    =============================
    Hi friends, thank you all for watching my #dishwasher demo videos. Thanks also for the innumerable comments and queries which has helped me in coming out with more videos answering them all. In this video I have shown #washing of cookers (steel as I've stopped using #aluminium cookers long back) and also their gaskets & weights, aluminium kadais, idli stands, iron dosa tava, anodised roti tava and some more items. I have taken care that not a single item/dish which was shown in my earlier 3 demo videos has been repeated here. These are totally a different set of dishes.
    It has been very difficult to accumulate all the various types of dishes requested by the viewers to be shown washed in the video. But I've tried my best. In the process some dishes may appear cleaner than others (less stained/greasy) the reason being they were all left soaked for a very long time, till the whole lot of dishes was collected. Moreover mine being an older model I don't have the pre rinse program, because of which I cannot leave the dishes to dry until the time they are loaded.
    This is the 1st part showing cookers, kadais and more and there is second video which shows washing of ceramic, glass, melamine and more. Please watch that too.
    I hope you find this video useful and it helps in clearing all your doubts and apprehensions regarding the efficacy of a dishwasher for Indian utensils.
    Thank you for watching. In case you wish to buy check out the buying link given at the top.

    Hi ma'am :), Thanks much for your demo.. Your videos are the best I have come across in terms of dishwashers :) Thanks for all your efforts and explanations with crisp and on-point details... I have one question, What should be the temperature setting when we wash both indaliam and stainless steel cookers at the same time?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  5 років тому +4

      Hi Seshsapriya, thanks for your words of appreciation. Aluminium/indolium will get blackened when washed in high temperature. You can wash in temperatures upto 45-50 degC, whether separately or with SS.
      Steel can withstand higher temperatures, but when washed with aluminium you have to choose a lower temperature cycle to avoid blackening of Aluminium.

    I bought a dishwasher a week ago and found your videos extremely useful. Before zeroing down on Bosch I checked the other brands like IFB & LG as well. The salesmen of all three brands very categorically told me NOT to wash aluminum, iron or copper vessels in the dishwashers. I have also read articles that state the same.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 роки тому +7

      You're right Arati Kumar! None of the manufacturers recommend washing aluminium and metals like silver and copper in a dishwasher, as they will get tarnished in the long run.
      But I've tried and tested these in my dishwasher for years now without any problem. Having said this I would like to add here that much depends on the water quality, the detergent and the program used.
      I have always maintained that I wash them in the low temperature short duration cycle in my machine, with good cleaning results.
      But over the years since my washing is totally dishwasher dependent I've shifted most of my aluminium kadais and cookers to stainless steel. Whatever little of these iI have, I wash them in the dishwasher.
      Thanks.

    Though I am planning to buy diswasher, can you suggest some good one with settings etc to suit aluminum as well apart from Crocery, Glassware, fibreware and obviously SS.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  5 років тому +2

      @Praveen Kumar thank you for your appreciation. Dishwasher technology is the same in all brands, so your cleaning depends on several factors like quality of water, amount of soiling, placement location of utensils, amount of detergent used. I am sure you will master these over time. Hence final decision is based on your personal preferences and other factors like price, availability of service at your location, etc. From what I know, the brands which are most popular in India are BOSCH, IFB, Siemens, LG (not necessarily in that order). Although BOSCH and Siemens are part of the same group, of late I am not seeing much of Siemens.
      I would advise you to check out buyer/customer feedback on online sites like Amazon, Flipkart, which would give you some idea.
      I am having BOSCH for the past 7 years and I can vouch for its performance. My model has limited programs but the present models available in the market have many more programs.
      I am not sure whether you intend buying online or offline. Please check out at any large appliance showroom for the brands available.

