I had the exact same truck...same color too.. 2WD long bed 1987 22R. I got to about 260K. Timing chain was slapping on the housing pretty bad at startup. Hydraulic tensioner was giving up. But it still ran fine. I bought it for $7000 new as a leftover and sold it 12 years later for $700. I had to have transmission rebuilt because I was hauling full load of tools all the time. Added more leafs to rear springs. But engine and everything except the 5SP was great. I miss that thing. Lot of good times with my dog riding with me Yours is in pristine condition. Mine has some rather serious body issues by the end. I had TuffKote Dinol applied back then but it didn't work that great. Every fall I would pull it into the garage and have a "body" weekend.
I own a 1997 Toyota hilux ute l live in Australia my toyota hilux has 430000kms on it and l love it bough it 3 years ago for $1500aud and have spent a similar amount on fixing it up in NSW we have a yearly regestration inspections and l haven't passed first time mainly l have had to replace the exhaust system because it was leaking and we have no emission testing and l have a carburetor and no cata
I bought a New 86 Toyota truck for around $ 7000. Put 290,000 mostly freeway miles. Sold it for $2000 to a guy who did tile work. He had it 5 years later hauling heavy loads. Do not know the final milage. Had to be close to 400,000...Worked very hard.
Had this in a 82 Celica ST...185k and never opened...1 water pump...Great Engine
Former 84 Celica owner here...
