So happy that you got all of the referral credits to reduce the depreciation hit. Great choice on the new Model Y. Can’t wait till you get the Juniper. I definitely would like to see a video with all of the gory financial details. Just curious to see how much depreciation there really was. Congrats!
Congrats! We just picked up a Stealth Grey with a white interior 25 MY LR RWD for my wife a week and a half ago. She absolutely loves it. It’s funny, it took me 3+ years to convince my wife that I should get an EV. I got an Ultra Red 7-seater with a white interior MY LR AWD at the end of October. Within two months, she was convinced to get one too. With current federal and Colorado incentives, inventory discounts, and referral credits, we saved a combined $33,000!
But also so far away. Production ramp could take 6+ months like it did for Model 3 from first launch in China. Then factor in issues, white interior delays, teething pains, and it might be the end of 2025 till a well built full lineup is available.
@@stevebbbbi5438 I bought a first year 2014 Mazda 6 in 2013 right when they did the "Skyactive" refresh. No issues and it has almost 180,000 miles on it now. But Tesla production is another story 😬
Good job Branden on pulling off what appears to be a great transaction on a car for your fiancé. You’ll like the way this one charges. I picked one up in early Nov with something like $3700 plus $500 off sticker, $7500 rebate, and financed the rest, minus a down payment, at 0%. Pretty happy so far.
I’m happy for you. I have the Tesla AWD 4680 battery and I learned a lot watching your videos. It works for me as I do local driving and charge only from home. Congrats on the new Tesla. Looking forward to when you receive your Juniper. I look forward to your future videos.
I thought I had you pinned for an 800V car next! But the referrals are a no brainer to drive the cost down. 👍🏻 You’ll enjoy the improved charge curve, even if it still needs improvements. :-) I helped my Dad purchase the same car you guys did and it’s a great ride.
Just traded in my 4680 MY for the LR RWD like you. Holy moly. What a range bump and charging bump. First time seeing over 200KW. Definitely worth every penny at zero percent interest. HW4 too.
Congrats on the new Tesla. As they say, once driving a Tesla, always a Tesla. I have the same model but in the AWD format being that it’s better for towing and I am driving in 5 months of snow. For the rest, enjoy it and have fun !
So did you end up getting like a total of $25k-$30k discount off this car? $7500 federal tax credit + $3700 inventory discount + $1000 free tow hitch discount + $1000 loyalty discount + like $15k in Tesla Cash Credits (and +3 months free FSD & Supercharging).
quite honestly caught me off guard on this decision as you were understandably bitter on the precious Y charge issues. Im glad you stayed with Tesla as I enjoy your candid input in your videos. Enjoy!
My dad just replaced my moms 2015 Prius with the long range rwd Y a couple months ago. Great car. She absolutely loves it and they’ve already put close to 10k miles on it.

@kens97sto171 You'll understand once you get your first EV and have had it for some time. You'll never want to go back to ICE again, and smelly gas stations and oil changes and needing new brakes every so often. It's sort of like going back to watching CRT televisions after you have been watching 1080p or 4k flat panel TV's for some time. Or going back to flip phones.
@junehanzawa5165 I've had my EV for a little over a year and put 60,000 mi on it. I'm sorry but you just over exaggerate all of the problems with ice. There are times where I miss my Prius. Particularly range and rapid refilling. Gas stations aren't that smelly, oil changes take 15 minutes. Brakes on a Prius less 120,000 mi on the front 200,000 on the rear. There are times that I actually miss my old Toyota Hybrid. And the EV is a bit of a pain in the ass. Two minutes at a gas station, versus spending 30 seconds every single day plugging it in. Not sure which one is a bigger hassle. Certainly the EV is less expensive to operate. But it isn't really that significant compared to the Prius. Maybe half the operational costs which sounds like a lot. Except the Prius doesn't have very high operational costs in the first place so half of not very much isn't really significant. I drive 60K per year and the EV is saving me maybe $2,500 per year. For the average person that drives 10 or 12K per year the savings would be pretty insignificant. But it does matter a lot what ice car you're coming from. If you were driving an unreliable high maintenance European car like Mercedes or BMW and yes an EV is going to be substantially less expensive to operate. If on the other hand you were coming from a Toyota Camry Hybrid or Toyota Prius. You're saving practically nothing and introducing a whole bunch of different risks. I put 225,000 mi on that Prius in 4 years, It lasted 425,000 mi total. There are days that I miss it. To replace it's range I would need a lucid air. To get the range that I really need everyday I would need minimum Tesla Model 3 long range rear wheel drive. So $35,000 car. The Prius cost me $2,000 to purchase and I drove it for almost 5 years. Extraordinarily low cost of ownership. My EV already had its main battery replaced. Not exactly what I would call reliable, it's been in the shop for a couple of other things too. The only advantage is now that the battery warranty reset to an additional 100K miles and 8 years. My plan is to keep it another year and then either sell it for that Tesla Model 3 long range. Or go back to a Toyota Hybrid.
I am going to wait to see what the Juniper has to offer. I definitely do not want to keep the AWD 4680 Model Y.... I have not had any issues at the superchargers, but the range could be better.
Congrats on all fronts, Branden-wishing you both a lifetime of happiness! Also, thanks for the idea about using Tesla gift cards. When redeeming them, is the process to include them at car purchase time straightforward?
Thank you! It's not straightforward at all - you have to add them to your Tesla Cash "wallet" by going to shop checkout (as if you're buying merch - you have to add something to your cart even) and then you'll have the option to add a gift card. You can do multiple at the same check out session so it's not too painful (since each gift card is $500 max) and then on the final payment screen prior to delivery of your new car, it'll prompt you offering to apply your Tesla Credits.
Congratulations! I wish I was you I could use a more compliant suspension mine is a Fremont built 2023 Model Y Long Range AWD purchased in Vancouver Canada just before Tesla Canada switch to Gigafactory Shanghai with the inferior LG smaller capacity battery pack and with a lot poorer charging and discharge specs. No. Just standard. I don't even notice the "downgrade" outside the lack of a subwoofer. Which is fine with me.
I got the same exact spec to replace my 4680. Only downside I see is the sound system. Let us know what you think.
Honestly I think the sound is still great, just with less bass without the subwoofer. Which is fine for me.
