You are correct about the video, the title refers to the Eleusinian mysteries which is all about mysticism and unknown rituals so i guess they were trying to channel that, pix lax dax is how they got rid of the uninitiated, with kicks, punches and bits!
I've been listening to RC for over five years or so. They have a specific sound you have to appreciate. This song is very reminiscent of that. Not sure how they used to sound like, but the more recent stuff is pretty good.
Recomendation for Rotting Christ : listen to "After Dark I Feel" from "Sleep of the Angels" album (all this album is an - underated af - unrepeatable masterpiece and one of the best metal records ever recorded in any metal genre). It is difficult to pick one song, from R.C, they have so many great metal songs. "A dead poem" album also is great (some consider this as their best album. I think is their second best). "Khronos" and "Triarchy of the Lost Lovers" (all their older albums in general are masterpieces. Until "Genesis" album. The last solo album of Sakis - the vocalist and main composer of the band - also is very good. Sakis Tolis - "Among the fires of Hell" it is called)
This album is so cinematic. It's been divisive among fans. I personally really enjoy it. Definitely not a black metal album. They have found a certain sound on their last few albums, whereas their earlier records are more black metal oriented. They are definitely worth a deep dive. If you like this kind of stuff, I would recommend listening to tracks from the album Non Servium and after. But really, they are worth a deep dive on their whole career. They have a lot of chanting, traditional instruments, great riffs and some killer guest vocals.
Welcome to Rotting Christ Legions! As a collaborator of the band, i suggested you to start with Pro Xristou album, Heretics, Rituals. 35 years of discography with various styles awaits for you to discover🤘
Listen to "a dead poem" "sleep of the angels", "triarchy of the lost lovers" , "khronos" and "genesis" ("khronos" needs some hearings - it is not a so "easy listening" - but it is a masterpiece as the other ones i wrote here). It depends also from your personal taste, maybe the newer stuff likes you more but are not better. Also the last solo album of the composer / vocalist of the band is good. Check also Septic Flesh (another great metal band from Greece)
I've been listening since 1995. I suggest a Dead Poem, Sleep of the Angels, Triarchy of the lost lovers. Then Theogonia, it means gods creation, Aealo, Kata ton demona eautou, it's ancient greek and translates to "following your inner demon/spirit". My personal favourite is The Heretics. The song you listened is the method the initiated of the Eleusinian Mysteries, one of the most famous of the secret religious rites of ancient Greece, used to kick out non initiated people. It means Pyx - with fists, Lax - with kicks and Dax- with bites. Lastly give Sakis personal album Among the fires of hell a listen, he released it as a gift through Greek metal hammer during the pandemic.
I've listened to RC since around 1997 and like an idiot I stopped listening after Sakis left. This is literally the first time I've listened to their new stuff and I had to pause it after 2 minutes as the feels were coming back and I feel ashamed I left them in the past. Great great band.
I think you have to divide their sound in the decades. Songs like: Non serviam, the fourth knight of revelation, the fourty illusion ,a sample of their beginning. Then "a dead poem" and "theogonia" albums start to change their sound. Those latest albums , "The heretics" and "pro hristou" i think its their final form, as the lead singer said they are not really into go back to their Black sound.

Pix Lax Dax is ancient greek (Πυξ Λαξ Δαξ). That means by punching, kicking, biting. And RC are awesome 😎

I've been listening since 1995. The latest album really reminds me of the album Dead Poem, give it a go.
I like the older stuff, as well as the new stuff. But they are in different Playlist's...say's nuff!
🤘🏻😁

That was really good! New band for me too. Hoping someone who knows them can share some information and recommendations.

If you like melodic stuff, i suggest you to listen 'demonon vrosis' from them.

When did sakis left rotting Christ??I thought he and his brother Themis created the band!!
Masterpiece! You should react to "666". Another masterpiece. :)
