I’m surprised with how clean it all is like the grain even matches each other on the battery cover to the rest of the system so you picked a nice winter aesthetic

That is a super useful and easy mod! it would be great if they made custom battery shells that had the charging port nicely exposed along with a clear section for the lights.

Pretty cool mod. I was thinking about doing these to my advance that I have sitting around but wasn’t sure of the complexity of it. Love your videos though, got me into taking apart my old handhelds and giving them a proper clean from years of sweaty hand grease!
Nice battery mod. I would probably get a reproduction shell and cut that up incase in the future wanted to go back to the original shell. Love the woodgrain case.

"Wood Shell" looks really spot on. I agree though the hole needs to be not cut out that way. Sure it is functional but it would look tidier cut out. I probably do not have the skills to do the tidy way but it would look great and I am sure you could handle it.

"Wood Shell" is my jam! My first system was the Intellivision, and it had wood grain. Even pre ordered the Founders Edition of the upcoming Amico system that is also wood grain.

Wood shell looks nice, i am going to buy the purpleshish pearl color in hope of making a full set of GBA, GBC, pocket etc. Their shells are very high quality. Oh I also have the Red/Burgundy velvet color, it feels very nice to the touch.

I remember having the big rechargable batteries for my GBA. It had a larger grip included (to hide all the extra space it used).

I have both this type of mod and AA rechargeable batteries. The price has jacked so much for this mod since I purchased mine, originally, I'll just stick to the rechargeable AA lithium batteries and retain the original integrity of the shell.

You can make a clean hole with soldering iron. And you can use your new knife to clean the meldet edges

Wood shell! Maybe if you do another of these battery mods, it could be an idea to mark the end of the usb port with something that will leave a mark on the inside of the battery cover, (soft pencil lead for example?). That way, when you attempt to close the battery cover over it, if should leave some kind of mark indicating where you need to cut a slot.
Either that or stick a very small and thin bit of adhesive foam on the inside of the battery cover. I'm thinking the usb port will leave an imprint which might again serve as a guide for cutting a slot.
(I'm only suggesting this as it does seem a shame to cut such a large section out of a very nice case).
