Sluicing one ounce of gold. (High Banking, How long?)

  • Let me show you how long it takes to sluice or high bank one ounce of gold. In this video I demonstrate high banking on a good claim and show how long it would take to get one ounce of gold.
    I use a sluice powered by a water pump away from the river, known as a high banker. The ground here is good but no where near as good as the ground I used to demonstrate panning one ounce of gold. For gold panning I was able to be right at the river's edge, but because of rules here in British Columbia (BC) we can not discharge dirty water back into the river, so we have to have a settling pond away from the river. Thus I have to go to lesser ground for this demonstration of recovering one ounce of gold using a high banker sluice.
    For my high banker setup I am using gold owl mats. Supplied by Mark from Gold Stream Placer Supplies in Grand Prairie, BC. I made a couple mistakes in the sluice box setup where it went out of level for a bit. And I was running a high banker a bit too hot for a while with too much angle and too much water. But we still got good gold recovery in the highbanker mats.
    This video is produced by Dan Hurd, Prospector, Miner, Teacher and UA-camr, as part of his UA-cam channel based on educational videos about gold mining, gold panning, prospecting, rock hounding, and mineral collecting.

    We usually put a "stucco" mesh, which is an angled wire mesh, over the baffles to trap even more, plus an extended sluice run with moss here in the golden corner of S.Carolina.. It works well to knock down the flour increasing yield per yard of dirt

    For those that don't know, on your iPhone with the compass on the next page there is a gradient level. Good for field measuring and shot gunning for estimations. Although it's pretty accurate. Hope it helps, would be good for leveling your sluice boxes or highbankers without extra tools to haul

    Love your videos. Just started watching you about a week ago. You make my gold fever worse, lol. I'm from spokane Washington. I have had my best luck prospecting in Sullivan Creek (about 10 miles from the Canadian border). Best I have done there is 11.1 gs in 3 days (about 8 hours of actual work each day). I was high banking with my home made high banker with a 1 inch honda pump and 4 foot sluice (it can do a shovel full about every 20-45 seconds depending on material). I wish I had ground here as good as the ground is your videos. But anyway, good job, you keep me hopeful. Your channel is the first ive ever actually subscribed to. Love your attitude, and of coarse all the GOLD!

    Seriously. If you want to make the money to buy food and pay rent:
    1. Collect the gold by wet washer or dry washer or whatever method works on your claim
    2. Make the gold into jewelry and sample bottles like the little one ounce bottle Dan shows.
    3. Sell the samples and jewelry at 5 or 6 times spot price to the tourists.
    I have seen this done in Holcomb Valley Southern California and in Randsburg California and it was a very successful formula.
    Good luck all you prospectors.

Sharing the adventure was priceless beyond how much gold you obtained though I'm sure everyone loves seeing you achieve your goal in finding it, I certainly do. I am impressed by your knowledge and devotion of what you love to do I think most of us rock hounds appreciate the knowledge. It is, to me, interesting as to why people are so excited by gold it is a spiritual type of rock that is said to pave the streets of Heaven that we will one day walk on so it stands to reason that it stirs us like it does. It is speculation as to how gold came to our planet but stands to reason that God put it here as a reminder of things to come when we go back to Him. May you find all the gold your heart desires!

    I wouldn't bust your chops about losing gold because if you're not losing gold, you're not mining. I would suggest you mine your dining room table though. There appeared to be several bits of gold scattered around the table top from your cleanup efforts. I mined my homemade mini-sluice when I took everything apart at the end of the season and the nooks and crannies gave up almost a tenth of a gram to add to my take. There's something to be said about mining your mining equipment.

      Lol that's not gold that's credits! You havent had gold since 1934ish as they stole everyone's gold/silver and exchanged it for CREDITS. hence Debit/Credit which is bogus money to begin with and now there is a world wide financial reset going on which means that gold/silver wont be used as the basis for CREDITS anymore. Already in canada you can see their bullying bullshit as they are offering financial freedom if you take the covid shot. And people are letting it take place. So sad what the world is coming too. Dont beleive what I'm saying then check out the georgian stones it clear states that the population needs to be 500,000,000. The current population is 6 billion. Hang on for the ride cause education has been tossed right out the window by world leaders. They cant rule shit if you can read or write and ask questions. Slave world is coming. Sorry for writing this but it's happening and no one is stopping it from occurring everyone is to busy working or occupied by the political bs that's going on now while your all side tracked from social media and or mass media which is run by the government which in turn is run by the builderberg or whatever name they use nowadays your all being led down a path that's corrupted so those in power have control over the people and it's just going to get worse.

