You do get these problems with dealing with Chinese companies. The company I worked for imported HSP cars which is where this car comes from, we had a batch of nitro trucks and 1 in 4 of them they had fitted the diffs in the wrong way round, so the trucks would only run backwards. It took many emails and a video to get them to understand the problem. At least being the importers we could test every one and rebuild them correctly. And a batch of large scale petrol cars from another company that would unbind the receiver when you started the engine. It took weeks to convince the factory there was a problem, then we had to open each one and swap out the receivers with new ones. I would hope that the new cars you've bought were from the first batch and have been sitting on a shop shelf. Once the problem was discovered I should expect CML to open them up and test that the gyros are set correctly before sending out to the shops, so all models sold after you told them should have been checked and corrected as the cost in time and money is less than the cost of dealing with the customer complaints and telling shops and customers how to fix it.
I had to trim the body around wheels on mine! The stock wheels work totally fine, but if you don't trim the molding around the back wheel well it will also hit while ballooning and send into a spin. I also had the same issue with losing front drive! Soon as I did both, never happened again. Love the car
Ok, one question... what's with that rear wing? The angle on it makes it look like it's on backwards. Anyway, it's an easy fix, but this is why I don't like integrated gyros. I'd rather either have a separate unit or no gyro at all.
If Kevin didn't catch the issue, how is someone buying their first RC supposed to figure it out? If it is an "RTR", I think it needs to be reviewed it AS IS out the box - that's how the majority of people spending their money are going to experience it, especially the newbies, and it would suck for them to be put off from the hobby.
As a manufacturer to send this out after months of them being sold is shocking even putting a leaflet or a flyer in the box would save people so much grief when first using them FTX should be ashamed
What a shame some YT creators shit canned such an awesome 1/10 street basher. I bet they feel stupid now and i would hope in the future rc companies would be hesitant to send them cars to review. My god some people are thick as bricks.
@@KevinTalbotTV I don’t think any RC electronics are intuitive enough to not need a manual. ESC’s usually have LED based menus & settings, there’s no way you’d know what to do or how to do it without a manual or video tutorial. Unless they start covering them with labelled buttons!
That was one awaking video Phill ! I follow you and Kevin and some others in the business, but sometimes Kev have the habit to jump over his own shadow. It's not about love or hate Phill . It's about to be a professional. Keep it up mate. Cheers
I kinda suspected that Kev was simply over looking something. Thanks, for the "proper" FTX video LOL. You and Kev are both great entertainment, and nobodys perfect.
Had the same problem when when i got mine also that's why i made a little video on it on the gyro also but I'm sure on mine i had to press it twice 🤔 (HNR )
I only own one rc car and it’s a brushed Traxxas slash wich I upgraded a bit but I found your video super informative and really nice to watch Kevin Talbot makes me angry by destroying “cheap stuff” for no reason
I've liked these since they first came out. I nearly got one a few months back but went for the Rlaarlo 787 instead. Always liked my FTX cars. Got a SupaForza, DR8, Zorrow, Vantage and a Hooligan.
So, um, I ordered from ALI EXpress just based on your previous vidoes about the track mat and the Hoonigan RC cars. You said you had a bad experience with them in this video. Do I need to worry about my shipment not arriving?
If you're in the UK getting the Dumbo RC doesn't make sense. The Etronix EX6G is the exact same. Same specs, same everything. It probably works out wee bit dearer but you don't have to wait weeks for delivery. Which in my eyes, that a big plus straight away.
Settings in the receiver are the same as the radiolink gyro receiver settings 🤔 Its worth checking the grub screws etc and putting a dab of threadlock on them
Interesting. I bought an original (awesome lil HBX) Ravage after seeing your video and fitted an aftermarket gyro as per the manufacturers instructions (as my run area in very loose dirt/fine gravel). Did just the same as these FTX's. Had to fit the unit upside down. Worked spot-on then 😊 Enjoying the great content. Cheers !!!
