    First, thank you for your service to our Country. Thank you for these videos. I live in Fresno, I'm fascinated with the amount of small towns and settlements that were once all over this area. I have some old maps , old forestry maps that are interesting as they show things that modern maps tend to overlook. So , above North Fork there is Rock Creek camp and about ten minutes from camp there was, still maybe is. An old rusted car that wrecked from the 1930s I'm guessing , near that was an old dump that , when I was a kid you could pull old Coors cans etc out of. My dad did a little digging for old bottles, managed to find a big intact medicine bottle with the cap and liquid inside. I'm 55 now so that was years and years ago. Don't know if the dump is still there or not. Near the camp when I was a kid my brother and I were playing near the creek and I found all these little pieces of shiny back glass , obsidian my mom told me , from the native Americans that used to live or seasonally migrate around that area. I kept one piece that I still have and put the rest back. There's acorn holes in the rocks around there too. On a side note I saw a King Coral Snake when I was a kid there too. Which is interesting as there's no Coral Snakes at all anywhere in the state from what I know. So if you see this comment, I gotta ask if you've ever heard anything up in the hills that you couldn't identify. I don't want to get off track too far but we would camp up around Rock Creek , Mammoth , Eagle , those area a lot when I was younger. We would go , my entire side of my mom's family, my grandpa Reynolds was not the kind of guy that took an ounce of foolishness from anyone or anything. Old school Arkansas Irish to the bone. Anyway I remember waking up a few times at zero dark thirty and hearing loud "whooop!!" Sounds that scared the hell out of me , I remember my dad whispering harshly for us to "go back to sleep!". I heard years later that even my grandpa wouldn't talk about those noises . Nobody did , except my mom after I asked her, both my folks are gone now though. Anyway I Know what those noises were. So . I'll leave that there. Thanks again.

    I liked seeing that detecting was more than looking for Gold. It really captured imagination to see that detecting could also be looking into the past. Archaeology is a facet of detecting I haven't even considered. I'm saving my penneys for my 1st detector... thanks for sharing!

    Most of those areas in the mountains are all burned down in massive forest fires so you do have a chance at finding something good.

    Man, the bloopers are great. You should close every video with those, like some of the great comedy movies of the 80's.
    I just found your channel and I'm a bit disappointed... disappointed that I was able to watch all of them already and there's not 100 more. Keep them coming, they're great! Your knowledge is priceless and I thank you for sharing.
    I know you're not going to "strike it rich" with UA-cam vids, so as a token of gratitude, I'm heading to your eBay store to order a crevice tool right now.

      Whats your day job? I am a water well driller in the central California Valley, I wonder if bentonite drilling mud can lift gold dust out of a water well? or if gold could be trapped in clay that comes out (when I hit bedrock)? I need to get sluice box and check I guess.

    Gary: I appreciate these wonderful video's it brings back so many good memories of when mom my brothers Roy, Rey, and I would go out into the Kingman AZ. wilderness. I want to purchase a metal detector, I live in Cottonwood near Redding Ca. where and what type should I purchase for my first detector. I don't have a lot of strengthen in my upper arms so I need to have one lite weight. I thank you for your reply's.

    • @TwoToes
      @TwoToes  6 років тому +1

      Best thing you can do is find out if there is a detector club in your area. That way you can talk to different people, find out what detectors they are using. That way you can get some info thats not coming from a dealer.

      Most of the time I use a Cannon EOS 700D. My store was located in Biggs CA. but with all the new city and state regulations, I am closing it down and going internet sales only. I did a lot of sole searching, after 42 years it was a hard decision. But it will give me a lot more free time - to look for gold! Thank you for your support

    Also, All I've ever used were VLF detectors and want a pulse machine for relics and gold nugget hunting in clean areas. I don't want to spend a fortune because it won't get used near as much as my VLF machines due to most of the places I relic hunt being full,of iron but I still want one. Would the Garrrett ATX,Infinium,Whites TDI SL or something else be your choice. I know you have a TDI but don't know if you've tried something else you like better. Thanks!

    • @TwoToes
      @TwoToes  7 років тому

      In the area I do most my prospecting I have found the TDI works great for me. I have tried the Garrett, I could not get use to it. The Whites was much easer for me, I like the way it is set up. The best way is to find people in your area that prospect with a detector. See how they are doing and how they like there machine. Thanks - Gary

    • @livewithnick
      @livewithnick 7 років тому

      Two Toes thanks man. I'm in Alabama. Most people that prospects around here don't use detectors much. The few that do use vlf machines.

    • @TwoToes
      @TwoToes  8 років тому +2

      I was thinking about doing a video on just that! Here is the short version. First thing I do is find areas that produced gold. Then you look for a good flat area not far from where they were working. Then in those areas you look for where the ground and vegetation don't look natural. There is a lot more to it, but that is the condensed version. Thanks for the support.

Because the area your in doesn't seam to have that much gold in it.I know its not that your not a good prospector.

    Do you ever find burial sites or human remains?

    • @TwoToes
      @TwoToes  7 років тому +4

      With the gold miners, burial sites are not a problem, most are marked. When I go on a walk-about, that's where I just go out to new areas with out any set plan other than looking at new country. If there is evidence that native Californians were in the area, I take extra care where I dig. I did uncover a jaw bone, 30 (or so) years ago. It made me very uncomfortable and I quickly reburied it. In the next few months I did a lot of research on the Indians the lived in that area. I found out that there was a large village a couple miles away. I also discovered, out around the turn of the century there was a burial site uncovered in the area I was in. I would not like some one digging up my grandfather, so ever since I keep that thought in the back of my head when digging.
