I include MW3 and Black Ops 2 personally. MW3 had a great campaign, brilliant ending with its final mission in the trilogy. It had a great multiplayer compared to a lot of newer CoDs. No skill based matchmaking in that and BO2, and SBMM has turned countless people off the newer MP modes. BO2 has arguably the best and most balanced MP in the whole series, with a great campaign to boot.

I find it so interesting how, both Modern Warfare games (COD 4, and MW 2019), ended up being revolutionary and influential for their respective time periods. A lot of other fps games nowadays try to capture the feel of the current MW games just the same as other fps games did back in the days of the original MW games. Kind of a cool thing to witness, almost akin to history repeating itself.
41:38, Mathematician here: Median is not exactly the term you re looking for, instead I'd say the range is lower (both bounds are lower than their counterparts). Also if range is lower and average is higher, it is very likely, that the median is higher too.
@@Oblivion9873 It'd be the opposite no? Averages are more sensitive to tails, so more low points would bring the average down, whereas the median would stay relatively similar.
@@Titangrille Ranton said both that the maximum is lower and that the minimum is lower. The higher average he mentions makes it more likely, that there is a small range on the higher end, where most points fall into. This would make a lower variance and a higher median way more probable. But that doesn't have to be or at least it is not obvious to me, why that would be a logical consequence. For the median I was able to construct both an example with a lower and a higher median, given a higher average, but lower bounds.
If you’re gonna play any of them, MW 2019 is worth it. It’s my favorite in the franchise and has the best writing. Easily the best example of how to write a woman leader too.
Basically same. CoD3 was my intro to the series. I went back and ended up playing every game through Advanced Warfare, then I guess I skipped two years to WW2. Haven't touched the franchise since.
Advanced Warfare multiplayer made me stop playing call of duty. It was terrible. I only returned with MW2019, same to other comments, MW2019 is a stand out, and you can basically treat it like a standalone game.
One of your best videos hands down, amazing work dude, plus i disagree with some of the rankings but most of them are spot on placed as i did go through buncha cod games lately, im glad you enjoyed ww2 because that game is actually amazing
The pacing of this video is perfect. Just the right amount of time summarising the games that you remember playing them yourself without lingering and repeating points.
One of your best if not your best video to date Ranton, watched (like actually, on my first monitor) from the first minute to the last glued to the screen. I noticed the lower amount of skits or jokes this time around and honestly, I think that enhanced the focus of the video? It's good, I like it. Would've bloated the video to an hour honestly and that'd be bad.
Never seen anyone go back through the campaigns but your rankings seem quite fair from a modern perspective, I remember at the time loving COD4 and playing MW2, I have a lot of criticism for the MP but based purely on SP (and map design/art/ux) MW2 was amazing, I was so sad the campaign took me under 4 hours.
I've always been very conscious that COD has consistently been a good single player game with a few Vanguards in between. It's just the campaign gets overshadowed by zombies and MP so much that when those 2 modes don't meet expectations they trash the •Solo Experience• just because is in the same bundle. Thanks for the video Anthony, I'll share it with my mom and my grandma.
Two things First, the production quality of this video is absolutely top tier Second, in my list Cod 4 is a little higher, it easily reaches top 3 or at least gets very close, I believe it set a new standard for COD games, and its relevance still prevails today. Cod 4 was the first cod that I played and thought "That was amazing!" after completing it. Yes it happened again a few times with other CoDs, but that was the first time.
I dead ass remember getting my PS3 and having my cousin tell me to play "Call of Duty 4" and I was like the "the World War 2 game?". I remember the first time playing it and he took me to Shipment on multiplayer. The controls were still somewhat new to me - I was used to playing Grand Theft Auto and Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid, the idea that I could sprint was insane t me. And that with a single button could fucking knife someone, i didn't have to go to a menu to click "knife" or press one button to grab my knife and another to swing it with choppy controls - just a single click of the analog stick and knife, done. And that the bullets could penetrate walls? I had never played a game with gunplay as good as Modern Warfare at the time, it was genuinely mind-blowing to 12 year old me. Was absolutely hooked. I'm glad my childhood was the golden age of CoD.
