I have the SRT... and am happy with it because it's the closest thing to a club set-up which is what I'm used to at the clubs. At home and for some special gigs I use 1200s, so I'm covered having fun with both types of platters. No Rev 7 for me. 😉🍺
I have the Rev7, The Rane One and the Pioneer SX2. The Rev7, no doubt... Blows away the other two! The Rane One, definitely great for scratching, but the Rev7 is too, plus with all the added features! The sound quality is also phenomenal on the Rev7! I say it's better than the Rane One. The price, around 2K for the Rev7? In my opinion, it is absolutely worth it, for all that one gets with this! The mixer alone on this, with the Magvel Pro fader? Yeah, so much fun to be had from the very first moment of touching this controller!
Great review! Got my REV7 today, after a three-month wait. Far and away, it's the best looking controller I've ever owned. I have an S9 and me and my DJ crew have been using it regularly since 2018, so when I saw the announcement in January for this one, I knew I had to cop one. The hardware effects, as well as other features on the S9, are on point, so great to get features from it, the S11 and the S7, all on a controller with the S-series layout, and then some. And 22 hardware effects blows my mind. Now I need to learn how to scratch, and glad I'll be doing it on the REV7. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this piece of kit!
How you getting on with scratching? I actually much prefer the look of this than the upcoming Rane 4. The two big downsides to this controller is the large separate power brick and the inaccessibility of the fader if you want to replace it.
Something else to point out about Rane One vs Rev7. If you're coming from turntables you're gonna like the Rev 7 better. Reason being is the Rev7 mixer is the same with as an S9 or S7, in turn it will feel more like turntables. The Rane One on the other hand, the platters are a lot closer to each other and in turn will feel more like a controller and not turntables.
I love my Rane One. And I likely would have loved the Rev7. It was more so the wait time that drove me to go Rane One. They made the Rev7 so hard to get and so long to wait for. I would have definitely paid the extra 300 for the on board fx alone. But I do like how the Rane One looks overall, symmetry issues aside lol. I enjoy learning how to use the spindle and I like that I have the option to replace my platters or even eventually get the attachment to play real vinyl. I kind of hope Rane responds with like a Rane Two and they include on board fx. Either way. Having the Rane One has definitely boosted my confidence as a DJ and has given me a much clearer path to practicing my technical skills as a dj. One thing is for sure. I dont think I could ever personally purchase anything without motorized platters ever again. I used to dream of owning CDJs but now I could literally care less. In the future when my Rane One does eventually get old or I just have the money for an upgrade, I will almost definitely opt for a full turntable set up. But I could still see myself using the Rane One or something similar for mobile gigs. But Rane if you are listening. Make a Rane Two. Make it 4 channel and add on board fx. And I will trade my One in a heartbeat. If Rane drops the ball here, I might find myself trading for a rev7...js...
I also have the Rane 1, and absolutely love it. I'm coming from a ddj sx and what a step up. The only thing I'm jealous of the Rev 7 is that on board efx, that duck down is fire for sure. The Rane 1 reminds me of playing on turntables back in the days and subjectively I think the Rane 1 looks way better than the Rev 7.
I bought this instantly after you said they were gonna launch it!!! Lol... I drove the Sweetwater Rep crazy before launch cuz I'm like wait...Nick said there might be a Rev 10 order that if there is!!! You were right about the Rev7
Hey, just wanted to say that I thought it was going to be a fanboy kinda video with Rane1 bashing, but you actually did a great job at objectively making comparisons.
It's great to look at your video again, I always value your opinion plus you make it fun to watch, after looking at this clip I will get me one of these Rev7. Thanks for doing this video, blessings always.
great review! ive had my rev7 for a couple of months now and I love it too. Upgraded from a 1000SRT and was worried i would miss the channels and the layout. But its a completely different experience.....
Can you tell me if the MIC input has it’s own dedicated effects? I have the Pioneer DDJ 1000SRT and i have to switch the effects knob to each channel when i use the built in effects. I can only use the built in effects one channel at a time including the mic.
As an owner of a Rane1, I’ve been thoroughly heartbroken from the get go. Firstly waited a year for my rane1. Rane actually replied to my messages on IG. FFWD 6 months in, playing at a gig, left channel fader goes dead. Took it back to the company I bought it from, they started quoting figures although it’s under warranty. Messaged Rane, no response, now I know 3 other DJs wait a broken fader (left). I ended up having to disassemble the entire controller to get to the fader, found a leg was broken, had to resolder. The build quality is not as good as you think, the controller is just heavy for no reason.
So I’m debating if I want the rev 5 or the rev 7. I’m scared tho that if I get the rev 7, I’m not gonna be able to mix as well as I did on my old dj controller. Is there a learning curve when going from non motorized platters to motorized platters?
