When’s ur first exam? If you have a bit of time atleast do 3 years of past papers and don’t just quit, if not then go through videos and look at topics you don’t know about, even if you’re not able to cover everything do some topics so that atleast you’re able to pass.
English is a joke. I'm at a grade 5 level right now and I did a practice paper 2 question 3 in school today and got 11/12 (grade 9 level) for the first time. The only thing I did differently is use fancy adjectives and waffle on about the question. Truly a struggle.
Any advice on gaining better understanding of texts efficiently in literature? I'm a grade 8/9 student and just struggle to solidify key concepts/themes; almost feel like a lot of my revision is wasted.
watch summary videos to learn the plot, then read analysis online to get a range of interpretations and perspectives that you can mention in your essays; maybe make a note of these in a document. also, watch my video on english literature if you haven't already
there’s a model literature answer in the description of my literature video, and these are some great english lang model answers online: just search “english language paper _ grade 9 model answers”
Hey dude, I’m new to the UK but my class isn’t overly competitive for the most part where I am and only people that really are aren’t willing to speak to me- I really wanna know how hard you revised for your English love and relationship poem- people say going over everything briefly which I don’t understand how brief they want say 4-6 quotes per poem with analysis using FOSSE? Also how do FOSSE comparisons look like- and how much do you believe I should revise for a 9? Thank you
Hi, for poetry i did a lot of annotations and made resources like mindmaps and lists of key messages. 4-6 good quotes per poem with analysis is great. i didnt use a specific structure like FOSSE to analysis quotes, and instead covered: 1. language techniques 2. form/structure (if applicable) 3. message/effect 4. context (if applicable) there’s no one-size-fits-all amount of revision to do-its as much as you need to get to a high enough level of writing. hopefully this helps :)
How did you plan your revision at this time when you were doing your gcses so that you actually finished going over content for everything? I'm finding it difficult to go over content for paper 2s whilst also focussing on the upcoming papers
Literally just do paper 2's or watch people go through a paper 2 on youtube(some people do content like that, really useful), and just do paper after paper until you have some understanding of mark scheme(very hard but achievable with a few hours of study everyday for at least 3-4 days)
hey! i had a question about eng language. For eng language question 4, i study for it by planning for thoughts and feelings. however the question isn’t always that. i’m quite scared that ill go into the exam and not be able to answer the question properly. How can i practice to ensure that that doesnt happen ? Thank you!!
create brief practice plans for the questions that aren’t on thoughts and feelings. whatever the question is, focus on creating an overall argument with different perspectives (for/against the statement).
Was wondering if I could ask a question I’ve made too many notes to be honest. I did them in flashcards form on Anki and while a lot of them are genuine flashcards, some of them are just bullet points of notes in flashcards form A lot of them are kinda useless but thats not really a huge problem now as I made them in the past and there’s nothing I can do about it. I made about 1000 per sciences (including computing) and about 500 for the English’s and 500 for history. The point is. I have way too many to review in 13 days. I think What I’m doing at the moment is doing past papers but having my flashcards/notes up in-front of me. Like an open book test. However I haven’t done this for long enough to test if this is effective, and I don’t really have the time too now What I wanna ask is, basically what do i do. I need to do past papers, I have all these notes sitting here. But I won’t be able to review them in 2 weeks (when my exams start). So what do I do
the flashcards are not wasted, theyre an excellent resource. use them as if they were your NOTES, rather than using the ‘review’ function on Anki. i did this for my gcses too, because there were sometimes too many cards to get through and Anki reviews take a while. using them as a resource to revise the content from is great, because they’re summarised and in your own words. good luck!

potentially yeah, apparently last year’s were pretty high. but dont worry too much about the boundaries because its difficult to predict them.

apart from referring to revision guides im not quite sure what else to do
Past paper questions and flashcards to check ur knowledge. Go over a topic do the flashcard and do ppqs on tht topic scraped an 8 w/ tht
exactly this
