My brother reached out to me and said the family go kart had been sitting not running for three years. This looks to be a great gy6 buggy project to bring back. Big enough for adults with a GY6 150cc motor sporting forward, reverse, shocks all around and a torque controlled belt drive system. There's some potential for a really fun off road kart from this old time machine.
Follow along and learn with me as I try some new things to make this thing perform and stand out.

I have a American sport works quantum 150cc. Would you know where I could purchase a new gearbox?

I'd try sites like Rolling Wrench, BMI Karts, Buggy Masters... Lots of options for the gy6 really depending on what you want to spend. Good luck getting rockin again!

@@VermontLife great thank you! I was looking for a heavy duty one that wouldn't break again. Then also some upgrades. Better carb maybe. Bigger tires.

@jimmything1000 bigger tires you’ll likely want to gear down. Mine is 530 chain which is tough to find gears for with a 25mm inner diameter on 6 tooth splines. I have been running 20” now and went down a few teeth on the drive sprocket to get the torque back. Still needs some playing with to get the right balance of torque and top end. This motor is stock as well.

Ah yes, that one is a knock off. I have another build series to get back to with an oem cylinder ported by swope racing to go on a 3mil stroker with a rechambered head from a fella in the greater Blaster community. It's going to be great but first... It's go cart time! (Go carts are just tons of fun :))
