    I just want to thank you for introducing me to this incredible amp line. I had never heard of them until I saw them on your review. I put this amp along with there 800/4 on my Harley Road Glide and it's crazy loud!!!! I have the 440/4 pushing 2, Kicker 6.5's, 2, DB18 6.5's and 2, Audiotek Tweeters. And the 800/4 pushing 4, Pioneer 6500 6x9's. And YES, it's all on a motorcycle!!! Just wanted to say thank you for the introduction. I will try to upload a video so you can hear it and see it for yourself. Love the products!!!!

      Motorcycle systems are a challenge because efficiency is of top priority. You only really have 30a constant 60a dynamic and these amps will draw that, before your stock Harley can provide enough juice. add a pair of fog lamps and your in real trouble,lol

    I've been running the TS400x4 on my highs and mids for several months now and I'm very impressed by these little amps. Needed something to fit under the seat of my truck and still put out some power. Couldn't be more happy with it so far. I'd love to upgrade my sub amp. Been running a Crunch V600 since 1999 and it still pounds my 10's daily.

      I saw your comment on UA-cam and wanted to ask your advice. I have a Ford F-150 that I just put 4 Audiopipe 6x8’s(loudspeaker not 2 way) 4 crossovers and 4 tweeters in. Each speaker has RMS rating at 125watts. I NEED A GOOD 4 channel amp. Have you ever had a Taramps amplifier stop working? Are they clear? I was thinking about buying a DS800x4 but absolutely nobody where I live has ever heard of Taramps amplifiers. I have nobody to ask about reliability or music quality. If you get a chance please let me know about these amplifiers.

    • @d.j.smileyofficial
      @d.j.smileyofficial Рік тому

      The highs are really sharp and crispy. Perfect for me because I am deaf from 40 years of Club speaker monitors.
      The mids are really clean and audible.
      But use the enclosed tweeter capacitor to keep the highs in check. I used the rear tweeters without the capacitor and they are sharper than the front tweeter with capacitors.
      These are not bass speakers for sure. For the bass and subs I’m using the Cerwin Vega Sun for that.

    Appreciate all your tests as we all can't Doc Brown power our Amps. Working out ideas for my VW Passat 1.8T Wagon which has 2 component sets (one in front and one in Rear passenger area). This will work well for those while using teramps bass 800 for the 800watt rms Skar 12 ill have setup in the back. Should compliment the DVD player nicely till I find the right monitors 2 fabricate into the back of the front headrests. Between listening to music and watching movies like Jurrasic Park feeling as if ur in one of those vehicles I'd say would compliment it nicely.

    Any notes about what input voltage these things like? Specifically the DS line. Thinking about using one of the DS 800X2s for a smaller single cab space, 1 ~100W component set and a low power 8" sub 200W or so. Low budget build, looking for "good enough" SQ at higher volumes than factory. Not my first install just looking at other options for parts as the market changes.

      Can you hear any hiss from your tweets? I recently bought two ts400x4's and while they are pretty loud and seem to definetly put out rated power, one channel sounds slightly different than the other on both amps and i get a high frequency hiss at all volumes even off a clean 12v supply from the wall. I was thinking of trying the ds440 instead, seeing that its of similar size i just want both channels to sound the same without any noticeable hissing.

    How the AMM-1 works: reads impedance and amperage; applies ohm's law. i'm currently trying to find some panel meters that will do a similar job, but every single digital ac panel meter i find only works within the 45 - 60 hz range and most are 80 - 300v. I've got panel meters to tell me how much power my amps are consuming and how much current is being pushed through my speakers, but the voltage alludes me. i found one that doesn't have the frequency limit and claims to be usable on audio amplifiers, but the whole starting at 80v thing. i'm thinking about just picking it up, giving it a whirl, then returning it if it doesn't work. going to be searching out analog meters next then if all else fails maybe i'll buy some cheap dmm's and tear them apart or maybe pick up a couple of the cheap dso kits. i get that it's a specialty tool and monitors the wavelength for clipping, but for a hobbyist, the price on the amm-1 is just ridiculous for what it does. anybody out there have a solution?

    • @seanman6541
      @seanman6541 6 місяців тому +2

      A bit late, but I just bought this amp and the first thing I did was take it apart. There are no components on the back side of the PCB. The 4 SMD MOSFETS near the large inductor/transformer are for the power supply and using special PCB design techniques, the heat they create is conducted through the PCB to the case/heatsink on the other side. The same applies to the 4 half-bridge drivers on the opposite end of the PCB. They are IR4321M "integrated analog input Class D audio amplifier" IC's. These are actually really good parts, made by Infineon, a prominent and well-known semiconductor manufacturer. The half-bridge MOSFET output stage is integrated into the IC. I would like to see some epoxy holding the inductors, transformer, and capacitors in place, the silicone is too soft and the leads on these heavy components WILL fatigue and eventually fracture due to the vibration from being in a car. I would apply some electronics potting compound on the components to keep them from vibrating, but I want to see how long it will last without.

  • @5abivt
    @5abivt 5 років тому +4

    Great review. Here’s one thing I hardly find on ANY channel dealing with car audio components. What’s the difference between a budget amp like this and a very expensive amp that puts out the same ? I feel there HAS to be some difference ? I mean is it in sound quality or frequency or power draw ? Or do they run hotter/cooler etc ?

    • @wal
      @wal  5 років тому +4

      There are many reasons including 1) engineering costs 2) assembly cost 3) raw material cost 4) component cost 5) profit margin. Most cases the expensive amps have a lot of engineering costs factored in and many use better quality components (caps/transistors/potentiometers). Sound quality wise? That’s up to the person listening. Good amps just make the sound louder and don’t take anything away or create anything new
