Although my post workout is whey and casein with peanut butter a banana and a shot of honey for my glycogen boost...I workout at night and this is basically my last meal
My wife was diagnosed with lactose intolerance when she was a child, but in the past couple of years found out she's actually allergic to lactose and the worst thing that triggers her responses is yogurt. Maybe it varies from person to person or maybe it's the fact that she's allergic rather than intolerant, but she can't manage any yogurt without some kind of response, whereas she can consume small amounts of cheese as long as it's not too often. Also as far as protein shakes only tasting like milkshakes to people who have been doing fitness for a while, I'd agree to some extent. Most times I try other members of my family on a flavour that I think tastes great, they seem far less impressed than I do. That said, I make a smoothie with whey, milk, fat free greek yogurt, peanut butter, oats and frozen strawberries and all non fitness people that have sampled it seem to think that tastes good, so, like you said, chuck enough carbs and fat in there and you're good to go.
What about mix of whey and casein? I mix my whey protein with milk to get whey and casein together. As far as I know human body starts using protein around an hour after consumption no matter if it's whey or casein. Whey just has a bigger spike in the beginning and after 3-4 hours it's gone. On the other hand casein has smaller spike 1 hour after consumption but lasts for 7-8 hours.
I’d say every day if you are working out around 4-5 times a week because the muscle still needs a couple days after the workout to repair the micro tears.
nailbomb3 it’s lactose based and if you have any sensitivity towards lactose based foods/liquids then yes it can affect the state of GERD and cause inflammation. And at night most likely it would be elevated to a worsened state because the body doesn’t digest lactose well when the stomach and digestive tracts slow down processing throughout the night.
Cottage Cheese is a great Casein protein option Jordan! Mike recommends it for anyone who wants to change it up vs. just taking a supplement version of casein.
Calorie deficit is key for weightloss but if the casein shake fits in the alloted deficit then yes its great pre bed. But never forget meal timing or quality are small parts pf the success. Main 2 parts are: calories and right macronutrient amounts. These 2 done well and u have 80% of all possible success covered
Morning shake - Whey & Casein mix , Post Workout Shake - Whey , Evening Shake - Casein Shake
Shake shake shake
That's my routine exactly

Those are way too many shakes imo. I try to get most of my protein through whole foods during the day, then a shake at night.
LOL Mikes voice has lowered a lot over the years. Trenning hard
My purpose for wanting to use casein is exactly what you said about being at work. Thank you for the information 👌🏽 protein pudding sounds 🔥🔥 too
Casein breaks down into thousands of different bioactive peptides that specifically signal growth.

Great thanks for info
Besides the calcium and protein what other vitamins and minerals is casein protein rich in?
Blast from the past, good video. Glad Dr. Mike doesnt sounds like a little boy anymore
Can I add banana, peanut butter oats and ice cream with the casein
Is this stuff good for "Muscle Wasting"?
Idk about those light colored shorts
So hard to find a video that isn’t whey vs casein.
What about glutamine before sleep
Should you take this every night or just on workout days?
Important after workout days but morr maintenance other nights

is Casein more likely to cause GERD at night?

Casein is very bad for your stomach!
what about cottage cheese?

Oh cool, I did suspect that, was surprised he didn't mention it in the video.
Cheers!

You haven’t lived until you have had yoghurt from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Why take casein, just use regular milk protein when is 80% casein anyway.
Best shake
Your casein
A mega spoon (the ones spaghetti is served)
A banana
Vanilla extract
Blend buuda
Budda BOOM
Is casein also great for losing weight? Like taking it before bed as a meal replacement?