regenerating health was such a contested thing back in the day. hit points have a time and place and shooters greatly benefit from regen or a "half regen" system. my all time favourite is ArmA where basically 1 shot = you're dead, and if not you may as well be
Literally not a single campaign mission since has gripped me as much as All ghillied Up. From start to end it was meticulously put together and arguably alongside the M1911 slide at the end of the game were the big moments that solidified modern CoD. Without moments like that it would've been just another first person shooter. They need to focus that again, and less on whether or not the characters swallow/spit, and are willing to be pegged.
Thank you Ranton for the hard work you've put into this video. I always take your reviews seriously because you care a lot about gaming and you don't sugarcoat things, you say it like it is and most of the time you are right. So keep giving us these fun reviews.
The last COD I've ever played was the very first Black Ops. After watching this, gotta say, I don't feel like I've missed out on anything. BUT watching this really made me feel nostalgic. Maybe I'll replay the first Black Ops and the original Modern Warfare 2. Can't believe it's been nearly 15 years.
THE MW1 and 2 remakes are pretty solid IMO, you can skip MW3 both OG and remake, I heard pretty good things about Cold War and ZI jsut beat BO6 on Veteran which was pretty fun. IMO BO1 is still the best COD out there though.
God damn! For a few days, I was thinking about replaying some of CoD games and was hoping I'd find a video that rates them - a good video. This is brilliant. Thank you so much!
The best for me: Call of Duty World At War (2008). It combines historical authenticity from CoD 2 with the more realistic engine of CoD 4, and adds some extra harsh brutality of war on top...
two notes. one, yeah ghost in the new mw2 gets even worse when you actually realize his gear is completely impractical and wouldn't be worn by an operator and he would NEVER be allowed to wear that fucking mask, and 2, federation day from ghosts is a criminally underated mission. rappelling down the side of that tower is so fucking cool
i basically agree with your whole list except black ops 2, that game holds a special place in my heart, Menendez was one of the best villains COD has ever came up with. thank you for this trip down memory lane, shit really took me back. AMAZING WORK as always from the youtube G.O.A.T.
I’m so happy that Black Ops ranked so highly on your list! It’s my favorite CoD, as while I think others deliver better individual experiences (MW2’s MP is incredible and BOIII’s Zombies has stood and I think will continue to stand the test of time), BO has the most rounded package, with all of its modes being great! After watching this video, though, it really makes me want to go back and play these campaigns myself, so your video succeeded on that front! Can’t wait to see what you think of BO6!
Really good list Rantoni Pepperoni!! Personally think Cold War is a bit high, MW3 over WaW is a little questionable but I don't hate it. Glad Advanced Warfare got some love, basically the only enjoyable of the futuristic games. Black Ops II ranking is dead on, that campaign is overrated...
Never played BO3 campaign but the reason it sold so much was because of it’s multiplayer ofc. Imo it was the most innovative COD after MW1 and 2. The fast paced shooting was an awesome change and much better than whatever advanced warfare tried to do.
I legit love the BO3 campaign, felt like the most fleshed out gameplay-wise with upgrades, progression, bossfights etc, and the story was really great and moody but you had to think about it - And thinking about what they're seeing is not something CoD fanbase is known for. I think BO3 campaign was better than CoD has any right to be and I will die on this hill. Probably alone. I am 100% convinced that if that game came out under a different title and was played by a different playerbase with different expectations it would be a cult classic today.
Incredible video, it's clear how much effort went into this :) Surprised there was no mention of the silent protagonist in Black Ops: Cold War, something they've related with Black Ops 6. I know there's text dialogue options but having a completely silent protagonist again after so many years really broke immersion for me.
Black ops 2 was my personal favorite, the gunplay and maps just hit right. Yeah the campaign wasn't the greatest but the multiplayer was orgasmic, it was the last call of duty I ever managed to get into and I often times find myself coming back to play it.
@@Circuroseexactly, it has great replay value that I can see myself playing the campaign many times for the challenges, secrets or story choices unlike mw3 or ghosts which is a one and done thing

