  • Hi guys, I wanted to share with alllll of my tips and ticks for the diagonal clove hitch knot AND how to create perfect rows of them as well. Please watch the whole way through as I give a lot of useful information throughout.
I used 3.5mm, 3 strand rope from Ganxxet.
For the purpose of this tutorial I cut my rope to 1meter/3 feet, just to demonstrate.

I must have watched 15 videos on this knot but it didn’t click with me until I saw your video. It was how you explained that you hold the “leading” cord and knot with the others. TY

So if you find one you like and it is too fast, just tap your screen (on phone) and 3 dots show up on the right hand side, if you tap them it will show you where to adjust the playback speed! ❤️

Until I watched this video I was convinced this knot was intentionally created to drive me insane. Thank you for demonstrating the subtleties ie: pushing back when tightening. This knot and others aren't that difficult to do, it's keeping them under control that causes me the most problems. Just started doing macrame tapestries and kept thinking "hmm the right side never looks as good," so I laughed when you saidthat it's just the way it is. hahahaha.

Haha ! Well, I’ve come to that conclusion after probably making 10s of thousands of them and decided that’s just the way it is rather than torture myself! 🤣 So happy it gave you a laugh!❤️

I’m a new sub...this looks so fun thank you! It’s been a LONG time since I’ve done any macrame but I am planning on it again, and I definitely will be watching your videos...you make it seem easy👍 Do you have any plant hanger or videos geared for beginners?

Aww thanks so much! If you go to my video for the “10 minute macrame planthanger “ it’s slow and step by step, great for beginners! I have a playlist with a few plant hangers too:)

Have seen other videos ,in some videos it's shown you go first behind the filler rope then the second in front....
This is throughout in front its easier thanks soo much

It is definitely tricky at first! I feel the same way about the type of cord, it can definitely make it much easier OR much more difficult!

Best video ever!! I'll try doing this again. Do you know what I was doing wrong here: when I finished my row of knots, they were in waves... they were perfectly horizontal but the waves were in and out towards me (I don't know how to explain it, I wish I could send a picture)

It sounds like the tightness of your knots were inconsistent. As you go, try to watch each knot you place and double check it’s about as tight as the knot before it. :) Let me know if that helps!

I had a question, are you able to make a diagonal clove hitch knot with two 'guide' or 'base' ropes? Thank you for the tutorial, it is incredibly helpful! To be clearer, the instuction for my craft reads, "Hold the 2 cords on the far left together. Use these as the "base cord," and tie Diagonal Clove Hitches around them with each cord hanging down, as shown."

Hi Grace, I know exactly what you mean. And yes, you sure can! Although I feel it only works well when using a single strand cord, it is smooth that way with no lumps. I do have a tutorial that shows how I did this method around a heart if you’d like to see? It is a small heart tutorial, it’s red on the thumbnail. ♥️
