“Downright Insult!” Home Office Conceals Costs Of Asylum Seeker Flats ‘For Their Mental Health’

- The Home Office has rejected a freedom of information request into the costs of leather sofas and flat-screen TVs for asylum seeker flats in Farnborough on the grounds that revealing the details might affect their “mental health” and put their “health and safety at risk”.
The denial was appealed and the case went all the way to the top - to the Information Commissioner John Edwards, who ruled that it was correct to prioritise the mental health and health and safety of asylum seekers over the public’s right to know how the government is spending taxpayers’ money.

This might not surprise you, but an interpreter told me 6 years ago, that every single illegal, tells him that if they agreed to come, they will get a free house each. I'm a pensioner and my mental health is in such decline because I'm going to lose my yearly winter fuel allowance because the money is being used to house and feed illegal migrants. I worked all my working age life and had to retire on government pensions to see that the government is taking more care of the illegals than myself is having a serious side effect.

I lost everything when I got divorced and had to start all over again with my 10 year old daughter. I eventually got a council flat and was given just £150 to decorate it. I had to furnish it, buy a cooker, fridge , tv, sofa, beds and carpets which put me in a huge amount of debt. Why can’t I get what asylum seekers and illegal immigrants get.

I got 10 minutes with Mental Health person she didn’t even read my notes blamed everything on medication even though I had same symptoms for years. My blood pressure went up to 228/100 all she said is I could have a stroke that was it

Well I’ve news for the government, the influx and accomodation of freeloaders is affecting my metal health and I’m not on my own.
Not so long ago I could afford to pay my bills and have a bit left now I can't pay half my bills and I am losing my home my metal health is bad and pay tax so someone can have a free life don't help

I feel I need to know what is going on rather than put my head in the sand, but my husband says it only upsets me so I would be better not watching these videos. I think he has a point. I am thinking of writing to Starmer, although I doubt he would ever read it, his aids would just bin it, but maybe I need to at least try.
@@mythoughts7755 If you ignore it can you live knowing what you know? If you go down the route of ignoring what you feel and know it may compound your problem but it may bring relief. I know a couple who don’t exactly live off grid but their house and garden is their life. They shut out the outside as much as possible, they never watch the news and now hardly ever go anywhere, they do however watch the BBC as they are very traditional. My sister is similar to them in her approach to life and so is my wife, although they do go out. I don’t watch mainstream TV as I see the “message” in all they do. I do however have two ex-colegues who are on the same page as me. Personally I can’t ignore it but I understand those that do. I’m building as case, why? I feel I’m doing something, it may never be used but if the time arrises I’m ready. If it helps write to Starmer or at least to your MP, I feel they will ignore it but a constant drip drip drip will contribute to applying pressure how ever small. @Jacqueline-p2v it's a very tricky question to answer because it will surprise you .......most squaddies living on the streets do it through choice ....a lot of them started as junior soldiers and for years and years the Army fed them , watered them , clothed them and put a roof over theor head , pretty much free of charge , and when they leave they find it very hard to live what most wouod call a normal life .....living on the streets takes away the burden , stress and pressure of getting by like most people .......I know it sounds wacky but it is true .....for a lot of squaddies living on the streets , being responsible for themselves is easier than trying to get job, pay bills and get by

What about our mental health
The flat above me in South East England now has African tenants. The City has a huge amount of Black immigrants within one year and it's starting to turn into a version of London. The tenants don't work at all - here everyday - the rent is £1,150 so how are they paying it?? The landlord of the flat takes tenants who can pay their rent upfront for six months or a year. How are these migrants doing this? They have more money than the average UK citizen!!

Same in my village, house came up for rent in front of me, £1200 per month, Africans moved in, 3 kids with them. Fella don't work, the woman is a carerworker. Who pays for this?
