      @@michaelpupin Hi Michael! Thank you so much and I'm really glad that you like the test videos! If I understand your question correctly, I think the answer should be yes! I've used the Fresh and Black from Decathlon and I have the review on this channel. But the 2 Seconds Tent I reviewed is definitely not going to be suitable for you cos it's pretty small (only 2P and 3P sizes). Hmm I don't think I've reviewed tents as big as what you're describing, with 2 or 3 sleeping rooms. I think that's easily a 12P tent and up. I think Coleman and Ozark Trail have those types of tents, but I wouldn't count on them being top of the line kind of quality. You can check those out though! 😊

    I recently upgraded from a Coleman Sundome 4P to 6P tent. The 4P was still fine after many years of camping but the 6P has a bit more space for a solo camper. It may not be the best but works for me when it comes to space for 1 person, ease of setup, small size when packed, good weather/wind protection and hard to beat for under $100.
    Amazing review as always and must have taken lot of time and work, including the editing. Your previous review of the Sundome tent made me decide to get another Sundome. Thank you!

      I decided to go with the REI Base Camp. Guess what?! They've discontinued it! I've looked everywhere. I called the main headquarters and nobody could tell me why. I found one on Marketplace - but I'd second in line. Someone accidentally got two and is selling the second one - a six-person, never opened - for $250. I can't imagine the other person wouldn't take it. :-( Thanks for asking

    Hey Liz, great vid! I just finished watching your 10 best double wide vid as well.
    Have you considered doing a single person sleeping pad video series like you did with your double?
    I suspect ExPed would take first of course, but I'm very interested in the XL of the single pads.
    Here's a list of very portable 30" wide single person options that I'd love for you to review if you want to/have the time to.
    Klymit Insulated Static V Luxe - You already did the double, but I'm concerned that the single may be a tad flimsy being not as wide.
    Haven Insulated Pad XL
    Big Agnes Insulated Q-Core Deluxe XL
    Big Agnes Boundary Deluxe Insulated XL

    Another well done and informative video. The rain test reminded me of the hydrostatic head (HH) ratings published by some brands of their tents. That rating means it takes certain pressure to "force" water through the material. This may not be very relevant for the canopy or fly, unless there is a very strong wind that acts as a force on the water. However, I think this rating has practical implication for the floor. For example, the floor of the Gazelle T4 Plus has an insane 5000 mm rating. In a YT video in which the camper was caught in heavy rain fall and the camp site was flooded, he was walking (i.e. asserting force on the water) in the Gazelle tent and there was no leakage through the floor material. The floor of the Wawona 6 has a 1500 mm rating, which is not bad. I wonder if it would or would not leak had you walked inside it when your yard was flooded.

    • @CampingGuidance
      @CampingGuidance  Рік тому +1

      @Chomp Thank you so much as always! Really appreciate your constant support and comments on my videos, they mean a lot 😊 Oh wow I never knew about the practical implications about the flooring! I just thought that the higher the HH ratings, the longer the tents would be able to stay dry under constant pouring rain. So, I thought that the Wawona would have stayed dry for longer with a higher HH rating. I'm probably wrong about that then, am I? But thank you so much for letting me know! Your insights are so thoughtful 😊 The 1,500mm is definitely a lot lower than 5,000mm, but sadly I don't think I walked around it much while it was flooded! There was still water underneath when I checked in on the tent after, but exactly how much water was underneath I didn't take note! (Sadly.) It didn't leak though so it probably wasn't too much. But next time I'll definitely take note! 😊

    This is gonna be one of the best review videos I’ve ever seen.
    Quick question for you. I’ve really been thinking about getting the north face, Wawona tent, but a lot of people say that the all mash door and the large gap to the ground for the vestibule make it very cold/drafty. Do you agree with this? Or do you think it’s not that big of a problem?

    • @CampingGuidance
      @CampingGuidance  7 місяців тому

      Hey Colin! Thank you! I'm really glad you liked the review 🥰 Ah yeah the mesh door is great for me cos it's only ever summer where I am. But if you're going to be camping in colder weather I don't think it would be for you. The mesh can't be covered up at all, and no matter what I did, the vestibule doesn't extend all the way down to the ground, and there'll still be gaps at the bottom. I've never camped in colder weather, but that's just my suspicion.

      Being in Canada, it can get below zero Celsius most of the year.
      It’s too bad the door doesn’t zip all the way up and that the vestibule walls don’t come closer to the ground. I’m sure this tent works well for people here, but with my young kids, I could see it being a potential issue. Thank you again for your reply!

    Not sure if this is possible but it would be great for Canadian campers to see some decent reviews of products from MEC which is kind of the REI of Canada. In particular they have a Cabin 2.0 Tent which when you add the vestibule is very similar to the Wawona 6. However the Mec vestibule has a mesh layer as well as skirt at the bottom and the front panel can be set up as a canopy. The tent can also be set up with full fly without the vestibule. Water proof rating is 2000 for fly and 5000 for floor. Unfortunately ther are no really decent reviews ( by that I mean the calibre of yours) to be found .They are not cheap so a good review would be very useful to us here in Canada. Their Base Camper tent is also pretty good looking as well and is also not cheap but less than the Cabin 2.0. Thanks and keep up the great reviews.

