- A ride on my rails from an engineer's perspective. On the other track there is a MTH UP Challenger with a mixed freight. The camera is mounted on a flat car that is quite noisy unfortunately. Hope you enjoy anyway! Total track length with all sidings is 950 feet (290m), one round on the mainline is approx. 240 feet (72m).
I am cancer patient and you make my life better THANK YOU
Imagine cutting holes in the wall through just for a nonpermanent setup of tracks strewn across the floor.
This is incredible! Somebody is very lucky to have a lot of money to put this in their house. Absolutely fantastic.
I love your G scale videos and cannot wait to see you new layout. The creativeness in your switching through rooms, into holes in the walls, and around furniture is fun to watch and inspiring. I started a small indoor project. Thank you and please continue sharing. Cheers.
Simply amazing. You are an amazing train collector and I enjoyed every second of that train ride. Thank you kindly.
This is terrific - all people should live like this for a time. Get some fun into life. This has really lightened the load for today. Thank you.
Great video! I love the layout, love the house, and love all the trains. Simply brilliant design. Thanks for sharing, cheers.
Thanks for the ride. I feel like I owe someone some money for that. That was really enjoyable, nice of you to share your nice setup with the world.
I love that layout and all the design work that went into it. Great camera work and a cool video too.
That's the most incredible indoor G-scale layout I've ever seen. That looks like about $20,000 worth of model trains, if not more.
I notice that you were running smoke indoors. Doesn't that stink up the house? Or is there some kind of smoke fluid that I'm not aware of which does not have an odor to it?
I am now immediately heading over to your video library to see what other interesting videos you've posted over the years.
It's a spliff delivery system, trust me ;).
It's just water vapour. Same as used in regular fog machines that people use indoors all the time. Stop over pay for "smoke" fluid and just the same fog machine fluid for less.
omg
WOW What a house and what a layout...greetings from London UK
The trains where purchased mainly from three sources: 2 retailers in Germany, ebay and RLD Hobbies in the US. Importing them directly from the States is a bit cheaper if you buy 4 cars at once as shipping costs (typically $ 95 per package ) distribute on 4 then. Ebay is sometimes fine, sometimes they sell garbage as new. So saving here possibly comes at a cost. I've been collecting G scale for 2 years and am running out of space now. ;)
Fantastic. I thought my place was infested with G scale trains, I have a good many old style electric MU sets I've converted from Bachmann Jackson and Sharp passenger cars, but this.. Great stuff. I was going to dismantle my setup when I married, but my wife wouldn't hear of it ! She enjoys the old MU electrics I run and the odd steamer. One of our grandsons is fanatical about trains too. In the kitchen is an OO/HO elevated setup. I worked on the old electric trains on British Railways, happy days. I was sad to see them go. Retired now, thankfully, all souless modern computer controlled junk where I was...
The challenger is awesome pulling freight like its suppose too!
Though I've watched this film several times now my jaw still drops. Thank you for showing it!
The product of a creatively deranged mind. I salute you, sir. I LOVE this!
Deranged sounds quite sincere. Can it ever be cured? But admittedly it's way off the norm to lay down some 900ft of track in a flat. Not to care too much about any norm has always been my problem. ;-) And as I'm hooked to trains since my early childhood... no, there isn't any cure! I salute you back, Sir.
@@qora01m Certainly a word I used without an intent to offend. , but rather as a compliment. I have a fair spectrum of enjoyable derangements of my own to deal with. lol I loved the video! The overall effect, made possible in good part by the smoke, is this constant toggling back and forth between the illusion of "real" railroading and the actuality -- kind of like an M.C. Escher drawing on tracks!
This is so amazing... spot on. It would be my privilege to buy you a beer.
We've never met, but your a man after my own heart!!!
I've seen a lot of videos running G scale but there is something very interesting about this one, the size of it, the layout that I assembled in my head while watching the train run, all the switches, the various trains running, that its on the floor with all the furniture, going through the wall, I like it, I temporarily do a layout at Christmas time for about a month or so that runs through my den, dinning room, living room and sometimes sunroom its a pretty long run. Thank You, very enjoyable
Great. Keep me posted. I can never afford this but through you... I can afford it all. Thank you so very much.
