Yes, it makes it harder to read without pausing, but I just felt that leaving them on the screen for much longer would be too distracting. I've split up sentences in smaller parts this time to make the translation feel a bit more "alive". If you expect you can take 5 seconds to read the note and focus on that, you'd probably miss some text relevant for the story. So the notes are shorter, in the hope that you'll pause for them if you are interested!