I've litterally blocked his UA-cam channel... Hearing a rich dude calling everything "dirt cheap" gets under your skin really quickly I find ... Im sure he has his audience of loud obnoxious kids ... but its sure as hell not me.
good for a beginner, but no adjustments for suspension, every piece made from plastic.....don't get me wrong it has its place, everyone has to start somewhere. But after a certain point, I can see it's just for bashing. Not that long ago I bought a team associated tc6 roller used for 80$, added a Castle setup, and a CheapO servo, and dumbo rx/tx(not really good but good for the money, c'mon help me understand how to set endpoints....in English please)....all for less than a new Traxxas vxl 4tec I built something close to race ready (still lacking skills, but, I'm learning). But it's like the difference between a base level Traxxas bandit, and a 1/10 scale race buggy..... Looks like it, but just not quite there. This has its place, just not on my shelf.
@TomleyRC One of my favorite Kev moments was when he took a buggy to the local indoor track that I saw you race your Tamiya BBX at. He put it into the wall after hitting a jump FULL SEND. The poor marshal could've been seriously injured but I couldn't stop laughing 😂😂😂
i have a hopped up 144001 hooked up to a dumbo rc and i took it over to a park on an island and dropped the controller off of the side of my boat accidently (into the salt water) and it still works! Those controllers just won't die!
I love your digs at Kev, Phil. However, his recommendation on the DumboRC controllers/receivers is spot on. I have a fairly good collection of RC's and I run at least half of them on the Dumbo. All their respective stock controllers live in a large storage box. My question is, why didn't Kev know how to reverse the Gyro without you? Lol.
It doesn’t give the clickbait if he just fixes it. And there would be no follow up videos. KP likes to really drag things out rather than just give the info
Some people may remember the days in the hobby when RTR was a dirty word!! Granted the offerings back then were all brushed and entry level, to get youngsters into the hobby. Nowadays there's so much RTR to choose from, and kits are destined for the traditional hobbyist model builders who have the time to build them to their satisfaction. Also, gyros are good for beginners in RC, but you shouldn't rely on them and not improve your driving skills before upgrading to faster motors and more powerful ESC's.
Does anyone know if the vintage BMW 3 Series body shell is compatible with this chassis? I would like to buy one and if you have a link to buy post it please ...
9:00 warmer air = thinner air = less resistance = more speed. TOO much heat tho will = less power from the battery so you have to be careful (but you know all this)
The batteries can't release their stored electrons as fast in the cold. The more heat in the lithium polymer, the more exited the electrons get, and it will give them up faster. (See c rating) At a certain lower temperature, it won't give up it's electrons freely, it also won't accept electrons as readily. About 120 is ideal for peak performance.
@@ryurc3033 again, too much heat and they'll shut down, hence why EVs use energy to cool them in the summer. I know from working with Li-Ion power tools working construction, too hot and they shut down and won't take a charge. Same as too cold.

Great video. Kevin tends to give the rc hobby a bad rap as he breaks almost everything he touches. He reminds me of a spoiled 10 yr old with an unlimited bank account.
I am not a fan of KT, he does good videos and of course people love him.. For me I got over the appeal of watching someone treat RC cars terribly and then making a claim that the RC car must be poor because it doesn't survive a 40mph jump 40 feet in the air at a concrete skate park.. However he does have a point, the car should not be like that out of the box and as it is now with the gyro reversed it will be impossible to drive,. As a side note I kept hearing him slagging off the UK and his move to the Isle of Mann which is really just a tax avoidance exercise, if the UK is so bad he can go and go riddance, not interested in all that nonsense, just want to enjoy and learn a bit about this hobby we all love. Good to see you putting it all right in this video. 😁

Kevin and Tomely seem like brothers more than just friends😊
Ok, one question... what's with that rear wing? The angle on it makes it look like it's on backwards.
Anyway, it's an easy fix, but this is why I don't like integrated gyros. I'd rather either have a separate unit or no gyro at all.
Glad you guys worked it out... We all have differences, biggest thing is rule #1 for me in rc-ing. HAVE FUN!!!! Good job
My god some people are thick as bricks.
much fairer product test and opinion. Thanks ! They really are great fun for the money.
