- Sky News host Chris Kenny slams the Victorian government for trialling electric fire trucks.
“The state of Victoria always at the leading edge of wokeness - they have been trialling electric police vehicles; now they are trialling out electric fire trucks,” Mr Kenny said.
“This, to me, is horrendous ... what if a fire truck is stuck in the station because it is not recharged to go out and put out a fire.”
Fire trucks have to run all day, flat out. No time for 8 hrs of charging. Who the f*** is responsible for this moronic decision?
Some climate scam fear monger who's invested in the company selling the shit as always
Well nowdays they can charge using three phase 400v power. It's getting a lot quicker but not there yet.
@@tomtom1541 first they have to find somewhere with 3 phase. fire trucks do run all day, they are not turned off at a fire scene. electric fire trucks is just a flat out stupid idea. i am a fireman.
A complete waste of taxpayer money
Bet you would not be saying that if your house was on fire.
@@CatsandJP even more so you idiot it can't keep the pumps going for longer then 1hr so yeah was a fuking waste of money you tool
There must be something in the water in Victoria, that makes people stupid.
I live in Melbourne and I agree with you, the idiots that keep voting the labour and greens have zero brain cells.
The politicians and those voting for labour, greens and teals are drinking it. It has a diesel backup but they don’t want electricity base load back up!
Not the water. The school indoctrination and Local Commune, sorry Community. I live here, they are all balmy nutters. Originally from out of state.
Only lab and it's Nimrod voters....
As a life long Victorian it has to be something like that!
Taking a lithium battery into the midst of a fire?
Did you miss the school bus today……What do you think their phones and satellite phones are powered by…..you do know they have safety protocols..they are the “fire” brigade after all…
Yep, only in the Socialist Soviet Republic of Victoria.
@@CatsandJP You might be unaware, but a lithium battery in a truck is a heck of a lot bigger than the lithium battery in a phone.
@CatsandJP yes lucky for them they can put the fire out when the truck blows up?...
@@CatsandJP goose
We’ll see how long it lasts in the heat of the heat! They’ll spend all their efforts trying to put it out, which you can’t do! What a joke. A very expensive joke played on the taxpayers of a state that is already broke.
Look an electric fire truck!
Fire: “hold my beer” 😳
More woke crap but the jokes on us because we are paying for this crap
Victoria is the unparalleled basket case in every which way possible 😂😂😂😂😂
There is a diesel engine in the vehicle.
Because it's not a thing you can rely on fully without it.
@@vivrowe2763Wrong it has a Diesel Electric transmission..refer to Mercedes Benz.
Victoria.. proof that Tasmanians can swim. ;)
This makes me think of the images of electric cars with a portable generator mounted at the trailer hitch
Its not FULLY ELECTRIC, it has a 225kw Diesel engine as back up. So technically it is still diesel.
Technically…….Electric/Diesel Transmission.
@@CatsandJP It sounds like you have not the slightest clue as to what a diesel-electric transmission actually is. It is used in ships, trains and heavy vehicles which use a diesel engine (or gas turbine or even nuclear in some ships) to supply the power but instead of having a traditional gearbox the final drive is an electric motor. The advantage is you save loads of weight and space by not having a giant mechanical gearbox and the electric motor provides all of its torque all the time no matter how fast or slow it's running, no batteries required!
Or is it a diesel truck with an electric booster?
@@mistersmacky If it is operated (energy supplied) by diesel, weather it generates electricity to drive motors, it is a diesel truck. Correct term diesel/electric
Just like EV's aren't diesel when the electric charging stations are. 😉
Vic Labor tackling the big issues.
Just when you thought they couldn’t get any dumber…., they go and do something like this and totally redeem themselves 😂😂😂
H.Dunne (dumb and dumber)
Obviously you’ve never heard of a Diesel Electric transmission.
@@CatsandJP What's the point when Diesel drivetrains are very well developed and reliable.
Why reinvent the wheel and it isn't technically what they're trying to say it is.
@CatsandJP why not spend that money on health or ambos where it needed oh that's right this is lab incompetent with the biggest state debt in the country...
@@CatsandJPour Submarines are diesel/electric
The Victorian electric fire truck is a big fat lie. It has a 225KW diesel motor. ▪ Chassis:
› Type: Rosenbauer RT 4x4 Advanced
› Independent suspension
› Suspension: pneumatic
› Chassis with selectable driving levels
(ground clearance: 175-250-350-470 mm)
for comfortable entry and ergonomic removal vs.
outstanding off-road capability
› Wheelbase: 4,100 mm
› Rear axle steering switchable
(turning circle wall-to-wall approx. 13.5 m)
▪ Drive system:
› BEV - battery electric vehicle
› Advanced Driveline
High-voltage battery (2x 66 kWh, 650 V)
E-motor: 2x 180 kW (peak), 2x 130kW (cont.)
Energy backup system: Diesel engine (225 kW)
No mention of the extra cost of the fire truck nor the weight. The writing is on the wall for EV's so the Victorian government is showing head in the sand attitude that indebted the state again.
It is not electric you know ? It has a 300hp diesel engine !!
I have given up watching 7 news due to so much sport coverage during the first 30 mins. They do have a 20 min sport segment at the end.
They have a long extension lead
Normally fires drop the power lines
For all the jokes, EV fire trucks make a lot of sense. First of all, fire trucks spend a lot of time parked waiting for a call-out - so plenty of opportunity to charge. 2nd, they only need to travel a short distance. 3rd, the torque of an electric drivetrain is perfect for quick acceleration of heavy loads. 4th, once on scene powering pumps & working floodlights is more efficiently done using a battery & inverter power supply. 5th, there is a back-up generator which can be deployed if need to spend a long time on scene or have back to back jobs.
At locations like airports EV fire trucks are even more suitable.
Electric trucks = abysmal failure. Fontara the Dairy giant trialled four ET's made a big thing of it. Had a range of 340-360ks, when fully loaded range dropped to 280-320. Total failure, they quietly dropped them and nothing more was said. Imagine a Fire truck fully laden with crew what sort of Ks it would get on a return trip. Then have to spend hours recharging. The rest of the world are leaving EV's behind and going back to petrol or hybrids. All except for Victoria.
plus they forget or more likely don't realise fire trucks are not turned off at a scene, so they will be sitting idling chewing that battery up.
Part of the reason why despite repeated maildrops flyers I refuse to have anything to do with the local Communist Fire Authority.
The whole astrology thing has been on msm for years....havent you been watching ?
I think the fire fighters have more knowledge that a two year old IQ Sky news reporter!
Yes, but not in Victoria.
Hybrid is best of both worlds
Really. Battery weight means less water carried.
🤤
An ELECTRIC FIRE TRUCK????. THE TRIAL with Battery Powered cement deliverybtrucks where 3 BURNT TO THE GROUND MEANS AS THE FIRE TRUCK GETSVTO THE FIRE IT WILL SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST AND THE FIREFIGHTERS CANNOT PUT OUT THE TRUCK FIRE. CRAZY PEOPLE IN CHARGE HERE AND THERE TOO.
Labor insanity has no end.
