Today we are taking an in-depth look at the Taramps Smart 3, a somewhat revolutionary product in the inexpensive, full bridge amplifier design area. This amp promises to deliver 3000 watts across 2, 1.8, 1.6, 1.3 and 1 ohm loads. The equal power portion is nothing new as JL Audio has shown the Slash series amps that incorporate equal power across several ohm loads as well for almost 20 years now. In addition, Rockford Fosgate has the BDCP design in their Power Series amps which performs a similar function. That said, this Taramps Smart 3 provides one huge benefit...price! This amp at the time of filming is $265 shipped from Amazon, an incredible value!

Sam did not do a good job on this one,the bass 3k does not do 3000rms at 12.6v it requires 14.4v to achieve 3000rms

Depending on which brand you went with, 5k watts could have cost you $15k from what I remember, if you went with a brand like Zapco back in the day (RIP Zapco)

Most definitely. It's amazing to be a 16 year old today but it's like a lot of 16 year old stoney and want to drive to day and are satisfied with their poopy cellphone speaker. Lol.
or the ppi art series a1200.2.. with that lime green hose water cooler... that was so beautiful lol... i still have a flawless set of boston acoustics pro series 10.8lf's with a soundstream reference 1000sx stuffed in a closet... cant get myself to use em tho.... like im hiding a bar of gold or something...

The rail limiting is gonna save some vehicles with the full bridge. I've not bought them just because there scary and have seen them melt a vehicle. This new tech now its definitely worth another look from me at least.
I'm not usually a Taramps fan, but this is by far the best amplifier I've seen from them. 2k @ 4 ohms and 3k @ 2+1 ohms! Very nice results, and the price is right! 3k watts for $265 is a killer deal, especially with the specs of the amplifier.

Follow Up. Installed my Smart 3 on my competition motorcycle system, pushing 4 8" Massive Summo 84 Subs. Wired to 1.8ohm electrical. The bass is strong with great sound quality. Won 1st place in my class in Daytona at bike week. Great amp!

I have a question for you I just bought the smart 3 amplifier and I noticed on the bottom it’s kind of a loose on one side. Like you could bend the metal in and out. There’s no loose screws or anything but it’s just weird how one side you could bend it in and out is that normal?

Ive been running my 2 skar zvx12v2 subs wired at half ohm on this taramps smart3 1-2 ohm...trust me its been 8months daily driver and it works PERFECT
What does your electrical look like? I'm considering same but 2 evl's. I have 320alt with 350ah of agm. Debating .5 ohm or 2ohm

I was impressed by the power handling of those taramps. That smart 3 one by far was awesome. I have seen amps that do more then their rated power tho. That was a good demo derek.

Everyone used to talk crap about taramp! Now it's the best selling Brazilian amp available. Probably most dependable. They've upgraded inputs which as far as I know puts them ahead of the rest of the Brazilian companies that continue to use 4 guage inputs in the same power category. No one can argue they hit their rated numbers. At this point my only knock would be that they are built very cheap, however I guess that's the tradeoff for the cheap price! Summary. You'll definitely get the power, but tiffany ain't cheap! Great video. Very informative. And I love the smart guy at the end really breaking it down!
You must have not heard about Soundigital then, Only issue is they cost a little more, Taramps are only popular due to their price & size otherwise people would look elsewhere.
@@HashDogg06 maybe so! But fact is SD cost a lot more although to some money ain't a issue. Taramp has improvised a way to deliver quality and value all into one product that does rated power. I specify product because taramp has expanded it's lineup far beyond the competition. Offering amps, speakers, processors, chargers, crossovers, and more! Not to mention the variety is exclusive. You say prices, but I disagree. Hell stetsom is cheaper and not nearly the success of recent times. Taramp has displayed the ability to bounce back from what once was a horrible product to now the elite. Just shows the dedication and commitment of taramp to deliver the best affordable products! And that's why people support taramp! And oh yeah, taramp for the win...
Sound digital is double the price. I'll be getting a taramp when time comes. Why spend double??
Taramps is innovating faster than any other car audio company in my opinion. Full bridge isn’t new, MMATS has been using it since the 90’s, constant power isn’t new, JL introduced 15 years ago...but combining the two in a 3kW amp for $265 in a rock solid design? Yeah pretty freaking amazing! Now they just need to work on cosmetics so they don’t look like every other amp on the market

I know a lot of these amps are good, some are great-but I would like his opinion on SOUND QUALITY, as this is what I crave most.
SQ is subjective so unless it’s really bad or really good I don’t mention

Thanks for these vids! Been in car audio since 1999 and your vids eliminate the “oh that amp does this” that every idiot says in this industry. I ran stetsom in 2010 and it was ok. I just ordered a smart 3 and will see how I like it. Might be putting away the dd m5 for 2 of these
If these Smart 3's are reliable, that's an awesome amp for it's price and size. Haven't heard anything bad about their reliability.

I finally got my Taramps Smart 3 today! Made my choice based on your video. I have a hd 3k 1 ohm. But I noticed a big difference with the smart 3. Plus I played it hard on a 40 mile trip and it was barely warm! The hd would have been very hot. Thanks for all the info on this amp Big D and Sam👍😎💪💪💪💥💯
Stock alternator and 2 batteries both in the trunk. Short runs of 4g. But plan on going to 0 gage. But does fine with 4 gage. I have videos of my voltage barely get below 13s. Sometimes its in 12s but not much.
Nice to see the amp wars, as prices fall lower and lower, amps get tougher, more powerful, and more versatile.
It a win for the consumer, as we're getting more for our $, all the way around. I'm wanting to try one of these smart series amps, and because of videos like this, it'll be sooner than later. Great video, thanks for what you do man.

I got this amp based on this video and at first, I was disappointed with output and the clipping. Right before I got this amp my head unit's sub output died on me. I have a Skar 2000.1D and when I hooked it up off the Alpine amps output it did not sound good, so I thought the amp was the problem. Got the Smart 3K and same problem, hardly any bass. Then it hit me, I was using the head unit's built crossover's to set the crossover point. So I was only sending the amp 70hz and above. I went in and turned the crossover off to get full signal to Alpine, then cross the front and rear channels and give the sub full range and used the Taramps built in crossover for it. Got the gains set just about perfect and while listening today jamming hard to Awolnation's Sail, it actually felt like my seat was being pushed on it's track by the 2 Sundown SA15s tuned to 30 hz. This amp is a beast and so much smaller than my Skar, which is a really good amp for 2000 watts. Now my only problem is I have to find the Skar a new home.
This amp is leaps and bounds better than the Skar RP2k. That amp is prone to problems

My amp just came in today, i was very skeptical at first because it is so small but this thing is no slouch. Im very surprised at how much power this thing puts out. Taramps did a great job with this amp. For those wondering i have dual 1/0 going into the + and - with the help of a reducer and I have 3 batts 1 redtop under the hood and 2 agm platinums in the back with a 270 amp singer alt. My voltage stays above 14 so I would say this amp is pretty good on power. If anyone is thinking about getting the amp and has any questions feel free to shoot me a message !
How did you get dual 1/0 adapter to fit? Did you file it down?
just to clarify I used the 0/1 to 4 gauge reducer in conjuction with the dual 0/1 to 0/1 adapters.
How does the vu meter work? He never showed it in the video