You want to have a look at the new dumborc DDF-350 transmitter. Amazing for the money and so many features its like a high end one.
Ah yes, that one episode, well, reading manuals should be normal thing for everyone.
I do read manuals if I need to.
Well.. I mean it wasn’t in the manual… but a quick search brings up plenty of fixes 👍
A good product don’t need a manual, a good product is intuitive
@@KevinTalbotTV I don’t think any RC electronics are intuitive enough to not need a manual. ESC’s usually have LED based menus & settings, there’s no way you’d know what to do or how to do it without a manual or video tutorial. Unless they start covering them with labelled buttons!
Did you add the sway bars?
That gyro seems way oversensitive!! Is there a sensitivity adjustment screw ??
Hello sir how are you. Where did you get that thumb piece for the control
I like Kev, but I hate how he destroys nearly everything. That gives RC a bad image.
He is a moron in my opinion.
I have to agree with you 😂
Someone in another video called him the Whistlin Diesel of the RC world 😅
I think ‘most’ adults can understand that RC Cars are not meant to take that abuse.. but the younger audience may not be as aware
@@TomleyRC agree with that everything has got a limit and easy ways to improve it user error sometimes can't be improved 🤣 including myself !
Kevin has a very nice channel and has cool stuff, but yours is different and that is why I like both 😀🤙
temloy rc which is better traxxas unlimited desert racer or traxxas sledge
Kev is my favorite RC influencer... he's very entertaining.. knowledgeable and he has a good heart, truly looking to help us!!
You and Kev are both great entertainment, and nobodys perfect.
he kinda did it how any normal customer likely would... only takes one crash with that crap and its all wasted money
With the gyro couldn't you just turn the receiver 180 degrees?
Had the same problem when when i got mine also that's why i made a little video on it on the gyro also but I'm sure on mine i had to press it twice 🤔 (HNR )
Yes.. I’m sure I had to press it twice on my other one. 🤷🏼♂️
I only own one rc car and it’s a brushed Traxxas slash wich I upgraded a bit but I found your video super informative and really nice to watch Kevin Talbot makes me angry by destroying “cheap stuff” for no reason
Don't be a Kevin😂 i would love to be a Kevin
Haha
They both are amazing
Btw waiting for that 10x10 truck😅
I've liked these since they first came out. I nearly got one a few months back but went for the Rlaarlo 787 instead. Always liked my FTX cars. Got a SupaForza, DR8, Zorrow, Vantage and a Hooligan.
So, um, I ordered from ALI EXpress just based on your previous vidoes about the track mat and the Hoonigan RC cars. You said you had a bad experience with them in this video. Do I need to worry about my shipment not arriving?
I’ve ordered hundreds of things and only had a couple of issues, so you should be okay.
@@TomleyRC thanks for the response and your videos. Keep at it!
If you're in the UK getting the Dumbo RC doesn't make sense. The Etronix EX6G is the exact same. Same specs, same everything. It probably works out wee bit dearer but you don't have to wait weeks for delivery. Which in my eyes, that a big plus straight away.
Settings in the receiver are the same as the radiolink gyro receiver settings 🤔
Its worth checking the grub screws etc and putting a dab of threadlock on them
Foam tires size and hex size???
12mm hex.
Was Kevin sent a model with the dud gyro
When are you going to do another video on this beast?
Where do I buy my DBAK T-shirt?
Maybe the speed difference was to do with the foam tyres not ballooning like the rubber ones🤔
No Rtr is perfect. This one in my opinion is great. On 3s wity the drift tires pulls extremely nice power slides as a great speed
Great video 🎉🎉 but for myself, i prefer a car out of the box that's ready to go, no confusion ❤
Please do a review on the new FTX Gladius. I love your reviews! Hope you see my comment!
hey tom, ive got a question is this FTX the same car or as good as the HNR hongnor h9802? please reply 😁
Interesting. I bought an original (awesome lil HBX) Ravage after seeing your video and fitted an aftermarket gyro as per the manufacturers instructions (as my run area in very loose dirt/fine gravel). Did just the same as these FTX's. Had to fit the unit upside down. Worked spot-on then 😊
Enjoying the great content. Cheers !!!
seems like you would need to replace the reviver tape or it would fall off
I did 👍
Do Dumbo RC do a lefty friendly controller? I'm one of those awkward people who is right handed but can only use the controllers left handed.
