    This looks really fun! I love seeing the art on the Power Up and Encounter cards! I look forward to learning more about the dungeons and crypts and such!
    This was a Back from me from the moment I heard you were making it. I look forward to throwing money in your direction.

    With every new video put out about this volume, it makes me more and more interested in it, and I was planning to get it from the new campaign anyways after trying out volume one.
    The shorter videos covering the various aspects makes it seem a lot more complex than this video, where this video makes it all seem more streamlined, which I like and appreciate.

    Love watching these videos. It looks as if the game is already well advanced in preparation. Liking the keyword prompt and additional artwork on encounters and power ups. If there is no mechanic to eliminate the collectors, than this volume does seem to share the same sense of urgency as 2. Will be backing day 1.

    I'm looking forward to this, and if they'd be available getting more of the previous volumes during next campaign, I currently only own volume 1.

    Looking great! I love V1 and V2 of this series, but V3 really left me disappointed. Far too many layers and systems, too many things got in the way of my fun, and made it hard for me to get lost in the adventure. I'm really hoping for a more focused game with V4. Can't wait to see more! Thanks for the video.

      This was my reaction to SoS as well. I love the settings but thought it just got a little too busy to enjoy as much as I did VotDK and FoA. But they said that Vol3 was intended to be more sandbox in nature so I guess that makes sense. So very excited for DoMN as well.

      V3 is actually my favorite volume. I love starting out in the desert and then having a million different options of what to do and where to go. Every city is pretty much the same in VotDK, but every city in SoS is so unique and feels different. That's really what I love about this system though. By the time all the games are completed there should be a volume for any level of complexity. Want a more straightforward adventure with less choices but also less systems to manage, grab VotDK or DoMN. Want a sandbox adventure that has tons of choices and tons of systems, grab SoS off the shelf.

    If I want to play a class like a summoner that summons encounters from the open circumstance bar, how would I do that with these encounter decks?

    I've been enticed by HEXplore It before in each of its earlier versions--almost took the plunge with Sands (love skeletons, mummies, etc.), but this edition is finally going to hook me!

    From what I have seen so far, this looks to me like a version 2 of volume 2 with a re-theming and some clever new mechanics that doesn’t make the game more fiddly or complicated. I like the way the game reaches its endpoint and the way it mechanically influences your movement. To be honest I rather never move reckless in vol 2... I like how you need to definitely make an additional decision here on movement. The fact that the encounters now have their images on the cards is a huuuuuge plus for me, it kicks the imagination through the roof for me! I still have a hard time getting warm with my vol 3... as playing it solo only I somewhat know I will love it eventually, but I get stuck so often... (as a german guy, obviously not the best English speaker, it’s getting even harder) I still hope, that in the end I will love the freedom and variety vol 3 offers... to make a long story short, I absolutely do like what I see here! And I believe this could be the sweet spot in complexity for a lot of Board Game lovers, maybe hardcore RPG players will tend to like vol 3 better.

    Im playing this right now. Im not sure if there is only 1 big dungeon with all exits coming into play eventually or if Im meant to set up 4 smaller dungeons seperately for each crypt.

    Shame the crypts aren’t like the Black Pyramid you can explore each a different layout.
    Will there be a Campaign for Mirza included with the other 3 campaigns in a printed form during the Gamefounder?

    Few things...
    1:00:40 even wit a penalty, a 1 is still a crit success? I thought rolls were considered the number they were adjusted to by modifiers? Because I know camping gave you a stacking bonus to rolls so you could possibly turn that 3 into a 1 and such, but it doesn't go the other way as well?
    Also, I hope the complexity is toned down some from volume 3. I have yet to play volume 2 (though i hear it's the best, though not enough reviews on 3 yet), but I have played games of 1 and 3. Volume 1 took about 5 hours. Volume 3 took 10 hours over 2 days, both were with 2 champs. Though just by watching, it does look a little less complicated, so here is to hoping.

    • @DwarfyDoodad
      @DwarfyDoodad 3 роки тому +1

      The Natural 1 is just if you roll it. If you roll a 3 and you have modifiers to get it to 1, you don't get the Hex result bonus. You just succeed.

    • @lergof0202
      @lergof0202 3 роки тому +2

      @@DwarfyDoodad I don't think that's true. At least that's not true in the Sands of Shurax. There is a page in the rules that a die can be modified down to a critical success or up to a critical failure.

    What's the advantage of moving at night?
    Would've been good if there's some kind of benefit for moving at night, like gaining time at a cost of failing certain skills more (ex: move at night, +2 to explorer and survival checks, skip villain phase this turn).
    Plus, simply choosing to move day or night seems unthematic. If you moved during the day this turn and the last turn, shouldn't that mean you slept at night in between those turns?

    • @metal4k787
      @metal4k787 Рік тому

      The only benefit I can see is trying to add clues to circumstances that youre interested in chasing first. I did assume that if you wanted a night circumstance then you have to travel at night but there is nothing in the rulebook. I could be wrong but once a circumstance is revealed it is in play whatever time of day you move. On the plus side you have 8 circumstances in play at a time which is less than FoA, but in FoA you had to pile 4 cards on top of each other which meant a lot of faffing about checking them all plus the relic cards underneath them. The best scenario for me is that all releases follow the same layout which would make every new release so much easier to jump into and enjoy. The familiar deck is a great bonus though, which can be shuffled into any power up deck of previous releases.