MARK that is why I upload these videos. Glad you enjoyed it!
One of the coolest things I've ever seen.. thank you so much that was awsome & incredible hard work putting that together
I Wish i was allowed to set up a track around the house like your awesome one!
I would pay good money to see this in person!!
Oh my good god!!! This is awesome!!!!! Sir, you have inspired me!!! Who needs sofas, tables even walls when i can have this running around all the time!! :))) I love this vid!!
WOW...what a great layout...I'm so jealous...thanks for sharing
Talk about an engineering model....
Well done, Dude!
Clifford Keefe
You must not be married, or have children. I'm jealous of your set up. Awesome.
I have a wife and a son of 12 years. Sadly he's not interested in trains. Ah yes... and wiping the floor is my duty. ;)
Honey...could I put a few holes in the wall..why? Oh for a railroad! Wonderful vid and awesome layout of course!
Great indoor action! Thanks for sharing! I'm envious!
Nice apartment....and that's a bachelor... nice touch drilling holes in the walls...LOL.. that's dedication!
Believe it or not... but not a bachelor ;)
I kept the stones I took out of the walls, so that I can easily close them again once I move on to a house (with big garden).
When u said that u were going to move out, I was wondering about the holes in the walls. U just answered my question......lol.. Thanks! Beautiful layout. Do u miss this penthouse?
As it runs through the kitchen also the continuous replenishment shouldn't be a problem... ;)
love your union pacific bigboy and your diesiel one too.
@MrDave6475 Hi there! The smoke generator in the Challenger is factory built and smokes quite well. So I didn't change anything. Those generators all have the same principle. Current trough a resistor that heats up. Fiber glas wick around it that transports the oil to the point of heat. There it evapourates. A fan blows it through the stack. What voltage are you using?
that is so fantastic great set up and I am a up fan although all trains interest me world wide
Ti kteří jste nejeli dlouho vlakem,máte jedinečnou možnost nyní.Cestou se podívejte jak je to vymakaný.Přeji pěkný zážitek.
If I layed out my railroad in our home along with cutting holes in the walls etc. I would be sleeping with the dog out in the yard. How did you convince your wife, or is there a 2 ft by 6 ft mound of fresh dirt in the back yard?
I’m also building a multi-room floor layout in my home here in the U.S. in O-scale for likely similar reasons; I want my trains in my space with me- not a designated room. I’m inspired by what you’ve done here. Hiding wires is difficult!
absolutely fantastic can you tell me the name of the Railroad that you use tracks and engines I am from England but I've never ever seen anything like this before a really fantastic job thank you for sharing it with us are all your engines and rolling stock are they made in the USA
+Peter Stanford Hi Peter, brands are USA TRAINS and Aristocraft. A little bit of LGB and some AML. All manufactured in China and bought from the US. Shipping is a bit costly but prices in Europe still justify buying in US.
Oh you must haven't seen trains without buffers, their called American engines
That is very impressive...! Well done!
That was fun to watch. Thanks for sharing. I gotta say though, at 9:20, I saw that the switch was set correctly, but still, I had a brief "oh no, the trains are gonna hit" moment. LOL
I got a G Scale Train myself. Battery operated. I'm looking forward to operate my train soon. I don't mind the noisy track. It sounds great :D
Nice. Thank you for posting this and nice trains you got there.
My wife says that this must be a Batchelor's Pad?
Thanks a lot! In the meantime it has grown a bit and some switches were added. I'll make a new video soon...
It's a loft, yes. It's somewhere in Bavaria, Germany.
Ah ha! And I was told they demolished the Berghof!
The wife must be out of town
AuECS v
Great Railway
Buried in the side yard, under a field of corn, with that boyfriend of hers too.
Yes, crossing gates... many people are really afraid of stepping on the tracks although it wouldn't cause damage at all (if it's not a switch). But the railroad has become some kind of attraction an almost no (male) guest who wouldn't ask for a little demonstration. Friend's kids could spend the whole afternoon watching anyway.