    Madam
    Kindly let us know whether Aluminium cooker can be placed in the dishwasher?
    Also whether 5 litre pigeon cooker fits in.
    And whether 1.8 litre Aluminium rice cooker vessel can be placed in the dishwasher?
    Most videos cover mainly serving utensils. Very rarely do cooking utensils are covered and the dimensions and the materials of those cooking utensils are not discussed.
    Discussing the limitation of a dishwasher gives us the complete picture. Hope you agree.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Kalyani, Dishwasher manufacturers do not recommend washing aluminium in dishwasher as it is likely to get discoloured. But my personal experience has been that in soft water and low temperature short cycle, aluminium does not get discoloured. This is what I have shared in my videos. So if you have hard water, I would not recommend washing aluminium cookware including cookers. I have stopped using Aluminium cookers since many years and have switched over to SS cookers.
      Coming to the size, 5 litre cooker, 1.8 litre rice cooker vessel all can be placed in dishwasher. I have Prestige 8 Litre cooker which I have washed in dishwasher comfortably.
      Almost all utensils that we use in our daily use are in a standard size range and all these can be accommodated. This is why I did not mention about size of utensils in my videos. And dishwasher has adjustable top rack which helps in adding some extra height for the bottom rack, so little bigger utensils also can be placed.
      But I agree that the size aspect would be useful if mentioned. Thank you for that suggestion I shall try to mention maximum size of utensils that can be placed, in my future videos.
      In my videos, I have shown washing cookers, kadais and other utensils which are used for cooking.
      For limitations, please watch my detailed demo of dishwasher where at the end of the video I have shown pros and cons. ua-cam.com/video/cAPJ-0r_SlU/v-deo.html

    Hi mam.. I washed my aluminium cooker in dish washer.. It came out discoloured.. Can you please tell me what should I do to clean it properly.. Can we wash aluminium kadai also in dishwasher washer? If yes at wat temp?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  5 років тому +1

      Hi Lavanya, Discolouring of aluminum means you must have washed it in a longer high temperature cycle. The manual clearly says that aluminum will get discoloured when washed in the dishwasher. But I've been doing it regularly, but in a short low temperature 29 minute program cycle and till date all my aluminum cookware like cooker, kadai, idli plates are all intact after washing them in the dishwasher for the last 7 years.
      You can see in this video I've shown loading an aluminum kadai at 1min:10 sec and aluminum idli plates at 1min:20 sec. Please watch that. Also watch the end result, by playing the video fully.
      The only solution to avoid your aluminum from becoming black or discoloured is to wash them in a lower temperature cycle.
      I hope I've made myself clear. Please try it and share your experience.
      Thank you.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  5 років тому +3

      Hi Sneha Da. Well, thank you very much. Your comment is genuine. This has been mentioned by a few others too. This is because you are just seeing the dishes and not feeling them. I have a habit of soaking the used dishes in water immediately after use till the time I wash them. And in my house, items like plates used for eating are not put in the sink with the leftover food particles. We have the habit of rinsing the plates after eating. This helps for both manual washing as well as dishwashing. It definitely reduces the effort and gives better results. Coming back to your point, when I soak the dishes and empty the water just before washing, with a little effort most of the food particles, etc get
      dislodged from the dishes and the dishes appear clean. What you cannot see is the oily feeling, grime and the residual food particles. My machine is 5 year old and it does not have pre rinse option, hence I tend to collect a full load of dishes and load them, keeping them soaked in water till that time. If you keep utensils dry after cooking or eating, it would be very difficult to clean them (both manually or in dishwasher). In case the machine has pre wash, it is advisable to use the pre wash although soaking them in water is still the best option in my opinion, to get good washing results.
      Anyway I have uploaded some more videos on dishwasher and I think you may find more soiled vessels in those videos than what appears in this video. I am sharing their links below :
      ua-cam.com/video/5RIv4buIHtE/v-deo.html - Quick Demo Dishwasher
      ua-cam.com/video/KLO6XJ0f12Q/v-deo.html - Full steel utensils long cycle with Powerball
      Hope you will take the time to view the above videos. I think I have answered your queries.
      If you still have any queries, I shall be happy to answer to the best of my knowledge.
      Thank you.