Did you notice a loss in downforce when the wing snapped off? 😜
Good vid.👊
Haha.. it was more stable in the air without it 😅
Dwift wheels ?
The sound that makes on the fly by speed Run sounds mental.
Great vid! Would be nice to have km/h as well when doing speed runs.
I love your videos. Did the company call you to save Kev lol
i have a hopped up 144001 hooked up to a dumbo rc and i took it over to a park on an island and dropped the controller off of the side of my boat accidently (into the salt water) and it still works!
Lol.
I agree… I use them on loads of my stuff. Not sure why he didn’t know, I’ve set them up on multiple rigs
It doesn’t give the clickbait if he just fixes it. And there would be no follow up videos. KP likes to really drag things out rather than just give the info
I've just got the new dumborc transmitter it's good can even turn the gyro on and off without messing about pressing the button on the receiver
You're 100% right. These are not junk. Kevin needs to stick to his monster trucks reviewing them. Street bashers are not Kevin's strong suit.
9:00 warmer air = thinner air = less resistance = more speed. TOO much heat tho will = less power from the battery so you have to be careful (but you know all this)
Warmer batteries perform much better. The speed run guys stick there’s in a heat box… even in the summer
The batteries can't release their stored electrons as fast in the cold.
The more heat in the lithium polymer, the more exited the electrons get, and it will give them up faster.
(See c rating)
At a certain lower temperature, it won't give up it's electrons freely, it also won't accept electrons as readily.
About 120 is ideal for peak performance.
@@ryurc3033 again, too much heat and they'll shut down, hence why EVs use energy to cool them in the summer. I know from working with Li-Ion power tools working construction, too hot and they shut down and won't take a charge. Same as too cold.
Best 1/10 of 2023...period. Do yourself a favor and get one ❤🤩
I agree 100.3%
@@TomleyRC wow that's WAY more than 100
@@disciplinerc imperial percentage is always higher 😅
that red is flipping gorgeous 😀👍if it wasnt for you guys on youtube i wouldn't know how to fix alot of my stuff 👍👍😀
I agree.. looks so nice in the sun
What location are you in that looks a fantastic runway for an edf jet…. Seeing as we have none basically in the uk 😢
Would love the red one are you running that in a comp?, might be my next purchase.
I thought you were going to say “don’t recommend a far right ‘newspaper’ (The Light) that is filled with hate speech and misinformation.”
I unsubbed from his channel after he did that.
He's a proper plonker.
No comment lol… although I don’t read any news paper, they are all filled with garbage.
@@TomleyRC agreed on that, most mainstream media is trash but that publication is a far right sh!tshow of epic proportions.
Call it far right or whatever you like, but everything they said is coming true… they warned about blood clots years ago from the you know what, and now look what’s happening… people health would have been better had they read it. I’m happy for you to call me right wing tin hat or whatever you like, as long as I have my health I don’t care
Great video. Kevin tends to give the rc hobby a bad rap as he breaks almost everything he touches. He reminds me of a spoiled 10 yr old with an unlimited bank account.
For my speed run cars i actually balance my tires / wheels. I would love to see how others balance their RC tires / wheels.
Yes, it makes a big difference
I've got both colours too. After your 1st review of it 😂, haven't used the grey one. The red is the abused one, hoping to get build.skme display shelfs in the front room soon get them out the garage, also got the kyosho skyline, not to use just for display as looks great from the outside as you know. But basic and brushed inside
That video where Kevin was driving his full sized car over these RC's was the exact moment I stopped watching him. So stupid to do that rather than fix it and he should know better. I'm probably a bit older than his average viewer and am not impressed! Thanks for clearing this up Phil. Top work 👍👍
I'm glad to be a Keith, not a Kevin.
Haha
