Good riding, lot of my old regular stuff. Been off the bike for four months with injury and finally getting back to watching some riding for motivation!
I’m surprised how little snow you see! Two of us decided to give the NYM a try on Wednesday, and found the snow had made most routes impassable (in the ingleby/battersby areas at least), up to axles at times. We were planning to head over to Great Hograh Moor from Bank Foot (Ingleby Greenhow) but soon became obvious that wasn’t going to be possible so we stuck to the main tracks. We could maintain momentum on a few sections of the Cleveland Way on Ingleby Moor but every other bridleway we tried wasn’t rideable. We managed just 8 miles in almost 2 hours, with lots of pushing. 4WD vehicles have created some wheel ruts with a compacted surface but lots of pedal strikes from the solid 'ice walls' either side of the ruts. In the few sections without snow (eg. the track up through Battersby Plantation from Ingleby Greenhow) there were large sections of sheet ice
Not sure how to share it but I have a route for an epic (27mi) ride which starts at lordstones and ends up on your clay bank to lordstones section on the way back. Brilliant mix of singletrack, DH, technical sections and gravel tracks (for a rest 😂) I tried posting Strava link here but it seems to have been deleted or intercepted
Flipping heck, you were going pretty fast on some of those icy downhill sections, I was getting nervous for you! (Maybe because I've got a broken finger and another dislocation at the moment!!) I'll be back out on the trails next week, hopefully with the new drone.....
@@bobthebimbler ahhhhh nightmare Bob… I was wondering why I hadn’t seen any of your vids lately. Hope you are ok mate. I’m looking forward to seeing you back out there. 👊🏻.

@@Dugsoft hello mate 👊🏻. I’ve just accepted and followed back👍. Still do the ride. See if you can add a bit on or adjust it. Or follow mine but just turn back when you get to the abandoned buildings.
Pity you got a bit lost, but that's all part of it. We have done that in all weather's and its a great run along there I always switch the camera on at that puddle, it's caught loads out 😂😂
@@belly_3177 it was really good, I really enjoyed it. So disappointed with my komoot map skills though. I bet someone could stick a loop on the end (someone go know what they’re doing) 😂😂
@@gregrogers1112 hello mate, it’s Robert smith (emtb North Yorkshire dad) the link is in my about section on my Chanel. I will just add it the video description on this video too. 👍
I might have missed it but is this the Cleveland Way? Just looking at Google Maps while watching this. Also, I know it’s frozen gravel but it looks like sheet ice?!! Hope you’re not too bruised, slo-mo crashes are the worst. 🤕
@@Wingnut65 hello mate. The section from Clay bank car park to lord stones car park is parallel to the Cleveland way. The Cleveland way in the section runs over the tops of the hills and this was the low road so to speak. Ha, I was luck and landed in the only soft part of the whole ride 😂😂.
Looked like you got waylaid dropping into Skugdale. It’s hard to find a non bog fest way down without using the Cleveland way. I prefer to carry on at the same elevation as Claybank to Lordstones along the front of the hills. You can then drop into Swainby past the castle to the Rusty Bike for a refuel before heading back.
