BRAVO!!! I have many years experience as a car audio installer and now I work as a professional auto diagnostics technician. I have always understood the importance of the moisture barriers and it always bothered me to see these hack installers demolish the interior of a door panel. They don't care because it isn't their car and what's not seen is usually not known until the problem presents itself long after the butchery took place. I still give credit to those who attempt any repairs or restoration of the weather barriers. Most cases of shoddy repairs is not due to a shoddy attempt, but a lack of proper materials to do it right. Your name is on the door repair kit - I will be ordering a few of those in the near future. Consider me a new subscriber! I love the fact that you care about what you do. Thanks for sharing!
Very good video, easy to follow! Should every car have this kind of water barrier? My Dacia Sandero Stepway -17 doesnt have it (the panels and their backings are made of plastic though). I noticed there being some moisture and slight rust in some spots inside the door, in the space between the outside metal and the inside metal. There are 2 small drainage holes in the bottom. Is there anything I could do to improve the situation?
Steve Great video. You made a comment about what you were going to do to the inner door before you put on the new liner. Just curious what that might have been.
Hi Steve. Before will replace the vapour barriers we usually put sound deadener on the outer skin to stop vibration 👍 ua-cam.com/video/GHK3pRIo2pc/v-deo.html
I have a Kia Rio. I had some soundproofing done before by a shop. They didn't do it well , leave it with a lot of small cracks and holes. I want to redo it myself. Not sure how big they are, I guess just those typical car door holes
Oh no. Are you talking about the butyl (sound deadening mats). Yes, the material has enough structural integrity that it will seal up holes and act as a blanket.
i used butyl sound deadner and some hvac tape on the edges to give myself peace of mind. Make sure to clean the surface and use a roller to roll the sound deadner on. I personally use a heat gun to warm it up a bit before applying
@@carbuilders1 does it have to be completely water tight? Why couldn’t it just be a curtain? Ie. Just securing the plastic in corners, preventing water from touching the door panel.
Hi Amory S. You can find them on our website carbuilders.com.au If you aren't in Australia, you may not be able to check out online so please email us (your address details) at sales@carbuilders.com.au and we will shoot you through a quote including shipping and payment details 😎👍
Hi ar k. When we do installs we template the old consendation barriers to replicate. This video probably shows it better ua-cam.com/video/5rYoH8gN-lM/v-deo.html

Thank you for you feedback! We will check out your channel. 😎👍
I've always just left these barriers in the bin, but I also do the same with door cards, carpet, and passenger seats. ;)

Very good job
Thank you so much 😀
great!! may I know the type of plastic you used? any link to it would be helpful too:)
Thank you for the positive feedback. I have gone back to video and attached the link. www.carbuilders.com.au/door-restore-kit 👍
@@carbuilders1 thank you so much. the link is already there, just that I didnt notice the plastic cover is in the same package 😅
See my question is does it have to be plastic that you replace it with, some other type of water resistant material like closed cell foam
That's not a knife. THIS! IS A KNIFE!!!
😆
What is the name of sticking material ? Please
Butyl tape
This is great 👍 thank you
Can you/should you do a moisture barrier over top a sound deadening barrier?
If there's holes somewhere it still could seem necessary
So every car has water flowing in doors while it rains ? Should i be concerned about rust on my classic car or its fine
If you need to peel back the film after 5 or 10 years of the mastic sealant being in place, will it allow that?
Yes you can, it just looks like peeling off chewing gum.
If the mastic sealant/glue used in my car had run and dripped down, due to heat, is that a sign it's not factory installed??
not necessarily i think. mine had run a little bit
Make sure to not scratch paint with razor blade or it will rust anyway
Yes, important.
I was thinking that too. If you use the painted steel door as a cutting mat, you'll really mar the surface
what if you need a hole for the speaker basket/magnet to fit?
Hi Pete. Check out this video ua-cam.com/video/GHK3pRIo2pc/v-deo.html
Can we get the film in a clear variety??
Steve

Can I cover the holes with dampening material?
Hi Huy. Yes, you can to a certain extent. How wide is the hole you are trying to cover?

What do you do if there is a speaker in the door ?
cut hole in it for speaker
How can I get one of those? I want pay

Anyone else here for their VW Breadvan?
Can you tell what type of sealant tape do you use?
Hi there. We use manufacturer butyl rubber in our kits.
So.. did he just removed the space provision for the speakers completely by blocking it out!?
