Tires and brakes had a step function improvement in the 80s and 90s and just really changed motorcycling. I still recall a particular ride home in light rain after a tire change in the late 80s on a beloved 1970 /5. It was like a revelation. (Still had drums though). It’s much of why doing “the ton” was so incredible in the age of the Ace. That bathtub is really a rare level of perfection beauty, but for it to be a rider, if that’s the goal, I think resto moded modern brakes and modern tires - with appropriate aesthetic attention - would be highly desirable. Unless it is a museum piece etc etc. They just don’t stop from high speed in any acceptable way imo and I know many have strong opinions otherwise. They’re ok at 25-35 mph. Just.
I suspect that bike is running very rich, but no black smoke and I assume the plugs look good, just odd its not at least a little cold blooded in those cold temps. Sure is pretty to look at!
Great bike. Seems like it's got a worn out centerstand that comes too far forward. I had a bike like that. it was a real pain to get off the centerstand. A motorcycle tour of Cuba sounds cool. Will it be on 1950's Harley's... or do they get new motorcycle on the island? Seems like a lot of the cars are vintage cars they've kept going because they had.
Can't believe you rode that bike with a front brake cable like that, and you wonder why the brakes are crap? My 3ta has good brakes, machined linings and thick sturdy cable cable!!
Well, let's see. Firstly the brakes are not "crap." Secondly, the owner rode it in here like it is. Thirdly, we call these "Test Rides" so we can evaluate the whole motorcycle. Fourhtly, we made a firm commitment in the video to advise the owner that we feel the brakes need attention. Fifthly, please try to be a bit nicer when you comment. Sixthly, welcome to the channel.
I lived on the Navel Base in Cuba from '65-'67. Absolutely loved it

You guys do some good work 👏, getting a bike off the centre stand ain't one of them 😅.
So true! I do love chasing a bike across a cement floor!

Bikes are BMW 750 and 850 dual purpose bikes. Said to be in good condition, but possibly not up to privately owned standards. We'll see.