I dont care about CoD at all, but your editing is so energetic and your passion is so genuine, it makes it fun to watch a long video about it anyways. Well done Ranton, always love your gaming vids.
I will defend the WW2 train scene to my last breath. I don’t care how unrealistic it is, I don’t care how drawn out it is. It’s fucking awesome. You crash a goddamn train and it’s just this humungous unstoppable force that tears apart the area for a solid 40 seconds and I LOVE IT
I’m more of a fighter player than I am a fan of FPS games, but black ops 1 and 2 were my first COD games and since then I’ve had a love of zombies forever 😂😂😂 I don’t really have an opinion on the list but I mean whenever I see Anton upload I have to watch 🤷🏽♂️😂
MW2 sums up being the amalgamation of MW1 and WoW, adding a rollercoaster of big set cinematic pieces where highs were action packed and lows are theatrical storytelling complimented by Hans Zimmer.
This must've taken SUCH A LONG TIME to make, but it was absolutely worth it! Incredibly entertaining while still clearly explaining your opinions and getting your points across. The editing also deserves a round of applause of course!

Generally the phenomenon discussed would typically be true of a lower median higher average too. I.e. its more peaky but less consistent
@@Oblivion9873 It'd be the opposite no? Averages are more sensitive to tails, so more low points would bring the average down, whereas the median would stay relatively similar.
wouldn't it be "smaller variance"? Range would only look at the extremes.
@@MasterM23 makes sense given what ranton said. thanks for explaining.
Advanced Warfare was the last one I played. Thanks for the summaries. Funny stuff dude
Thanks bro
The pacing of this video is perfect. Just the right amount of time summarising the games that you remember playing them yourself without lingering and repeating points.
This is so SO much better than 95% of gaming content good god
Thanks so much
@@RealRantongreat video, earned my sub. Want to see what's next ...

World at war is the best COD then modern warfare 2
Never seen anyone go back through the campaigns but your rankings seem quite fair from a modern perspective, I remember at the time loving COD4 and playing MW2, I have a lot of criticism for the MP but based purely on SP (and map design/art/ux) MW2 was amazing, I was so sad the campaign took me under 4 hours.
Every time I keep watching this video i just can’t comprehend how you even edited and made all these visual elements. Amazing quality man.
Thank you so much
I've always been very conscious that COD has consistently been a good single player game with a few Vanguards in between.
It's just the campaign gets overshadowed by zombies and MP so much that when those 2 modes don't meet expectations they trash the •Solo Experience• just because is in the same bundle.
Thanks for the video Anthony, I'll share it with my mom and my grandma.
Two things
First, the production quality of this video is absolutely top tier
Second, in my list Cod 4 is a little higher, it easily reaches top 3 or at least gets very close, I believe it set a new standard for COD games, and its relevance still prevails today.
I'm glad my childhood was the golden age of CoD.
appreciate theyve invested Black Ops 2 players choice on Cold War.
Unironically the most dedicated and hardworking game reviewer out here up there with MandaloreGaming and a few others. Love you Ranton! 🙉

MW3 over World at War is crazy
Yea kinda. But not really

I did love the trilogy but I agree
I agree. For me, WAW > MW3 any place, any time.
The one that shocked me, was how he put mw3 above bo2.
damn so many long high quality videos recently. respect!
Man this guy works hard on his videos, hope this blows up
Thanks dude. Share it with your friends and grandma
@RealRanton my grandma is dead, I'll share it with my friends tho
regenerating health was such a contested thing back in the day. hit points have a time and place and shooters greatly benefit from regen or a "half regen" system. my all time favourite is ArmA where basically 1 shot = you're dead, and if not you may as well be
I'm a fan of OG Modern Warfare trilogy but World at War is unbeatable.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will always be my favorite Call of Duty personally, great game.
the way they just birthed the modern warfare aesthetic and genre is just so legendary
Literally not a single campaign mission since has gripped me as much as All ghillied Up. From start to end it was meticulously put together and arguably alongside the M1911 slide at the end of the game were the big moments that solidified modern CoD. Without moments like that it would've been just another first person shooter. They need to focus that again, and less on whether or not the characters swallow/spit, and are willing to be pegged.
yuuus
love you play! love you fight! and love you yelling ''jaywalking OROSPU!!!''
Thank you Ranton for the hard work you've put into this video. I always take your reviews seriously because you care a lot about gaming and you don't sugarcoat things, you say it like it is and most of the time you are right. So keep giving us these fun reviews.

