I think Randall Hall is much better. Its almost embarrasing to watch How much better he plays than Ed King. Ed King could never get the Freebird solo right.
@@petegasper2806 Ed was playing correctly, Randall was using Allen's Explorer and not comfortable with the neck, You may seen him playing differently than Ed, 8:52

He was so frickin fun to watch! Never got to see him in person so getting to see the band on u tube means a lot to me. Makes me sad watchin Gary cause I know it hard to be hard not have Ronnie to stand by in the slow part then Allen when he starts the solo. You can tell they all loved each other. This is so hard to watch. My heart is breaking again and again. Now my friend Charlie is in heaven. Musicians of this genre like myself and who remembers the crash, will never get over it. Billy was showing out now!!! The spotlight on the empty mic stand with Ronnie's hat just took my breath. Free Bird is our southern anthem. Whoo!!! Bend them strangs younguns! My heart is crying now. So many greats on that stage have gone on. Those of you that have said you were there? Please treasure this moment for it CANNOT happen again. Thankful for this video
I was there!!! First time together in 10 years, Stevie Ray Vaughn and a ton of great talent was at Starwood Amphitheatre that day for Volunteer Jam Vlll....hell of a senior year moment to remember from high school
The Lynyrd Skynyrd band were special guest who appeared in 1979 volunteer jam. I think it was volunteer jam V. They did this version of Freebird with Charlie Daniels playing guitar. Allen Collins was still able to play. Leon was there but still had not completely healed from his injuries so he couldn't play with them that night.
I was there to use an awesome show I’ll never forget it I’m going to the next volunteer jam tribute to Charlie Daniels I can’t wait it’s gonna be great now
Ed King absolutely nailed it here, You can see the other guitarist.. (who is that?) watching him and keeping up.... They all played great. Gary was a good guy to play along. DO miss AC..

Long live the CDB and Lynyrd Skynyrd! Though some members of both have moved to heaven, they will always be the Best of Americana and Southern Rock a true brand of Country Music!
I was blessed to meet Charlie Daniels after a show in Baltimore. He came out to the parking lot after the show and talked to us like he was one of us for about 45minutes just the coolest man ever. Don't see that too much anymore! R I. P. King 🙏♥️🙏
I was there, and it BLEW my mind. Concert of a lifetime. After seeing footage of AC, Ed is technically proficient and does a fantastic job with a difficult solo. It’s still nothing like AC keeping it out on the edge every moment with all the speed and energy. The notes are there, but not the passion. Still damn proud to have seen it. ❤️

yeah brother, Oct 15, 1977!!! I was there! they broke the indoor record attendance in Fla. that night. The first night of the tour!! And five nights later the world changed.
I've seen them 3 times in concert 92,99 and 06 even though it wasn't the same lineup they put on a hell of a show each time. R.I.P. to all of the members they have lost over the years long live the Lynyrd Skynyrd band.