      Hi Patrick! Thank you so much for your comment and the suggestion! 😊 I checked out the MEC Cabin 2.0 - it looks great! I love how it's possible to set it up without the vestibule, but that also means a little bit of added costs. I'm so sorry though I'm still a pretty small channel and I don't have a lot of funds coming in, so I don't think I'll be able to branch out to Canadian products yet. To be most 6per tents. And I want peak height 68-70” . Idea is tent tall enough I can stand I. 68” tall, but not too tall
    Or big. Again my dream Tent would be 9x8 with a peak of 68” max 2-3poles easy setup and done. Thoughts? Recommendation?

    • @CampingGuidance
      @CampingGuidance  7 місяців тому

      Hey Jesse! Oh wow that's a difficult question! Hmm a 2 to 3 pole tent is usually a more simple dome tent. My Coleman ones aren't the best in rain, so you may want to go with a dome tent with another better brand like Kelty or Alps Mountaineering. The Kelty Wireless looks good (I haven't tested it out yet but I've heard many good things.) The problem is that with your max floor space of 9x8, you're mostly limited to a 4P tent, which typically doesn't have a tall enough peak height to hit 68". I think you may need to compromise a little there to find something that best suits you. What are your thoughts?

    Fantastic video. I always wonder whether it would be possible with these tall tents, especially those with that umbrella poles, to somehow throw the rainfly over before erecting it. Sounds easier, but might be more struggle in practice. Myself, I love tunnel tents.
    What drives me nuts a little is that most carrybags are...tightly dimensioned. I find it always difficult to store a tent away. If possible, I opted to spread out the components. Which can be risky, because if you forget e.g. the rainfly or tent stakes (first is catastrophic, you can perhaps purchase spare stakes in a pinch) at home, your camping trip might be over.

    • @CampingGuidance

    Absolutely Awesome Product Review of the various 6 person tents. The Caddis tent looks great but how much different is it to the Coleman 6 person Camping tent with Instant Setup?

      Hey there AJ! Thank you so much! I'm really glad that you're liking my reviews, thank you so much for always commenting on my videos too, it means a lot 😊 Hmm I had the Coleman Instant 4 and the Instant 10, and I definitely think the Caddis Rapid is MUCH higher quality. Tbh I'm not a big fan of Coleman's instant tech. It seems more cheaply manufactured compared to the other instant tents that I have, and flimsier too. I'm planning on publishing a Best Instant Tents video going into more details about this in a few months! 😊

      @@CampingGuidance I thank you for your input always. One of the issues with the tents is the colors are too bright to use in a military environment. There is a tent that I am looking at is the Coleman Skydome Camping Tent with Full Vestibule 6 person. Have you had a chance to check out this item?

    • @CampingGuidance
      @CampingGuidance  Рік тому +1

      @@ajmartinez1906 You're most welcome AJ! And thank you so much for the reply! I'm really glad that I could give you some input 😊 Ah I see, yeah a lot of the tents that I reviewed here are super bright - many of them are orange and yellow! I've seen that item online but I don't have plans to get it for now. I did review the Skydome last year, and I think the full vestibule really addresses the biggest issue I had with the normal Skydome, which is the rainfly being too short over the front door. If you're expecting lots of rain though you'd still have to do all the normal seam sealing yourself, Coleman tents aren't that great in rain.

    • @ajmartinez1906
      @ajmartinez1906 Рік тому

    Very good review. I was impressed at your thoroughness and attention to each parameter you tested.
    What i saw, what you reported , i agreed totally with your number 1 pick. That would have been my pick as well.
    The amount of mesh was amazing. Here in Texas, in the summer, it gets about 10 degrees cooler than the face of the sun. So any and all ventilation is a big plus.

    After watching your other video and this one, plus doing some of our own research, we bought the Wawona 6. I'm going to be using it in a couple weeks when camping in New Hampshire with my boys and can't wait to use it. We're replacing a huge 10 person Coleman cabin tent that we've used for over 7 years, which last couple camping trips had started to have some leaking and broken poles. Not only am I excited about more usability with the Wawona, but also better weather protection, although I will say for a cabin tent our Coleman did do well when tied down with strong winds.

I think I saw a few Wawonas coming in through my affiliate links, so your support really means a lot to me, and I appreciate it loads! 🥰 I'm really glad that I could help you decide on it. It's definitely gonna be much better than your Coleman tent! (I had the same one as you too but I returned it cos mine was so badddd.) Just do remember to buy/bring extra guylines to guy out the entire thing so it'll do better in strong winds. I hope that your family really enjoys camping in this! Let me know how it goes if you have the time! 😊