      Hi, manufacturers do not recommend washing aluminium in dishwasher. But I usually wash in low temperature short duration cycle and it comes out clean for me. I've shown this in the video.
      But aluminum and other metals become black if washed in high temperatures. Also in hard water they get damaged.
      It is better to shift from aluminium to steel for safely washing in the dishwasher.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Rajeswari, dishwasher tablets, detergent, rinse aid are all chemicals, just like the detergent we use for washing clothes and for manual washing of dishes.
      But they are harmful only if consumed.
      They are being used up for cleaning the dishes in high temperature and dishes are finally rinsed with hot water, hence there won't be any detergent left on the dishes. But still I follow a practice of washing any utensil under water before I use for cooking, that way it is totally clean
      It's harmful for health only if we consume it.
      Hope you're satisfied with my answer.
      Thank you.

      It is not advisable to wash aluminum in dishwasher as aluminum tends to turn black or discolored in high temperature programs and coming into contact with detergent. But if the water is soft and low temperature programs are used, then aluminium gets cleaned without much problem. This is what I have shared in this video.
      Over the years I have replaced my aluminium cookers, kadais and utensils with stainless steel and this is something I would recommend to everyone.
      So I would suggest washing aluminium only in low temperature program if your water permits; till you replace them with stainless steel.

      @BhuvanaAdi  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Aryaa, do you have Bosch dishwasher? Why don't you try the eco program cycle?
      But for good cleaning, placement of dishes and proper detergent and correct quantity is also important.
      Try to place the more stained dishes just above the spray arm where there are more holes, so that more jet of water is sprayed thus easing the stain from the cups, pans and cleaning them thoroughly.
      If your cups are very stained, and if they are good quality glass or ceramic or steel which withstands temperature, then wash them a couple of times in intense cycle, then you can start washing them in other cycles.
      Hope this helps.

    Mam these utensils were not that much dirty. Can you show how does Dishwasher clean the pressure cooker where the rice or daal has been cooked recenty. How does it clean the stucked rice particles inside it ?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  5 років тому +1

      Hi Adietya, Please see my other dishwasher videos in my channel. The key to get good cleaning of even hard and stubborn deposits is to keep the utensils soaked in water till the time of loading in dishwasher. This applies to tea, milk deposits, fried curry deposits, etc. Rice and daal deposits are softer in comparison to the above deposits.
      After that, if you empty the water and load into dishwasher, it will give you very good results and the residue would have become soft and easy for the machine to clean. In a very few utensils you may find a bit of residue left at the end of the cycle (which can also be avoided with proper placement inside machine, etc), which can be cleaned with a soft brush under water. We have to remember dishwasher is not a magic machine and there is no physical scrubbing. But still, once we learn some basic tips and tricks of loading it and operating, it can more than sufficiently clean our utensils.
      Of course, getting good cleaning also depends on the quality of water, type and quantity of detergent used, correct placement of utensils inside the dishwasher, etc.
      I hope I have been able to answer your queries. I would request you kindly look at my dishwasher videos playlist. About 16 to 17 videos are there covering several topics. In case you still have any doubt, please feel free to write and I shall try to clarify to the best of my ability and knowledge.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  5 років тому +1

      Hi, yes most of the dishes come out clean in quick wash program. If there is too much stubborn milk cream/tea stain stuck on milk pot or tea pans, sometimes they may not get 100% cleaned, but the grease will get softened, so you can wash it immediately under running water and it will be cleaned. Another option would be to accumulate all heavily soiled dishes and load them together and run a longer program.
      Proper placement of heavily soiled dishes at places where spray arm has more holes will also give better cleaning.
      Watch my other videos on dishwasher usage in my channel, to clarify more doubts.
      Regarding drying, yes the dishwasher dries all the dishes, because of the rinse aid.
      Hope I've cleared your doubts. Thank you.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  6 років тому +6

      Hi Aisha, thank you for finding my video helpful.
      I would suggest you avoid washing your anodised handi pressure cooker in the dishwasher so that it is durable and retains it's coating, shine and appearance. Because though dishwasher will clean it, the coating and shine will wear off in the long run if put in high temperature cycle. If at all you want to wash it, do it occasionally, that too in the short low temperature cycle only. Higher temperature will totally spoil the cooker, because without the coating it will become plain aluminium.
      My suggestion to one and all is if you are dependent totally on your dishwasher, slowly replace your non stick, aluminium and anodised cookware to stainless steel, ceramic or glass. They are not only hygeinic but also safe to be washed in the dishwasher.
      Hope I have made the point clear. Thank you.

