@@nicholascgear2002 The 3rd is so terrible I don't even consider it canon. As far as I'm concerned, Julie died at the end of 2. I will continue to think that until they make a true sequel saying one way or the other.
"That's probably the worst horror movie I've ever seen in my life." That's really saying something, considering the fact that this man watched Thankskilling and both Leprechaun in the Hood movies.
This video was awesome. Not only is this one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies, but I never fully understood the plot so that wrap up at the end was appreciated. Mostly, though, this recap was just funny as hell 😂
Ok so, it's weird how both Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. are both in this movie, and how the two eventually get married. Sarah Michelle Gellar is in Scream 2, and Matthew Lillard is in Scream. Matthew Lillard, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Sarah Michelle Gellar also make up more than half of the gang in Scooby-Doo. Illuminati confirmed?
They are still together too. That always made me happy, because you always hear about these Hollywood relationships tanking after a year or two. The 90s slasher bond is strong I guess!
Well, SMG and FPJ met on the set of this movie and have been together ever since. FPJ and Matthew Lillard were close friends, starring in She's All That, Wing Commander, and Summer Catch together. SMG had a LOT of pull in Hollywood when the Scooby-Doo movies were made, so most likely, she got the guys considered for casting.
@@amityislandchum seriously don't leave out SMG and Ryan P are in the classic Cruel Intentions with Joshua Jackson of Urban Legend and Dawson's Creek by Kevin Williamson...
@@amityislandchum Director of scooby doo (Raja gosnell) wanted a couple to play Fred and Daphne. So that's how they got on the radar for the role. (SMG and FPJ)
I feel like this movie is a lot more intelligent that people give it credit for. Like when Julie finds Max's body in the trunk, someone drives by in a truck and honks at her. From how fast the body is cleaned from the trunk, and the pictures in the fisherman's boat at the end, I think that person driving by honking is supposed to be Ben Willis. There are actually a handful of small things like this sprinkled throughout the film that makes it better if you catch it. The original script was a tad better though. Helen was supposed to be a pill popper and Barry was suicidal which added credence to people believing Barry was trying to kill himself in his car after the gym and Helen "cutting her own hair" and them smashing the mirror in a moment of craze. Also, pills were supposed to scatter across the stage from Helen when Barry gets attacked which gives a reason for the crowd to grab Helen and the officer not to believe her.
@@tiadalton6202 Checked for breath on a piece of glass or just their hand? Put an ear to his chest for a heartbeat? I know they're stupid, impulsive teenagers, but they just didn't even try. Granted dragging and dumping a grown man 's corpse sounds like a lot of work in itself. 😅
I actually really like the way you handled kill #1. It helps to maintain the fun of the mystery and feeling of catharsis when it's finally revealed. Even though I've seen the movie before, seeing the "#1" finally appear was satisfying rather than weird, like finding the last puzzle piece.
Helen’s chase scene went on for so long and was so good, I feel like she really didn’t deserve to die after that. Also, in the book she basically acted as a second protagonist and had another chase scene, just in book form, and in the novel she survived so... 🤷♂️
There's always Fanfiction. I believe it's called a "fix-it" style fic. You could take info from your preferred material & write your own ending. Just, maybe wrap it up at the end of the first sequel, with a nice blood stained bow? Sorry, couldn't resist. Stay safe everyone. 😆🎀
“I know what you did last summer” was actually my first ever horror movie that young me watched after my older sister showed it to me. Absolutely terrified me and I had to watch it in parts just to get through all of it. Glad to finally see it on the kill count. Well done once again, James, with recording all our favourite kills in all of our favourite horror movies
It's interesting watching his older vids because he's going for a dry delivery and matter of fact tone (not to mention spreading though). Now his pacing is incredible and he commits to jokes and making silly voices. It's much more endearing than his cool guy persona from earlier vids.
"Sand up in them cracks, beach sex" James... you just bring me so much joy with your horrible jokes. "humor is subjective" - Ice Nine Kills // Funeral Derangements
I loved this movie tbh. Also... every Mystery Gang actor/actress (besides Scooby of course haha) has been a killer/has been killed in a movie or two... or has been the final person Velma (Linda Cardelini) - killer in Legally Blonde Fred (Freddie Prince Jr) - I Know What You Did Last Summer 1 - 2 Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) - killer in Scream and a killer in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar) - killed in I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream 2 I know James mentioned it in the vid... i just thought I'd list them out 😅
Sarah needs more roles nowadays ... she is amazing. Especially in horror, she could easily be a great scream Queen. & her death in scream 2 was WAY to early
Fun Fact: Fred Prinze Jr and Sarah Michelle Gellar meet during the production of this movie and where already dating by the time Scooby-Doo came out. They are still married and in love to this day
I saw "Last Summer" with my dad as a 7 year old, and was my first ever scary movie. I remember vividly hiding under the sheets terrified. My cuddle teddy bear of choice was a Tickle Me Elmo. One jump scare made me jump so hard that I made him start laughing, ruining any mood. A few years later my step-dad and I were watching "Scary Movie," and when the girl goes "oh my God we hit a boot!" I immediately knew what they were referencing.
This movie is so special to me, watched it 10 years ago with my best friend and it got me really into older horror movies. Today most of the people that were around us and watched movies with us have lost contact, but my best friend and I are still holding strong. Yeah adult life changed the amount of movies we're able to watch, but we are still dedicated to this tradition and I hope it never ends

