It's the power behind his pick strokes that amazes me. He seems to push through the strings rather than pick them (if you see what I mean)) - there's a lot of sideways displacement of the strings when he hits them.
Ton of great ideas for guitarists of every skill level to chew on. Trey is one of the best guitarists alive and it’s great hearing him break down his and Doc’s techniques/styles so clearly.
This guy's the real deal, and I was 'today years old' when I heard of him. I'll definitely look into his work. Doc was an absolute MASTER of his craft, and got away with a lot as a result (a lot of flatpicking traditionalists would scoff if a regular guy did some of his 'tricks'). I'm very lucky to have seen him live before he left us, but very unlucky to have been born too late to have seen him dozens more. GREAT playing.
Definition of smoothness, there you go. So much respect for you Mr. Trey! If you don’t mind me asking, can I ask what microphone that is? Thanks in advance🙏
This isn’t my guitar - it is set up with light gauge strings and a low action. My normal set up would be with a guitar with higher action and medium gauge strings. (I love the way this guitar sounds, by the way…and if I owned it, I would have it set up with my preferences.)
So you play actual 'flat picking' as your pick is flat to the string. Other players say to 20 degree angle the pick which never worked for me thanks for that INVALUABLE info however I do George Shuffler/Clarence White tech index and thumb move ONLY no wrist
Click on the 'cog wheel' icon at the bottom of the screen to change the playback speed so that you can learn a lick or two. It'll stay up to pitch despite being slower. Have fun!
Thanks, y’all! This was a lot of fun! Reverb rules.
your playing is amazing! Thank you for sharing your wisdom
Great stuff Trey👍👍
Awesome flat picking!
ARE YOU KIDDIN? You RULE BRO! ❤❤
Flipping incredible.....
Insane right hand technique and incredibly musical, one of the best!

Couldn’t love a video more. Man does Trey do an incredible job denoting the master.
The best flatpicker alive today? One can definitely make the argument.
Yes I think he is man ❤
Billy is pretty good too
@@Hotshoe333 I agree!
Brilliant reporting, Andy! Back to you, Chet!
Now if he can write but sing while playing then he’s as good as Billy. I don’t see that. Billy and Marcus are the best for those reasons.
Thank you for finally uploading in 2160p
Thanks for posting this, love this tune.
If I could do 0.5 percent of that in flatpicking I'd be cool. What an inspiration. These young guys are motivating many
I want to see this guy play wildwood flower or some Clarence white tunes. Killer picking!

Tried to watch this for a lesson first day back on a guitar...well...I did watch the video...haha 🤣🤣🤣

Amazing
Ha ha! Sitting here laughing, thinking f off. Incredible. Thanks.
Trey, love this picking. What Martin model is that you are playing? Looks

Nobody ever says what this tune is called? Edit : my bad I see the subtitle now.

So much fret buzz in his stings, is that by choice?

Congratulations (first) on your amazing and incredible achievement.
Nice, but doesn't teach me how to play the song.