      Also did you by any chance wash them in high temperature cycles? Even in the short low temperature cycle the water hardness plays an important role. In any case, in the long run the coating will get damaged. That's the reason manufacturers do not recommend washing these in the dishwasher.

      Hi Srilatha, nonstick can be washed only in a low temperature wash cycle. In higher temperatures the coating can wear off. In the long run even in low temperature cycle it can wear off if washed regularly. Hence it is better avoided. Occasionally you can wash in short low temperature cycle though. Hello Madam, Very informative demos.. question to you: Can we wash aluminium kadai and idli plates in dishwasher.? Manufacturer has advised not to use aluminium and wooden material inside. But I saw you loading and mentioning it can be washed. Will it damage the machine or utensil? Are there any precautions we need to take?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 роки тому +1

      @Kanchana, yes it's right that manufacturers do not recommend washing of aluminium cookware in dishwasher. But I've been washing since years in my dishwasher without causing any damage to the machine or utensils. Having said this I would like to add here that much depends on the water quality. For me water being fairly soft, I have not faced the problem of discoloration. But even for me anodised cooker has lost its shine when I'd washed in high temperature program.
      So I can say that if your water is soft and you wash in the quick low temperature cycle, the aluminium does not get tarnished/discoloured. But it's better to avoid washing aluminium if you have hard water. Because hard water can corrode and discolor aluminum.
      So I would suggest that you try first with any one aluminium cookware as a trial and then based on the result, you can try out others similarly. But wash only in shorter low temperature cycles.
      I've never washed wood in the dishwasher. It should not be washed.

Is quick mode good for a regular day load?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 роки тому +2

      Hi @Kanchana, since your water is soft, you can safely wash them in Quick 45 deg cycle as well as in Eco 50 deg cycle. In my water, my aluminium cookware does not get darkened in both the cycles. After I started using dishwasher in the last 8 years I've slowly shifted over to steel, discarding many of my old aluminium cookware. I don't have any aluminium cooker now. I have a few aluminium kadais, idli plates which I use occasionally and a few cooker separators which I hardly use. Now I have steel cookers and steel kadais which I use regularly and am able to wash safely in any program cycle in the dishwasher.
      Quick program can be used for light to medium soiled dishes. For soft water with the right quantity of a good detergent and proper placement of greasy dishes, you can get 90% cleaning results.
      Hope my answer helps. Like I said earlier you can try once or twice in both the cycles and then decide.

    Well in my humble opinion the question here is not of washing & results. Anything you put in the dishwasher with a melting point ≥ 75°C will come out clean.
    The question here is of sustainability of the practice...should we really risk the anodised layer to the perils of caustic detergents at elevated temperature? That for sure is going to deplete the protective anodising (for which we may have paid a premium) on the surface overtime.
    Both dishwasher & cutlery manufacturers explicitly discourage exposing anodised aluminium to caustic detergents at elevated temperatures. The vulnerability of even "dishwasher safe" range of cutlery to dishwasher cleaning process is a well known fact.
    It goes without saying that non-stick cookware & non-anodised aluminum cookware don't stand a chance.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  6 років тому +7

