keep guard on, but I do understand why not. they are removable so I guess in certain situations you may choose to take it off and others put it on. I use a 25cc MTD made trimmer with 0.080 Commercial grade line for residential purposes. after a while you get use to the guard. Also if you use a 0.080 line vs 0.095 you maybe able to run a longer line because the lighter weight line puts less strain on the engine
As a lawn care professional, I would like to give my opinion on the subject. I removed the Guards off of all of my string trimmers this season. I have a little over 100 properties I maintain. I will tell you I agree with everything in this video. The visibility is great and that little bit of extra line is awesome too. But with the pros comes the cons. We had a few string trimmers this year get damaged due to the string getting let out too far. Had I had the guard on the string trimmers it could have been prevented. I will film a video discussing this topic more in depth! Awesome video!! Very informative!!
Im not a pro and don't own a robust pro grade trimmer that can withstand abuse. Also dont have a lot of money to keep buying trimmers that crap out prematurely because I removed the guard and shortened the life of the trimmer.
I don't remove it. You covered ever pro and con . I like it on helps me keep my lines at the right length and I can judge my cut. Put the pro series trimmers have a smaller gard. . It dos look cooler with it off.. 😎
The Guard Is there to do two things one is to cut the cord at a certain length, Because if it is too long the motor will struggle to run correctly and the second reason why you should have a guard on your weed whacker is to protect yourself from flying debris But if you like flying debris hitting you in the nuts then take off the guard :-) no sympathy for stupidity
trimmer gard is crap when cutting brush it just gets caught up so remove it. the only reason the gard is on there is to hold the line cutter. you should be wearing a face sheld s a must when useing a strimmer no matter what
Leave mine on to prevent me from getting hit by debris as much as possible!

#HipaYTGiveaway. I still, after all these years, keep the guard on. I personally don’t like all that crap smacking me

Company should just design a simplified slim “line cutter guard”.
To me, the only value of the guard is the line cutter.
It's a bad idea