This was the movie that got me into horror. I remember being a kid and begging my mom to rent it from Blockbuster for weeks before finally getting to see it. I just rewatched it on Shudder and I can't say it's the best movie but it's still a personal favorite. The sequel is one of my favorite worst horror films ever. Can't wait to see you tear it apart.
I still remember my grandma finding out I watched it at a friend's house and saying "but that's rated X" after a hilarious gasp. No, Nana, it's really not.
Helen deserved to live, she fought so much for her life, one of the best chase scenes ever! She was much more interesting than Ray, who spend the whole movie being some kind of red herring, helen’s and julie relationship was much more interesting, i would have loved to see them fighting to survive together and being the two final girls.
Oh my gosh. I thought the same thing when I first saw the movie. She was so nice, so scared, and fight so much. And then to be killed a couple feet away from a bunch of people. It sucks and annoys me. And I totally agree with you about the hole Ray thing.

Helens Death was my most traumatic death scene in any Horror movie. I loved her character, she was really fighting, it was a long chasing scene. i really thought she gonna make it. and then she didn't i was so so sad
I love how James started questioning if he could count David Egan as the Dull Machete and then was like- “Of course I can. It’s my f**king show” absolutely 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 me.

what about the ending to the second film do u think juile died and the ghost of the fisherman kill her and ray or do u thank she is still alive even with what the third film states its never really clear in that movie on what happien to them, i like to believe that ray was killed but juile lived and at the end of the third film the girl is killed but the boy lived, i like to think that in a weird world juile and the guy meet to talk about there past in order to comfort each other on there lost
@@nicholascgear2002 The 3rd is so terrible I don't even consider it canon. As far as I'm concerned, Julie died at the end of 2. I will continue to think that until they make a true sequel saying one way or the other.

You know what imma go search up these actors up, not to face check or anything I just wanna know what characters they played.

That's interesting.
ooh where did you read that?
James: this iconic scene was actually directed by a kid
Random CEO: that's an idea!
And then we got Sharkboy and Lavagirl.

That movie ruined me. I can't watch the original Scream or this movie without thinking of Scary Movie.

It has the first horror movie I saw too
Mine too, i was eight. Watched it with my cousins and had nightmares for a week.
My first horror movie is Mama...and thats one of the reasons why im scared of butterflies..
I can't even remember my first one but it was probably nightmare on elm street or Friday the 13th
Mine as well! M teacher showed it to us in middle school...for some reason.
Man, I don’t know about y’all but I just love James’s voice, he has this natural comedic voice that is well suited to every movie his doing.
Can't get enough of it
I watch every video and I dont even watch horror movies
It's interesting watching his older vids because he's going for a dry delivery and matter of fact tone (not to mention spreading though). Now his pacing is incredible and he commits to jokes and making silly voices. It's much more endearing than his cool guy persona from earlier vids.
Like, he could literally narrate every movie, imagine James doing John Wick or The Room (Tommy Wiseau).
I can't take this movie seriously more because of Scary Movie, shame that James didn't make a reference
Yeah, I thought the same.
I actually hope he does a kill count on at least the first scary movie some day.

Matthew Lillard was also a killer in criminal minds (he did a fantastic jobs being incredibly fucking creepy)
Sarah Michelle Gellar was in the english made Grudge movies and died in the second one too.
Sarah needs more roles nowadays ... she is amazing. Especially in horror, she could easily be a great scream Queen. & her death in scream 2 was WAY to early