In your opinion, is this DDJ Rev7 worth the money?I’m waiting to buy the Flx 10. when it becomes available. they said that rev 7 has stems, but they’re through the Serrato software not built into the controller.
Spot on with everything you said I was brought up on tables & I absolutely love the battle set up. That stood out to me right away….my only issue(this came up on a few chats) was when dropping into a track….it lags a bit. Pioneer was upgrading the firmware to fix that issue. Sound quality is better than any mixer I’ve used. Super loud at my events. I’d be interested to see how it would sound in a bar/club system!!!! Def don’t sleep on this mixer by far the best one made so far. Great video Nick & keep killing it…I see you on IG My guy!!!
Given Numark's background with motorized platters, their Scratch mixer, and their release of the Mixstream Pro last year, it would be cool if they (or indeed Denon) released a standalone controller with motorized platters. Already today it's an interesting market where the REV7 is probably the coolest and most compelling package out there, whereas people like myself still values the standalone controllers where Denon is doing a good job. Will be interesting to see the reaction to this from all the brands.
Yes, you use the phasing technique where you basically use your finger on the side of the platter to slow the record down, or adversely give the platter a forward nudge to speed it up while beat matching. Some DJs even use a sort of tapping method to align their tracks where they tap the top of the platter to slow it down slightly. Once you learn how to do it you will immediately see where the jogwheel nudge was inspired from.
This one is interesting. I am considering changing my first gen DDJ SX (unless Pioneer release something like a reasonably priced DDJ 2000 in the next few months)
You said a lot more nice things about the Rane one than I expected lol great review g 💪🏽 you’re right in terms of features, the Rev7 blows the Rane one away, I appreciate that I can customize my Rane one a little easier but those on board fx would be a lot more satisfying to hear during my mixes
Thank you for this review, I value your opinion. Love your videos! Your tik tok video mixes are wicked as well. I feel the people at the receptions are lucky to have you as their dj.
Just got Rev7 for Xmas… plugged it in. No audio drivers! Downloaded audio driver file from Pioneer DJ & installed it. Rev 7 still doesn’t work. Still reads no audio driver. Any ideas??
Great review nick from a real pro that will use this to the maxx!! I've traded in my Rane ONE (had sound issues with the device)I'm waiting for it to arrive in store. So excited!! The effects on the Rev will be great!!
Brother you think you can 🙏 help me out I have the DDJ Rev 7 . For some reason my music sounds muffled like if I hit a button by mistake. Is sounds like only the voice in a strange way And No bass sounds weird.
Never had a controller but this review made me want one. Haha. I think at the end you meant "onboard effects" not "analog effects"? Analog effects on something like this would be bizzaro (but cool as hell.)
Hey Nick, what ya think about doing an episode on what used equipment to and not to buy? Like shit ya should NEVER buy used or what ya look for in used gear for us folks that may not be able to afford new pricing or just getting feet in the door?
Coming from Ns7 and 1000Srt the only issue I had was getting use to cueing new song. I never played on turntables and did not have issues with pitch slider but cueing on my headphones with that toggle switch was a challenge.
If they make this standalone, I may just pull the trigger. I'm still using my DDJ 800, which I love. This would be more fun though and I want standalone next.
Nick for someone that wants to upgrade his gear and uses 1200's and a older mixer, a Vestax 05 pro. Would you recommend getting a Rev 7 or a s7 or s11, to use with the 1200's? Just for home use. Love your channel I watch every video and appreciate what you do.
If it’s for home use and you aren’t moving your setup around too much, getting a good DVS mixer like S7 or S11 might be the way to go, especially if you like to play regular vinyl in addition to serato.
great vid, I am alway dealing with gear anxiety , should I get it or should I wait. But I alway end up using my 1200s, no matter what controller I buy.
I had one on order and cancelled it. I’m a turntable dj, always have been always will. I don’t hate on controllers but they’re just not for me. I grew up on decks and it’s what separates me from 99.9% of the rest. If they had 12” platters I would seriously consider it, but those 7” platters are kinda whack. I rather take the 2k and buy new Technics. Yo you ever review a Technic Turntable, like one of the newer models? By the way, one of the main reasons I follow you is because you’re a real dj. You use decks and you can scratch, and you always keep it real. 👊
If you're "a turntable dj, always have been always will." That doesn't " hate on controllers but they’re just not for me" why on earth did you have one on order are you just learning this about yourself. The part about "being separate from the rest" and pure. Why? Why would you order something with ""7” platters" that "are kinda whack"? C'mon, keep it real. What I saw was some performative posturing. You knew about all that wackness and you still ordered it? If you're a "real DJ" you'll clarify.
Great review! I'm contemplating getting this to replace my turntables and Rane61 setup! Those buggers are heavy to load at every event! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Btw, how is the lag for scratching? Say if you compare it to a Serato + turntable with cartridge setup?
