For a casual console or pc player that wants to run 4K on the series X or PS5 this is a great monitor for that I had the same monitor but a 1080p from years ago and it was great also!

I don’t understand why it’s so hard to make a decent monitor . It’s like “4K but not HDR” “HDR but not 4K” “HDR 4K , but weird design” , etc etc . My laptop has had a 4K hdr panel at 3yrs old. Just put that in a 32in rectangle display with an adjustable stand . 🤷🏽‍♂️

I bought the UJ59 to replace my Predator 4k ISP 32 inch. I much prefer the UJ59. This review forgets to mention it as a zero to 100 sharpness setting. This monitor has all the crispiness the Predator lacked. Plus the UJ59 has a 4k/60Hz HDMI input the Predator frustratingly didn't have. On well shot 4k footage faces look almost 3 dimensional on this monitor. I am gaming in clover with it.
The supplied stand is fixed and will only by coincidence suit you, but the Vesa mount allows a stand of your choice.

How does the UJ59 look in Windows? Is the image quality as good as the IPS? I have the same Acer monitor that I am now considering abandoning.

I have the 2 too, iam agree with the review, first TN panel, freesync never works, joystick broke with the time, a little laggy. The UJ59 uses VA panel, better color reproduction, Freesync Ultimate mode working, and quicker response time, very good choice for 4k 60hz !!!

I just watched this video on a u28d590d, bought 2014.
It is slow, really slow but it was one of the cheapest 4k at its time, so you get what you pay for (still far better then my old 24" FHD).
2016 i bought the u28e590 which has freesync, better colours and is a whole lot faster in response (I'm just feeling here no actual messuarement) and that for 260€ (now its 230 without sale)
I tried out some 400-500€ VA and IPS Screens but imo they were all not worth the money and the bump in what ever category the brought.

  • @jetpil0t

I have two of these monitors for work and they are perfect for office use or programming (maybe not photo editing), however the really only bad thing is that the viewing angle is so bad you really cant use this at all in portrait at all as the vertical viewing angle is awful. The viewing angles also are pretty bad generally, definitely with two of these they will both appear to color shift constantly as you move your head or get up and sit down, sharing content is sort of sad as well. But yeah for straight up real estate and spot on size at this price, it's a perfect utility type display for an office, worlds better than any 24" 1080p most offices will throw at people. Obviously an IPS display would be ideal, especially if you want portrait viewing for code etc but they are like 2x the price at least making this pretty strong value regardless. Nice actual review too :D

    • @mainframe3675
      @mainframe3675 5 днів тому

No, because the reviewer is criticizing a monitor that is a top-of-the-line monitor with the specs for the money... it's a no-contest at $300 because its closest competitors start in the $500-$600+ range.
All this comes from a combination of 3 components:
      - There is no overpayment for the appearance of the stand, etc. - because you will hang it on VESA anyway
      - 4k
      - a real 10-bit matrix, which is confirmed even by the "Displayspecification" website

I have U28 back when I bought it when it was the cheapest one. Also, mine was an openbox so I it was even cheaper. But it's not too bad actually for a casual PC user like me. I don't really noticed a huge difference between this and other 4k monitors. Yea, there are some of the problems with it. Mainly the fastest response time mode, but otherwise it's ok. The original Display port cable that came with a monitor was an absolute garbage, but Best Buy just replaced it with their own brand cable .

Great review! I have a question though (for anyone) I’m running an MSI Tri- Frozen RTX 2070, if I were to upgrade to a 4K monitor with a higher refresh rate could my gpu handle it?
I just got this UJ59 32in Samsung monitor... I love it but I was coming from a 5 year old Asus VS247H-P 23.6" Full HD 1920x1080 2ms using a dvi cable Lol. Now one thing about the Samsung is the hdmi 1 only allows for 30hz max, hdmi 2 is what gives 2160p @ 60hz. I’ve watched some movies in 2160p and some I was super impressed with but others seem super dark. But adjusting brightness does help or makes the imagine look funny. But I am looking at it from a funny angle because the stand doesn’t allow for tilt adjustment. Also I’m running’s hdmi on slot 2 but I want to try for the display port.

I like these monitor reviews. I have a Acer Predator XB132yadayadayada, which I now had to send it for service, because of the gsync module failing.
I might want to replace it, as I would really like 32" or higher with 4K and freesync/gsync. But also, some form of HDR and higher refresh rate than 60Hz. My Acer can't do 4K Netflix, and can't do 4K over HDMI, as it doesn't have HDMI 2.0b (only 1.4).
But there isn't a lot to choose from.
So really appreciate your reviews of big(ger) monitors than 27". Keep up the good work, good stuff!
Also, would be interesting to see if some of the higher end Samsung's are worth it at all. Like the QLED monitors with freesync.

So, what is this monitor good for then? Where i live that is pretty much the options we get. I have a pro RGB monitor which i bought in the US but i use it for my pics, but it is 2K. the 4K full RGB was double the price. I am building a new PC for my videos editing only but we have not RGB monitors where i live. My question is: will i actually see a big different between this monitor as to a BenQ SW271 27 Inch 4K HDR Professional IPS Monitor |10-Bit? I have the same version monitor but 2k for my pics. thanks for your insight. I truly appreciate it!

I bought this monitor recently and it starts flickering like crazy, and it gets so bad going from bright to dark it eventually closes itself and reopens, only to do the same again and again until I remove the power cable, because I am unable to even close it with it's power button.
Edited: I posted a refund request and placed it in it's packaging. I also checked the net and it turns out that other people have the same problem.

I recently bought this for a second coding monitor I only paid $202 for it though. I don’t game on it but I am pretty good with it for the price. Haven’t searched for it that hard but there is no manual input selection which irritates me.

There is a manual input selection on the UJ59. You press the nipple and it's the arrows on the left.

@Level1Techs Have you noticed that if you plug in two 4K monitors to nVidia GPUs (doesn't matter which one, I've tried 4 different cards, 970 - 1080Ti), it turns off power saving and stays in P0 forever? This happens in Linux, but I've heard it to happen in Windows too. In my tests lowering the refresh rate you can make it to stay in various power states -- they look like being hardcoded to the driver code. Can you test this, it would be nice if someone was talking about the driver quality as it looks like nVidia does not care about quality, only the FPS counter...
