Thank you for the video, Raihana :) I'm glad you described the texture and taste of each major type of persimmon. I'm trying to figure out what to do with the ones I just bought lol. Very helpful! :)
I just got both varieties and I’m waiting till next spring to plant. Never had them but I’m hoping to find them in an Asian Market or something. This is probably the fruit I am most excited to try! Thank you for the video!
I was given a bag of persimmons and didn't k now how to use them. I wanted to bake with them but did't know how to prepare them or when they were ripe. Your video answered a lot of my questions. Thanks
Thank you so much for the tutorial, as I can now go purchase some persimmons, cut them correctly, and offer them during my Thanksgiving dinner! I also appreciate your honesty about wanting to eat the entire hachiya during your presentation! :-) Your obvious enjoyment of the fruit made my mouth water! One thing just as a recommendation since you are being watched on UA-cam... maybe pronounce the word 'persimmon' correctly...? Not a biggie, of course...and not hating on ya... just a thought that crossed my mind. :-) Keep up the excellent work you are doing!! I am a huge fan and appreciate you.
Astringent varieties need to ripen fully. To minimize mess, I freeze them, dip in hot water for 5 seconds, skin will just slip out. I put it on a dish with some green stuff like spinach of iceberg lettuce, whipped cream all around and top it with a cherry. The fruit slowly melts and can be scooped with a spoon like a sherbet. Frozen it can last for 6 months.
Just my luck, I see this after I take a gigantic bite of my 'acorn vs tomato' shaped grocery store persimmon :/ (vs my neighbor's tree w/the tomato shaped YUMMY)!!! LOL! Thanks for sharing, I know now... let the Hichaya version RIPEN... WHEW! :)
I just tried a fuyu persimmon for the first time and i'm in love with it. Definitely in my top 5 favorite fruits! :D
Today is my first time trying the Hachiya and I have to say is amazing like you said.
Thank you so much for the demonstration.