If I had Serato crates on this via my laptop, then going to nexus 2000/3000 players via USB sticks - is it possible to plug and play, or do I need to use conversion software each time? thanks
Can you tell me if the MIC input has it’s own dedicated effects? I have the Pioneer DDJ 1000SRT and i have to switch the effects knob to each channel when i use the built in effects. I can only use the built in effects one channel at a time including the mic.
I own the 1000SRT since release and now I ordered the REV7 and will sell the 1000SRT to a very good price, cause there are not much 1000SRT on the market. I really hope, that I never regret the switch to the REV7 cause I love the 1000SRT for all the mobile DJ gigs. But I hate the effect knobs so much and this pre fader effects of Serato in the SRT also... love my DJ S11 with all the effects. thats why I want to switch. The only question I'm aksing me all the time... Is it no problem with the pitch right above the internals scratch banks? So you unintentionally touch these pads while mixing?
Awesome DJ Set I actually want to get the same thing too soon. I’m tryna save money for it. The DJ Set I’m using rght now is the ddj sb3 I’ve been using my sb3 since 2019, it’s still a good DJ set to use light weight to carry not heavy.
Just caught your review of the Rev7, impressive. I have a question about the comment you made regarding build quality. You said that the Rane One was built like a tank. In your opinion, would the Denon MCX8000 stand up? Ive had one of these for about three years now and I’m still to this day extremely impressed with this build quality, durability and functionality. What are your thoughts?
You talk about the sound quality coming out of the controller, i run a mac with audio out into my external mixer, am i better running the audio via the usb to the dj controller and then outputting audio from the controller to the audio mixer then to the speakers? Or will it make no difference because im going through an audio mixer anyway?
Getting the audio directly from the mixer/controller will always eliminate the possibility of the electric fields of your laptop components interfering with your sound quality.
Your review is the first one that now makes me want to consider this device. I was curious what you say about it. But would you really use it for a wedding?
Motorized platters means absolutely nothing to me so, I went for a standalone DJ console. I decided to go with the denon DJ Prime 2. Engine DJ built in Engine lighting built in Professional grade sound built in Sata bay for built-in storage. It can read a serato library clone or Rekorsbox formatted flash drives. It tix every box I had.
engine dj is so f.... up... I have two sc6000m and they are awesome as stand alone, but I would never ever use eninge dj for gigs. this is the achilles of denon dj and all denon users know that.
Hey Nick, thanks for the review, I’m back and forth on possibly getting one. I just bought the DDJ-1000SRT, and I’m excited to get that out into my work force. I ordered that one on Jan 1, ‘22 and it finally arrived. During that wait time they announced this one. I would definitely love to give one a test drive before purchasing it. We’ll see what happens. But thank you for your opinion on the Rev 7.
@@djdeznyc I ordered it from Guitar Center on Jan 1 like I mentioned. The case showed up like mid January I thin... But the 1000 took 10 weeks….. I haven’t even had time to set it up yet. I put it into its case and it’s just sitting there. I need time to familiarize myself with it. Currently I’m using the SX2 and 3…
Demon has started whit this in the early 2004 ,spinning platters for the real feeling,so it’s pretty old stuf and dennon was the brand that starting whit !!!
I noticed a bug but maybe not. When i loaded a DJ mix 2-3 hr set prerecorded i got no waveform view/scroll on the jogwheel. Not a huge deal but maybe there’s a limit on the length of the waveform & song length to process the data? Anyone else try loading a 1-3 hr mix?🤷🏼♂️
Hi there! I have had a Rev7 for about 2 weeks now and I have had an issue with marker drift when beat juggling. My marker starts at 12 O'clock and after about a dozen juggles ends up at 1 O'clock. This happens even with the instant scratch beat loop without a laptop plugged in. So it can't be a Serato issue. Have you noticed this same issue? Thanks!
@@blkndna1374 because i was trying to get feedback to see if others had the same issue and if there was a solution. And guess what. There was one. The anit-drift feature is a little confusing and it actually has to be turned off to prevent drift on the platters in Serato. It is on by default. That was explained to me by one of the content creators I commented on. If I did not shoot the question out there, I would not have had that answer. And it also helps other out there that have the same issue.
Very classy of you to spare us Rane ONErs heart in this review. That was Chris Rock level poise right there sir. Being from Jersey as well, I know how much you wanted to troll 😂
Are you going to buy the REV7?
Pre-ordered on Jan 29th... Can't wait to finally get my shipping notification!
I get tempted everytime i window shop on zzoundzz
how much it costs?
For me it’s between 1000SRT and Rev7. You made some very strong point on here… tell me. Does those platers perform better than the cdj on the 1000srt

Great video! I've just ordered this to replace my NS7 which has served me well for over 10 years. Time to explore the world of stems!