Das freut mich! Grundsätzlich ist es als eine gewisse Form der Entspannung zu sehen, seinen Zügen beim Ziehen iher Kreise zuzusehen. Oder eben denen der anderen auf youtube. Deine Digitalisierungen finde ich richtig gut by the way...
I'm overwhelmed! Can't wait to send this to my B.I.L.
This is absolutely amazing. Thanks for the video.
What a great layout, and all that great locos and stock you have, I would love to get my hands on some MTH stock over here in England, I have a MTH UP Dash 8, and a MTH grey challenger, how have you got yours to smoke that much, as mine only smokes a little ( the fan does work and not blocked. great trains again.
This G Scale is my Absolute one of my favorite eva!! I created in a simulator hope the owner don't mind sharing it. It's similar to this route! I'm hoping to have it on my G scale too!
Great apartment! Oh, and the trains are cool too.
@challenger3999 Thanks for the comment! It took some time to build it and it was, as it extends to the whole flat, never intended to be permanent. But in the meantime tracks have been laying there for 20 months...
You must have the most wonderful wife in the whole history of mankind!
I'll tell her! ;)
Great Layouts
wow. cool layout and cool home.
Sweet video, it was a fun ride!
A nice layout in a nice flat!
I did the same thing when my wife was away for the weekend. Soon as I got it set up she came home early. Bummer.
Stupid bitches always being home when they not sposed to be.
Lol. This stuff must really be exciting, cause people are willing to make holes in their houses for it :3
I am very impressed! Could you show the controller. I would like to see how you set up and verify the route.
Marry Ellen That's a Lot of work one time and 3 buttons afterwards. With Digitrax you can make one locomotive the master for others. This you need wen you like to have more than one engine hauling a train jointly. Same way you can do with switches. One switches master can have up to seven slaves. And the slaves can be master for others again. You just program the position of each slave which represents a switch on your route and you can operate the whole route by throwing the one master switch. That easy. Setting up the routes though takes hours if you exhaust their maximum number of 32.
That's quite a layout for indoor G-scale on the floor. Very impressive!!
You Look like you are in Europe.... Your style of cabinets, electrical outlets, and light switches rug-less floors are all very European.....
Meticulously spotted! It's in Bavaria, Germany. Rug-less because of the hairs a carpet tends to spread in the room. Which are then picked up by the trains' wheels.
qora01m
I only mentioned the rug thing because my sister lives in France (out side Rambouillet, near Paris) and everything I mentioned is from what I learned from going over there. She said they don't have Rugs in France because they consider them "dirty or unhealthy" So they have concrete or hardwood or tile flooring. Thanks for reply and great looking collection!
@ohiosouthern Thanks for the comment! I appreciate it a lot when people have fun with my trains via video.
The challenger is UP 3977. In its gray version.
Excellent layout.
Do you have a paper plan of this layout? {sketch} I think it is great for featuring the train on the outer track for the camera train. Very good action video. This could be translated to outdoor garden layout.
Wow!! This is amazing!! Has to be my dream house haha!!
Very cool!! You have a wonderful layout! :-)
it's no longer there. I moved house. By the time I moved out few months ago it had grown quite a bit compared to this. But there will be something new. In the garden. Some 3000 feet of track are waiting to be laid down.
how much mony was the layout
in general in Europe Aristo or USA trains is up to twice as much as in the US. Mostly due to shipping cost and taxes. A total I don't want to tell, but it's a lot.
Well, I'm glad to hear from you it's been a long time since you posted a video, I hope to see one soon from your new garden ;)
jereffuse that unfortunately will take some more months still. But it will come for sure.
i want buy that layout so plz tell how can i buy it
Cutting holes through walls…..that’s dedication to a hobby!
I am sure you take care where you put your feet. But when you invite friends, how do you manage them not stepping on the tracks? Not easy especially when sitting around the living room table (see at 9:08). Great network btw. Congratulations!
Most of my friends are so excited because of the railway that they kind of automatically pay attention. Wen sitting at the table though I let them sit at the inner side. That's safer. Btw. you can step onto the rails without breaking them.
