Without a guard, if your line pops out to long, it's more wear and tear on the head and other internal parts, from what I understand. I got my Aunts old weed wacker and last year the guard broke off. I only cut my own grass and I walk my yard before cutting and it's never long enough to throw anything. The weed wacker is like 10 years old and it a small 2 stroke, so it's probably on it's last year or so. I will be replacing the weed wacker soon anyways, so I am not using a guard currently, but I would use the guard, if it didn't break and I would replace it, if it wasn't so old and in the shape it's in. Otherwise I agree with you about always using a guard. I never understood why people said they can't use one with a guard. When I cut my parents grass, when they can't or my Aunts grass, they have guards and it doesn't effect my ability to trim and edge the grass.
Overall, all points are valid both ways BUT A TRUE PROFESSIONAL knows where the guard hands down destroys, I REPEAT.... DESTROYS the argument vs no guard is the CUT QUALITY .. i rather cut straight AND YES IT IS NOTICEABLe.. only amaterus or prideful guys will argue to death.. You can't beat a property edged with an edger, string trimmer with a guard then blown clean to be BAGGED ..ITS UNDEFEATED... I switched from many years from trimming with a guard off to a guard now with a husky and i cant go back.. again if you love what you do and want the best, hands down the guard wins.. and i would put my money on it hands down even edging a line with it is better than a no guard because how straighter it is..
if you think an extra 3 inches of line with a straight solid shaft puts "too much stress on the gearhead" all the while stihl sells edger, blade, and chainsaw tooth attachments... you're too far gone also talking about safety while there is not one image of you wearing anything other than cheap gas station sunglasses... you need to replace your machines with some echos
Echo was made for girls who couldn’t carry the weight of a real trimmer!! You’re sooo intelligent, that’s why in the Echo manual it states that the 5 year warranty is void if guard is taken off! Echo is for those who were born to lose and can’t afford a STIHL.
@@DiscoveringHisWay it's 100% a liability issue for safety. Also if there's any technical reason they can reasonably add to void the warranty and refuse free replacement they will. Welcome to big corp 101
Hey Try having a rock fly into your shin at 90 miles per hour with No Guard; just tell your self that it doesn’t hurt!
Even with the guard on many accidents happening! Recently a friend of mine broke 3 glasses part of a glass fence in a rented house 😅
