing.
Nice to see someone else who like 6 as much as me.

I do like this game! Even if nearly every boss is weak to ONE weapon lol...and we already know which weapon that is ;)
Why do you always use the NES 2? It actually sounds worse, looks less defined, and without the composite mod is overall bad.
I want a solid megaman fighting game.
And 1994 was the year of sonic 3 and knuckles!
i loved this game i used to rent it every friday when i was a kid. i liked the jet pack and the boxing gloves. and i had a genesis and snes. i didnt know ppl hated this game until the internet was invented. this game is under-rated fuck you internet.
Where is the review for Mega Man 5?
I think Mega Man is the best thing about NES. Better than all the Marios or anything else on that console in my opinion.
This was my favorite megaman on the nes, folloed by 3 and 4.
wait wait wait, better than 3? that's widely regarded as being up there with MM2, as the top tier.
I'm sorry, this game really, REALLY has a soft spot for me. I love it to death. I love it more than Mega Man 5 or 4 or 3 or even Mega Man X. Some people are noobs and need a detailed description.
To me the best MM games on the NES are 2,3 and 6. 6 had better bosses and better music than MM 4 & 5, and not to mention the awesome Rush upgrades!.
listen to apologize- timbaland while wacthing this(if u never herd it look it up on youtube)
I agree with the review. Mega Man 6 is one of my least favorite Classic series games. I'll still play this before MM4, and maybe before the original in some cases.
This was my first Mega Man game. And I loved it.
Mega Man 3 and 6 are my favorites. I'm not seeing the problem, here.
Wow. I agree completely.

Great video, love your channel dude
Hey Derek, it´s not that bad. I like Mega man 6, it´s not match for Mega man 2, 4 or 5 but it´s still very good game. And much better than Mega man 3.
Best game to begin playing NES MegaMan games.
Where the fuck is Mega Man 5? You need to review that too.
Personally, I think this game is better than 5 and 2. They were my least favorite. *flame shield on*
What? Mega Man 3 was brilliant, man. I understand if you don't like 4, 5, and 6, but why not 3?
My favorite main series Mega Man....
Someone on Ebay wants 799€ for this game.
Man, he hardly talked about the gameplay, graphics, or music at all!
Mega Man 5 Review? Please!
Actually my favorite non-X Mega Man game.
99.9% of hardcore mega man fans would disagree with you...
I know what opinion means, but apparently you don't. Some people don't even like Mega Man. Do I think they suck for not agreeing with me? No. Personally, I love Mega Man 2, I just love 4 more.
You said next to nothing about the game itself. I expected better from you.
I know what "opinion" means. what if i said that my opinion is that shit tastes better than chocolate ice cream, would you put any validity to that opinion?
All my gusta go's into this game
First MM game I beat.
Please Everyone take pity on Mega
He has been killed from the video game world until CAPCOM CAN GROW A BRAIN!!!!!!
How can you read my previous comments where I give clear examples of opinions and say that I don't know what it means? You said in your post:

You too.
mega man 4 is a travesty, how can you like the 4th one?
LOL
Wtf bruh
I personally don't agree with this review. Mega Man 4/5 were not nearly as good as this game, and it's on par in my opinion with 2, but not as good as 3.
If you seriously don't know how Mega Man plays then idk.
Good show
To each their own.
oh you guys...
playing on a clone NES...
My Opinion
Mega Man 6 > Mega Man 5 > Mega Man 4 > Mega Man 3 > Mega Man 2 > Mega Man 1
how can 2 be one of your least favorite? it had the best music in the whole series and was improved in every way over the first mega man. I know it's your personal opinion and all, but your personal opinion is stupid.
mega man dies at the end
MEGA MAN 6 WAS THE BEST
Meh i like it better than 4 and 5
i love all nes megaman! _D
Oh, and by by the way, opinions can definitely be stupid! What if I told you that in my opinion we should all have to wear clown hats? Nope. You just JUMPANSHOOT
Man I miss this channel
Seriously? Whatever dude, have a nice life.
The fall of mega man started in 4 not this game
How so? Starting with 3, the games just got better and better, and 6 was the best of them all.
***** the best was 3/2 4 started the suckiness of the franchise... until 9 & 10 anyway
oz pardo Well, I'd say 6 and 7 were pretty damn good.
NicRenee Khaw True stuff. Oz is just a typical casual dullard.
***** 7 was okay. 4, 5,6 & 8 were shit as hell.
LOL wtf is wrong with your sound
Do this is the devil May cry 5 of the mega man world.