      Hi Ankit, Thank you for your wonderful insights on aluminium, anodised and nonstick cookware cleaning in a dishwasher. I fully agree with you.
      The high thermal conductivity of aluminium is the main reason for it to be used as cookware since decades. Also stainless steel was not predominant then. The ease of cooking with aluminium and it's cost is the deciding factor for so may households to prefer using aluminium.
      But nowadays stainless steel cookware is available in various shapes, sizes, thickness (gauge) suitable for all forms of cooktops. And hence I have shifted to stainless steel for almost all my cooking needs like cooker, kadais, pans etc..Even before I had the dishwasher I hardly used to have any non stick or anodised cookware barring one or two as we are very well aware of the ill effects of using a coating worn out cookware.
      Having said this I have only replied to queries on aluminium washing in my comments section. I never actively promote the use/purchase of aluminium cookware. In addition to giving prudent advice on aluminium washing in dishwasher, I have supplemented with the advice to wean away from aluminium and switch over to stainless steel. Though the initial cost of SS cookware might be on the higher side, if you see the benefits like durability, health factor, ease to cook in, maintenance and above all dishwaser safe in any programme; it would be a sensible decision to switch over to steel, if you are dependent on your dishwasher for all your dish washing needs.
      I would like to repeat a statement which I had made in one of my replies : "Whichever utensil/dish/cookware doesn't suit my dishwasher is added to my DISCARD LIST"!
      Thank you once again for bringing up this subject which I too feel strongly about.

    • @AnkitYadav-td6mg
      @AnkitYadav-td6mg 6 років тому

      Can't Agree More....
      Only downside I see to SS is that I being a North-Indian, the regular frying (especially potatoes) tends to stick more onto the SS surface than to the aluminum surfaces. But since dishwashers are pretty efficient by large that won't be an issue.
      The limitations of regular anodising are that on the microscopic/lattice level it is not a smooth homogeneous process & t/f any undulations/fissures on the surface are exploited by dishwasher caustics.
      "Dishwasher Safe" anodising, I feel employs more sophisticated techniques to achieve a more uniform & homogenous surface layer, but in the practical settings, I feel, it too ain't immune to the wear & tear of everyday cooking & washing.

    I hv water softener plant for house ... Then do I need dishwasher salt?
    Are rinse aid and salt compulsory needed?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  6 років тому +4

      Hi Akshay Yadav Thanks for your query. Actually rinse aid is not compulsory as it is used only for extra shine and drying. But if rinse aid is not used, then spotting would be seen on the utensils even if the water is soft. Regarding salt, since the dishwasher comes with an inbuilt softener which uses salt, it is better to use the salt with the lowest setting so that the consumption is minimum. I am not sure the water softener in the machine can be run empty without salt. Even the rinse aid setting can be kept to the minimum so that rinse aid usage is very less. Actually we have very good quality water, still I use both salt and rinse aid. But the setting is kept at the minimum.

      Hi Humera which dishwasher do you have and which model?
      May be you are not selecting the right program cycle and the detergent quantity taken is not enough.
      Aluminium will get discolored after continuous washing in the dishwasher. If you wash them in dishwasher, do it only in a low temperature cycle.
      Non stick which is said to be dishwasher safe by the company can be washed, but not in very high temperatures. If you have any old non stick, try washing in the 2 hour cycle, then see how the result is. Accordingly you can decide.

      Hi poornima, The wash timings are different for different cycles. The shortest program in my machine is 0 hr:29 min and the longest program is 2 hr:55 min. Normally the longer the cycle, the more the power consumption. But there is an option called Vario Speed. For any program, you can choose with vario or without vario. If you choose vario, the time duration reduces but this consumes more power and water. So in this case, less time means more power. Hope this clears your doubt. Thank you.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Asim, I think I have shown in the video that I am using Finish detergent powder and also quick 29 min cycle. Sorry to learn that your aluminium cooker lost colour and lustre. Actually no dishwasher manufacturer recommends washing aluminium in dishwasher. Aluminium is very sensitive to water, temperature and detergent. This increases with the water hardness. Since your water seems to be causing problem in aluminium, I would recommend not washing aluminium.
      But if the water is soft, then some aluminium do get washed without any problem. This is what I have shown in the video and have shared in replies to numerous viewers comments.
      And slowly, I have removed aluminium from my kitchen and replaced with stainless steel.
      If the water is fairly soft and supports washing aluminium without discolouring it, then one can wash aluminium, but only in low temperature short cycles.
      Hope this is clear.
      I have posted over 50 videos on dishwasher alone in my channel. Please check out the same. Thanks for watching my video and sharing your views.