+qora01m will you add signal lights to make it better?
@bowser621 Where did I get what? The Challenger?
@ohiosouthern Fine! I appreciate it when people enjoy my trains as I do! I will set up a new video soon with more train action like some runbys and overtaking.
Love the realistic Chuffing sound
Wonderfull train love watching these videoes
@qora01m Hi there, I am using a LGB JUMBO 10amp, up to 24 volts, I think that I might have to replace the resistors in the generators.
Regards Dave
Amazing track, love it!
Magnifique!
Pas de décors inutiles!
Is this your house if it is its a cool lay out
I really enjoyed this. Nice home, btw. :)
It is similar to my MTH controller as to engine (lash up) set up. I designate head, middle(s) and end engine. Then only the lead engine lights up.
As for the track switches. Do you walk through the route and designate, TS1 r/l, TS2 r/l, etc, etc. controlled by pushing button (1)?
You can get someone to put food or a drink on a train then bring it to you with the train.
...;) Modell railroading doesn't exclude marriage. You just have to search longer to find the right one. And of course you should provide some possitive differentiators to compensate for this dissadvantage (seen from a woman's few). And in my case I'm the one to clean the floor for shure! ;)
Are you using DC or DCC? 10Amp and 24V are anyway enough by far. I use 18V and 15Amp Boosters with a Digitrax DCC system.
Regards
Frank
If I have a steam train and the steam train was pulling intermodal flat car. How make many intermodal flat car.
Very good.
Where in Germany do you live?
sehr gut
Wo lebst Du in Deutschland
who are the manufacturer's of the diesel locomotives and rolling stock?
Thanks for posting this video. For some reason I find your RR more interesting visually as compared to the many outdoor G scale RRs. Maybe it's because I have a similar indoor setting with its retraints. I certainly envy you your rolling stock. (How many cars and locos do you have?) In addition, I cannot imagine how much work went into creating the various roadbeds. Again, thanks for sharing.
You're welcome! The rolling stock increased since this video was shot. Currently it's some 52 Locos and about 380 cars. The track has improved a lot. Various diamond crossings, curved switches provide more flexibility and a smoother ride now.
that's a lot of switches bro
I so want a train set like this.
Tense moment @ 9:23. ; ] This is cool. What country? Penthouse apartment? You must do well financially. More power to ya! Nice place and awesome layout. Smartly done with all those switches. I just saw below that you moved from there. The video is just over six years old as I write this on July 9th, 2017. I'm subscribing. You can never take the railfan and model railroad buff of the youngster out of the supposed adult. ; ]
Hi there,
railway will move outside into the garden. The house I moved to has a very nice and also large garden. At the moment I'm just building the future main station: 30m long and 4m wide. Will post some pictures this autumn.
You are totally crazy and I love your crazyness ;))))))
is there somewhere you can post a track plan? size of your house?
Very cool, now do one featuring the Big Boy. I live in Cheyenne Wyoming, and the 4014 Big Boy has been brought into Cheyenne for full restoration to running order. Should take three to five years. Anyways, well done, well done!
Hey there,
I will definitely come over to the States to see 4014 once they finished the job at Cheyenne. Meanwhile I have to stick to the small one. Video will come this year!
qora01m I will keep you informed on when it is finished and up and running.
The tracks take over the home!!!
Haha, saw the electrical outlets, and I'm like "oooh, German"!
Viel Spass! Gruss Gott aus USA!
Matt Redman Netherlands also uses these and Belgium and Luxembourg and Austria and so on
WOW Great layout. What brand of track and code(looks like332) are you using? what locos do you like better MTH or USA Trains? Thanks for the videos , Pete
Is this a permanent layout? Cause if it is, that's pretty hardcore having all this in the walkways and doorways of your house.
Your obviously not married...lol That must be $25k USD or more in rolling stock alone. Awesome!
were do you get the trains
i have an mth o scale dash 8 that i use for 3 rail but it can be switched into 2-rail mode so can i run it on a g-scale track? Please reply :D
