@@ArthropodSpidey calling out incompetence and quality control issues is racist apparently, lol... from the OP who insinuated that in the first place.
I just rented a Jaguar F-Pace a couple of weeks ago. This unashamedly shares a lot of parts with that car, including the drivetrains and infotainment system. And, I really liked the interior. The Jag is a few thousand dollars cheaper, too, and has more physical controls! Given how similar these two cars are, I don't know why you'd buy this over the Jaguar unless you're just a badge snob.
12:35 That's an option to prevent accidental up/downshifting, which is great. It's also good if you happen to have an elderly driver; random shifts might distract them. Thank you for showcasing a bit more of the infotainment this time around! That's the sort of stuff I'm here for.
4:00 Absolute money pit. An X5 is wayy superior, with a better interior, controls, materials and drivetrain. Better resale value too 14:30 Very average 22:00 Looks nice though on the exterior
It's an X3 competitor, not X5. Velar is a compact SUV, while X5 is a mid-sized one. For mid-size SUV like X5 you have Range Rover Sport model to compare. But I agree that materials and quality are disappointing in this Velar.
Needles to say yet 100% with you on the screen frenzy trending currently... I hope it's over sooner than later! Awesome 👌🏻 review and drive as always 😀 👍🏻
The interior quality is absolutely trash for the price. Even worse than the new X3. I have no idea why anyone would buy one instead of a well equiped slightly used Range rover sport (or a used X5 in the case of the BMW)
Land Rover ruined pretty much all of their cars with the single screen all function thing. The terrain response controller and other buttons were deleted in the big Rovers, what a big mistake ! I believe they started this trend with the Velar and Evoque. I hope they won’t touch the Defender’s interior at least.
Dam people are hating on Landrover. Do the people in the comments actually own a velar or are all of them experiences from “people I know”. Reliability is a mixed bag, but so is most other luxury car brands.
@@TheTopher that is very strange. In wasn’t expecting that to be a thing to go aswell. We had ours for 27k miles and nothing has gone wrong so might be an unlucky one
@@Adamlllllllllllljjjljljjjjj Most of us don't own a Land Rover because of their history with unreliability. History is the keyword here, they have a lot of work to do if they want to earn the people's trust back, especially with how much they charge.
Fantastic exterior, beautiful interior too -- until you actually touch the materials. No way this is worth the $$, except if you really want the badge. Volvo XC60, fully loaded, is way more premium than this. For much less money; even the XC60 PHEV is much cheaper and it has 455 HP and the materials in the interior are top notch. Better sound system available, seat massage... and it will be more reliable.
This is no joke but a serious question. What sort of customers are Land Rover marketers trying to tailor since this car has a lot of plastic inside, costs more than X3, is less tech-savvy than any Asian or German car, and, of course, is not as reliable as even German cars? Who are the customers who would in good conscious buy this car? Just for the sake of exterior? a Look? I assume these are the same people who just people by look too

Great, comfortable car for all the trips to the dealership and mechanic.
😂 LOL
Indian engineering lmao.

Great looking car but I have literally not heard a single good thing from owners.
That gear selector area looks like it was designed to be an intentional waste of space.
Strange such an expensive car offers only gray and black interiors.

Takes some courage to get one of these with the brand's stigma and all
But it does look good tho

You can use the shifters with the transmission in S mode as in all JLR products
I think the fx35 inspired the shape of this RR
Have been a subscriber to Car and Driver since 1997. What ever happened to Webster?..T.

Hi Topher👋
🏆👑 RANGE ROVER 👑🏆
That gear shift is a comical waste of space!!
5:34 LOL A NISSAN KICKS HAS A 360 CAM
of course nobody has anything to say about it, because it spends most of its time at the service center not on the roads.
😂 My lancer has a 360 camera with my car image lol

The funniest thing is that it was unreliable under BMW and Ford ownership. Tata has improved the reliability hugely.
Idk…the power steering went out immediately after filming this. But then it came back!

Ah yes, the cheap, enshittification of consumer goods continues while prices continue to rise.
Still gonna buy Cadillac. Man, I absolutely love the way they handle and the performance they provide.
Yes but i dont have it
Interior gives ford Taurus vibes. That center console bugs me too, so much wasted space
whats the argument for this over an x5 lmao

What's the deal with so many bots?
Why would anyone buy this unreliable brand for $20k more than a fully loaded Hyundai that has 3x the warranty?
The irony
Because people want status symbols. That’s something that a Hyundai simply will not provide.
Looks better to some people. Holds its value well (in the UK). Drives well
these expensive car brands are simply a tax write off for the rich. Only peasants don't understand that.