This one I could afford, so I saved and bought this during the October Amazon sale for using for myself in addition to my Bosch and also in the process make videos for my channel and viewers. As till date I've not got any sponsors or any brand collaborations, whenever viewers request I've to spend on my own and do the videos for their benefit.
      Also just like people have 2/3 TVs, many number of mobiles, cars 😀; I have gone ahead and bought an additional dishwasher for me. Since it's table top, I'm able to keep it on my kitchen counter, in contrast to my Bosch which is in the utility area outside the kitchen.

    I have whirlpool 30 mins cycle, it does only wash doesn't dry.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 роки тому

      Hi Priti, by drying if you mean totally dry, even in other long programs it takes time to dry. Unless you give some time dishes aren't dry to be taken out immediately after wash.
      In the 29 minutes Quick cycle it's less dry than other cycles, but within no time dishes get dried, if you leave the machine slightly open for 10-15 minutes. This is the case with most dishwashers.
      The drying happens in last part of any cycle. I think in quick cycle, there is no time for the extra drying. But even then I don't find my dishes wet in that cycle as I give some time for drying, before taking out.

      I mean that if you're going to wash immediately after use, i.e. loading in the dishwasher and running a cycle immediately then it is fine, but if you collect a load of utensils and then plan to load add wash them, it is better kept soaked and not allow it to dry. This is especially to be followed for milk and tea utensils.

      Hi, sorry for the delayed reply. I somehow have missed this query.
      As I have shown in the video, wash aluminium only in low temperature Quick wash cycle. At higher temperature cycles aluminium tends to blacken, so avoid washing in those programs.

      Hi Rajeswari, please share your water hardness details. What is your current salt and rinse aid settings?
      From what you've written I think you must be having soft water.
      It's not advisable to use tablet for short cycles, as they will not be used up totally, leaving soapy dishes.
      Please visit my website and check out the services provided by me to make you well versed with your Dishwasher in a month's time. I will address all your problems.
      Thank you.

    May i know the difference between sms60l12in vs sms60l18in?

      @BhuvanaAdi  6 років тому +1

      Hi amazing videos. Thanks for your query.
      Hi, feature wise there is no difference between the two models. They are identical. The only difference is the body and panel colour. 12IN is white and 18IN is silver. The difference in price is because of the colour.
      For your information, I am sharing the comparision between the two
      models taken from the BOSCH website.

      Thank you. Hope this information is useful.

    Is that clean Copper utensils in dishwasher?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 роки тому +1

      Copper can be washed in low temperature cycle, it will be cleaned but you will not get the shine like manual wash.
      Manufacturers do not recommend washing aluminium, copper, silver etc. to be washed in dishwasher.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 роки тому +1

      Hi poornima, if you use one cycle everyday (mix of short and long cycles), then the number of units per month will be about 40. So for 2 months, the dishwasher should consume about 80 units. Thank you.

      @BhuvanaAdi  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Seema, it is not advisable to wash anodised cookware in dishwasher as the coating will wear off slowly. Also since there is scrubbing involved while washing in dishwasher, it's difficult to clean stubborn stain from anodised tava.

    Hello 👋
    I have purchased 12 place Bosch dishwasher. I put my hindalium pressure cooker into it it got decoloured .

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 роки тому

      Hi Vijaylakshmi S S, first of all washing aluminium in dishwasher is not recommended by manufacturers. But I have been washing them in short low temperature cycle and have had no discoloration. Moreover I've almost shifted from aluminium to steel utensils, except a ver few items.
      You have not mentioned which cycle you washed your cooker in. If it was in high temperature it will get discoloured. Moreover with certain water types it gets discoloured in low temperatures itself.
      If this is not suitable in your machine with your water type, it's better avoided being washed in the dishwasher.
