Greta video and like the new format. I have played the game a few times at 2 and I have found that you definitely run the risk of getting caught up in the game's various mechanisms, especially the ones that don't actually provide points. I played a game and got a bonus card and my double servant, while my opponent focused on getting the cards that match the destiny die and that 3 points a round was the difference. Made me remember that going for victory points is still the objective and that I needed to better focus on what actually provides points in the game.
I'm not sure if you missed it in the rule book (or if it's not in the retain version), but when it comes to the cards included, there is a variant where you mix all the cards that aren't used in the game to set the board initially. It doesn't change the game massively but it is a little more variability. Re player count: I've only played 2 and 3, and I think the more players the more tactical the game becomes. With 2 you can really chain actions on certain spots, especially as it's easier to have a rough idea of what cards your opponent(s) have and the number of servants they have. The lack of change on the board is less important to me, but I can see it being a problem for some who don't like the static nature. Re play time: I find it's a very quick game, I've managed 2 player in 45 minutes and even a 3 player learning game was 90 and could easily get down to 60 after a couple of plays. I think trying to minimise use of servants so going for places with lower values or looking at spots with destiny dice values reduces the options you consider which I found limits AP. I think my favourite part of the game is the conflict between choosing where to put a card for its action and the card that's there to get points via the destiny dice (the extra 3 you get can be a game decider in my experience). The fact that it plays into the servant economy makes taking sub-optimal action spaces more tempting. I also agree with the comment that having game info on screen for a touch longer if possible would be a good change. Like the new review format overall.
Nice review, and I enjoyed the new format, good show. I think it's very good 2 player game. You can knock a 2 player game of this out in under an hour.
I've played that only once but my first impresions are that getting the 5th card is a must to do well, and due to you usually trying to hold on the cards matching the dice in order to have more workers next turn, I felt the game kinda drives you and not the other way around, we were basically reacting at the game with the few (useful) options available every turn. With experience I can see things changing, but I don't believe it's gonna hit the table often for that.
Hi there. Nice video again. Concerning your review of Blackout, in the first, I didn't bought it. In the second, I bought it after 4 hard weeks of over thinking it. After three soloplays the only thing I can say, I am happy not to missed these Pfister!
Solo is probably the only way I would play Blackout because you don't have to deal with horrible downtime in multiplayer solitaire. Try a 4P game and see for yourself! 😂
Good stuff mate, enjoying the new format so keep it up and great review an all. On another note, is there any other UK game retailers u can recommend? already shop at zatu, games lore, boardgameguru and magic madhouse. just trying to broaden the buying horizon 😁
Yeah the template does that automatically. Not sure if I can extend it really! But I try to give all the same info during the overview anyway. To extend it and then redo the music to match I might be able to do eventually but just a lack of time currently.
Great review, enjoying the new style, very comprehensive. Trying to like the game, I have the deluxe and it’s stunning but only managed 2 player games and the rubbish solo mode at just find it a bit aimless. Do stuff, get points. I think the decree set up is vital to adding a strategy aspect. Hopefully it works better at 3 and 4.
I bought the Deluxe edition via Kickstarter. I absolutely love it. Great review Luke!

Love the new format. Very structured. I would suggest a darker color for your text on the outro however, it’s not easy to read at all.
I'll have to rerender it but it's on my list of stuff to do.

I'll have to see how long it would take to extend it. Templates aren't always the most flexible. Time is another issue but I'll see what I can do.

Chaos Cards and Board Game Extras?
Nice intro! I think the game info can stay on the screen longer - right now it’s a bit fast. Other than that, great stuff, keep up the good work!

What is Chyner?

Much better, 2 player I would never play with again.
Could you add the timestamp for the different sections (duration, immersion, replayability). Did I miss anything?
Noted for future.
More decrees will increase.... hmmm, confusing :D Nice review nonetheless!
Nice new intro. Well produced.
