- I wasn't expecting this at all, I saw Norman while helping Tina a few doors up. I then asked if he needed a helping hand.. so he showed me his Driveway. As the day went on I asked if I could see the side/back garden and let's just say I was shocked. He admitted he wasn't the most tidy person but conditions look so bad so I'm going to make this a series! Getting Norman back up on his feet with better living conditions.

This was a real blessing. If he'd asked any company that was charging, I bet they'd have either turned him down or charged the earth. When you're overwhelmed with that kind of job, you just need someone non-judgmental and hard-working to come along and help... this could make a huge difference to his life, not just a regular makeover. Well done, Ben, you're doing more than you know with these blessings, I reckon. Love the colour that the rust went before it was washed away! 😊

In the US psychologists dealing with hoarding are contacted and a team of cleaning specialists are brought in. Norman needs a support group or counseling to help him with his issues.

@@FlawlessCleaningServiceshello dear man. After losing hubby many years ago and some health problems that followed my beloved Garden became overgrown and much more than I could handle. I live in Vancouver Canada and the days of being able to find anyone to come in and do yard work clean up is impossible. There are Landscaping businesses everywhere that want to charge thousands of dollars which includes a contract of continued upkeep. Sadly I did get a few offers of assistance but there was always a very unwanted agenda. LOL you are truly a blessing to this lovely man as being ashamed to walk out your back door and tried to avoid even seeing what's out there is a sad way to live. Finally I decided that I would start one piece and one bit at a time and work on one little section and so on. I'm sure that watching you're positive generosity will give me the incentive to carry on. Sending both you and Norman and abundance of blessings across the pond. So terribly excited to see the completed project as well as the look on Norman's face it will truly be priceless.
I hope your Dad heals quickly and completely and that you get lots of helpers to finish that job.

Total BS! Getting older doesn't mean that being a filthy slob/hoarder is okay. You getting older? Then get rid of the stuff you can't take care of and keep in order. Stop using age as an excuse for being foul and filthy.

I haven’t watched the whole video yet but I was wondering the same thing. I’m a 69 year old female and I have a much bigger property to take care of and I do it myself. I work full time and help care for 2 sick family members. This man seems physically capable. Must be something else going on.

I think dear Norman had squatters in his front garden and you were able to clear out the remnants. When you have a tree guy come in, I hope they trim the front as well. He needs to have us trimmed from a safety standpoint and to be a good neighbor. Please be careful in the back - hoping you get the assistance you need on the back and side because it looks overwhelming. Bless you for helping Norman 😊

Norman’s front area now looks so clean and tidy. If possible I would move the motorcycle around to the cleared area for safekeeping and looks. The pressure washing made a big difference, too!

We should never judge people because we don’t know what they are going through. He could have been going through something and got overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start so just didn’t. I’m so glad that you found him and surly made him proud of the front of his cut house. I hope that the back yard gets done with lots of help.

Her is an idea for you to make things easier and faster.. Get a large tarp, spread it out on the ground, while weeding, picking up, trash, trimmings, bushes, limbs etc...throw everything on the tarp, grab a corner and drag it with you wherever you are picking up piles of leaves, trash, twigs, branches, etc, when its full, pull the 4 corners of the tarp together, put a rubber band around them and it makes a great little plastic sack to carry to the dump. open it up and lift one side of the tarp to slide the contents out at the trash site. Or if you have a pick-up truck, lift the tarp into the back of the truck and slide the contents out into the back end, put tarp back down and do it again.
Keep 5 or 6 tarps on hand for large yards with lots of weeds/trimmings/trash etc...
You will never have to use one person to hold a sack open while putting the trimmings in, or you won't have to use one of your hands to hold a sack open. The tarp makes the work so much easier and quicker.
You were so gentle with him. Always reassuring him about his possessions and matching his state of mind.❤