Great review! I'm contemplating getting this to replace my turntables and Rane61 setup! Those buggers are heavy to load at every event! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Btw, how is the lag for scratching? Say if you compare it to a Serato + turntable with cartridge setup?
If I had Serato crates on this via my laptop, then going to nexus 2000/3000 players via USB sticks - is it possible to plug and play, or do I need to use conversion software each time? thanks
Any sign of it working with Traktor..?
no habrá con subtítulos en español ?😞
Does it have a send/receive input to connect rmx1000?
Been waiting for This. Hell yea.
what u think of the Rane 4 vs that?
Definitely got me interested in investing in one now...
Is the Rev 7 Smaller that’s the DDJ Sz ?
Been using mine for 2 weeks .loving it .I have the ddj 1000srt and I just didnt care for the platter feel to it. The rev 7 is the way to go.
Where did you order from?
Can you tell me if the MIC input has it’s own dedicated effects? I have the Pioneer DDJ 1000SRT and i have to switch the effects knob to each channel when i use the built in effects. I can only use the built in effects one channel at a time including the mic.
@@moesnuts you know I havnt even tried to use effects on the mics .I'll have to check it out but I think it has a dedicated effect for the mic
There is no sound coming out but everything is on
Awesome DJ Set I actually want to get the same thing too soon. I’m tryna save money for it. The DJ Set I’m using rght now is the ddj sb3 I’ve been using my sb3 since 2019, it’s still a good DJ set to use light weight to carry not heavy.
They should be paying you with these infomercials. Jj. Great review. Thanks
Just caught your review of the Rev7, impressive. I
have a question about the comment you made regarding build quality. You said that the Rane One was built like a tank. In your opinion, would the Denon MCX8000 stand up? Ive had one of these for about three years now and I’m still to this day extremely impressed with this build quality, durability and functionality. What are your thoughts?
Cool Review... What did you mean with your OCD and the Rane One being "crooked"?
The platters are off center.
The Imperial March theme 🤣
That was for you PJ!!!
7:17 me watching star wars while my brother watching this vid be like
Yall feelin me lol
let me know if there is any issues with your cross fader mine began to get stuck after my first couple of days of use
Any plans to record a short mix using it soon? Would be good to see some of the effects and how it works in action 👍🏼
Coming soon!!
Do the pads have user modes like the S7 and S11?
Yes they have everything
Yo great review sir!! Nice job
Are they in stock anywhere? You got me all excited and now I can't find one until October!
Sigh... Great review though.
Why do people prefer hardware Vs software fx?
Your videos are the best!
Excellent review!
Has it got a master eq . Thanks
Did you work for geek squad?
Your review is the first one that now makes me want to consider this device. I was curious what you say about it. But would you really use it for a wedding?
Motorized platters means absolutely nothing to me so, I went for a standalone DJ console.
I decided to go with the denon DJ Prime 2.
Engine DJ built in
Engine lighting built in
Professional grade sound built in
Sata bay for built-in storage.
It can read a serato library clone or
Rekorsbox formatted flash drives.
It tix every box I had.
And for people who just enjoy having an oversized video game controller, you can still run this in controller mode with virtual DJ....
engine dj is so f.... up... I have two sc6000m and they are awesome as stand alone, but I would never ever use eninge dj for gigs. this is the achilles of denon dj and all denon users know that.
Great review! Planning on getting one soon. How is the mic sound quality?
Real good
Thank you for the information
that "Fader" is your pitch control.
Is there a case for the REV 7???????????
very good review, thanks!
The Rev9 will be coming shortly, so what are you gonna do Mr. Pioneer Fanboy? Chase all of the new stuff. The 1000's are fine
Omg how did u get a 1000. I could t find any so I just got the s-11 and 1 $ 2s
Great review
Thanks!
You are on every Pioneer DDJ Rev7 video. Why won't you just call Pioneer instead and get an replacement??
@@blkndna1374 because i was trying to get feedback to see if others had the same issue and if there was a solution. And guess what. There was one. The anit-drift feature is a little confusing and it actually has to be turned off to prevent drift on the platters in Serato. It is on by default. That was explained to me by one of the content creators I commented on. If I did not shoot the question out there, I would not have had that answer. And it also helps other out there that have the same issue.
Do you think its better than the srt1000 nick?
Yes

Very classy of you to spare us Rane ONErs heart in this review. That was Chris Rock level poise right there sir. Being from Jersey as well, I know how much you wanted to troll 😂
Do you still own the rev7 Had any problems with it
Still own it, still use it at all my bar gigs, absolutely love it. IMO still the best controller on the market
Yes indeed 💛 love you bro that's awesome 👌
I have the Denon Sc5000m with the x1800.... This is a novelty controller that needs a laptop.