@@pffpffovich2398 how can OP put bo2 in the top 3? Easily just as bad as bo3’s campaign if you ask me.
@@HunterAnsorge-ok9jkFor some reason I always feel iW fanboys have the lowest iQs in the CoD player base.
IMO BO1 is still the best COD out there though.
try black ops 2. this guy really missed the mark on how good the game was
@@gaming.golden The game was good, just not great IMO.
You've missed a LOT on BO2 and BO3 multi-player and zombies..
@@estebanod not really. Haven't cared about multiplayer shooters since I was a teen. Don't have the eyesight for them anyway.
10:36 I agree, IT IS مصخرة
I like this video and I like it when big youtube channels reflect on the cod series. Even when the channels aren't even always gaming related.
two notes. one, yeah ghost in the new mw2 gets even worse when you actually realize his gear is completely impractical and wouldn't be worn by an operator and he would NEVER be allowed to wear that fucking mask, and 2, federation day from ghosts is a criminally underated mission. rappelling down the side of that tower is so fucking cool
i basically agree with your whole list except black ops 2, that game holds a special place in my heart, Menendez was one of the best villains COD has ever came up with. thank you for this trip down memory lane, shit really took me back. AMAZING WORK as always from the youtube G.O.A.T.
BO2 is easily the best Call of Duty ever made.
45:57 Need for Speed maybe?
Really good list Rantoni Pepperoni!! Personally think Cold War is a bit high, MW3 over WaW is a little questionable but I don't hate it. Glad Advanced Warfare got some love, basically the only enjoyable of the futuristic games. Black Ops II ranking is dead on, that campaign is overrated...
I havent played a CoD game since 2011, but I was glued to the screen watching this video the whole time regardless. Awesome video, man. Love this
Not mentioning Zombies for WaW is criminal. But I suppose this video is about the campaigns only
The simple classic WaW zombies is probably my solid second choice. First choice is BO2 zombies.
@@MidnightToker24I’m a bo1 enjoyer personally. It’s my favourite cod all around
You suppose? He says so. Lmao.
@@MidnightToker24 Zombies hasn’t been good since Ascension in BO1
Never played BO3 campaign but the reason it sold so much was because of it’s multiplayer ofc. Imo it was the most innovative COD after MW1 and 2. The fast paced shooting was an awesome change and much better than whatever advanced warfare tried to do.
not even to mention the fact that it has one of the best Zombies of all time
ohhh yes, dear BO3 mp and zombies... i wont forget you
The zombies scene in this game was incredible, amazing maps, story, EE and the community felt great.
@@aleksanderolbrych9157 nah you're cooking man, BO3 campaign is peak
Incredible video, it's clear how much effort went into this :) Surprised there was no mention of the silent protagonist in Black Ops: Cold War, something they've related with Black Ops 6. I know there's text dialogue options but having a completely silent protagonist again after so many years really broke immersion for me.
You didn't played the first COD expansion pack called United Offensive, it was great too.
Black ops 2 was my personal favorite, the gunplay and maps just hit right. Yeah the campaign wasn't the greatest but the multiplayer was orgasmic, it was the last call of duty I ever managed to get into and I often times find myself coming back to play it.
The campaign was the greatest tho
The choices and consequences make Black Ops 2 one of the greatest campaigns.
@@Circuroseexactly, it has great replay value that I can see myself playing the campaign many times for the challenges, secrets or story choices unlike mw3 or ghosts which is a one and done thing
You know its a good video when you have no investment in the subject, but the viewer's enthusiasm and passion bleeds over and makes you care.

I don’t really have an opinion on the list but I mean whenever I see Anton upload I have to watch 🤷🏽♂️😂
MW2 sums up being the amalgamation of MW1 and WoW, adding a rollercoaster of big set cinematic pieces where highs were action packed and lows are theatrical storytelling complimented by Hans Zimmer.
