The one time I made it to see them I was ill and had to sit at the back rather than dancing, gutted I never made it to see them again. I live in hopes of another concert though!
I reckon the band will be back before long. They are this generation's Fairport Convention - they split up several times and came back with different members and I bet this will happen with Bellowhead
+Lyddie J. Hall I hope you are right. The difficulty is that John Boden has so many other musical interests and projects that much will depend on how those go. Also there is a genuine issue of child-care! Between them they have so many children now that the simple logistics of organising the band around family requirements is, I am led to believe, proving increasingly difficult......Nothing like as good as the live experience but we can be thankful we have You Tube to keep this talent in our minds!
John Locke is right. I discussed this with Benji and Paul a couple of years back and they said the logistics are a nightmare. Having said that, Covid has put a severe dent in musicians earnings and if they really enjoyed the December virtual concert, there's hope!
Im a huge fan of pearl jam and bellowhead and although the music is completely different, what they share in common is complete and shear enjoyment of performing and it shows! :)
This is going to sound weird, but the sound of the song makes me think it should be played in the soundtrack of an animated anthropomorphic animals movie. (I'm referring to the way the tune sounds, the lyrics are irrelevant to this statement). Love it.
Many years ago, Steeleye Span introduced electricity into folk music. Bellowhead are following the tradition. Great. But they will achieve Steeleye greatness when they have a singer with the same delight (and skill of course!) of Maddy Prior to relieve the folk singers' seriousness.
It's great to see musicians performing with such joy and having fun on stage!
Roll on November - the boys are back and I cannot wait!!!!!
I shall always regret not having got to one of their gigs, looked like everyone had a great time