      @The Midnight Messenger if you look up merkaba you'll find that they can pick up the activation of this energy already on military radar. The military is much more advanced then what you mention here. Most of what you say I all ready knew. But there are some things you mention I did not. Very cool with the bible verses and it's its descriptive content in regards to what you mention and I have already mentioned some of these things to many a people already. Thanks for the new info. Also be safe and stay anonymous, people like us will be hunted once more. Although I'm not sure if you knew about it yet but within the military and those who run the planet currently are "sleepers for the higher powers than those who are currently controlling the earth". Also be aware that a massive army is coming to fix things here however I'm not sure at the "time frame" with which it is to occur. I'm not sure if I'll be alive to see it or not. But I do know that our current leaders are nowhere near equipped to deal with what is coming eventually. I can tell you that they are most unhappy with the events occurring at the present time. I am here for several different things but the one I hoped to achieve may be out of reach for me in this life time. I wanted to open a place to all who have gifts to teach them how to use and develop their gifts. Many do not know some do but do not use them to the fullest of potential. I recommend you quit using the name of Jesus as it was written in the bible that he had another name in the heavens and that anyone calling upon his earthly name will not be answered. There is a reference point to his heavenly name in the bible however I'm sure you can find it all on your own. The only hint I will give you is 40 days and nights. With this you will find the reference in the bible to show you his true name. If you already know about the two reference points to which I'm referring you already know his true heavenly name. If not then you will have to recheck the bible once again. If your using his earthly name so you blend in then I understand completely. To have the holy spirit is to know the heavens, to know the heavens is to know the holy spirit lol. Sorry it's so cryptic but i must remain this way till i am guided to do other wise. People flock to religion when they should heard towards spirituality. Spirituality is not religion however all religion teaches about spirituality, I'm so sad to see that 90% of the worlds population have this backwards. The bad must happen as was predicted in order for any good to come to the earth know it or not they just want you to fear and be slaves and now they arent shy about showing it and so I must remain low key for now. Peace be with you and also the spiritual knowledge of brothers and sisters of the heavens. For what is to come shall come and those who caused it shall be removed from existence forever more my friend. I fear not for better things are to come they can do what they want with this bag of bones but have my soul they can not for I'm already predestined to do other things in other places. Spreading the good word of the heavens is what I will continue to do until I'm asked to do something else or until this body perishes. I already have been shown where I'm going next and I have to say it's going to be my pleasure to be there when the time comes.

    For anyone wondering, assuming the low price of gold this video was made, 1 gram would be $50.16CAD
    In the 1 hour he sluiced for, he got 1.336 grams which totalled to $67CAD
    Assuming he got the same amount per hour he would have had 10.688 grams in 8 hours, or $536.12CAD per DAY
    If he did this for an average working WEEK (40hr/5 days) he would have 53.44g/1.71oz, or $2,681.25CAD
    In an average working MONTH (240hr/20 days) he would have 213.76g/6.87oz, or $14,321.92CAD
    In an average working YEAR (1920hr/240 days) he would have 2.565 KG/5.65lb or $141,183.18CAD

    At the time of my viewing this, my calculations at the gold price per gram right now comes to $79.77 per hour! That’s a pretty good job you have there sir!
    I just recently got a mine lab gold pan set. I took it camping with me a few weeks ago and had a absolute blast trying my hand at panning! I panned for several hours, didn’t really have a clue about what I was doing besides watching you and a couple other UA-camrs. I did come home with some gold albeit, not enough to even bother weighing. In my defense though the water is still raging pretty good from the spring runoff and everywhere there would have been exposed bedrock was under water still and had to work some of the very small sand/ rock bars. Never the less I had a ton of fun finding actual gold and my little daughter was super impressed! She says to me “wow! We’re billionaires!” Lol I can’t wait to go again! A lot of work but we’ll worth the fun!

      You look for areas with dark material in the sand. There are also places where the water will slow down; like looking down stream the water turns to the left, the right side of the stream bank will have the gold. This is where the water slows down. Wherever the water turns, there is a place to check, and under a water fall. Any place where the stream goes over bedrock, look in the cracks, and behind big rocks. Watch the embankment for layers of black sand. Look for places that is flat and the stream zigs back and forth.

    keep in mind that you have to also then calculate the purity of the gold after all this. sure it would take 3 days to get an ounce of raw gold, but depending on the average purity of the gold in that particular area, the exact worth of that gold could vary drastically.

      @Danhurd  5 років тому +3

      Yes, you run the risk. I used to put a pan over the end on both stop and start. never lost anything on stopping, and only a tiny bit on start up. Our typical procedure when running for long hauls it to keep running and swapping off diggers as one needs a break. Each time we stop do a quick clean up. makes more cons, but the gold cube goes through the cons fast.

      it's the silt they don't wont going into the river - these rivers have salmon and other fish eggs that can be killed by silt in the river at the wrong time of year

    • @ultralightnative
      @ultralightnative 2 роки тому +7

      The silt is the problem. Silt fills all the nooks and crevasses in the river and clogs out out the homes to aquatic life like bugs and things. All of the voids between the rocks and under decaying matter like leaves and logs are super beneficial for hiding and food resourses. With out those voids you kill the first step in the food chain, as a result everything else dies.

    Hey Mr. Dan, first off I really enjoy your videos. You seem like a really smart, upbeat and positive guy! I live in Sacramento, CA and had a random thought yesterday about if people still pan for gold near me, since I'm in the heart of the original gold rush in 1849. Hence, I stumbled upon your channel.
    I know just north east of where I live gold is still available in and around the rivers that tail off from the Sierra Nevada's, especially the American river. However, I'm wondering, even though gold is an incredibly rare metal and rarely is found in large quantities, do you know if there are any untapped or less frequently panned areas in northern California? Maybe that sounds like a dumb and obvious question, since CA has been so heavily mined and panned for 170 years, but I'm just wondering if its even worth starting to pan in those areas.
    Thanks!

    • @elliottdiedrich3068
      @elliottdiedrich3068 2 роки тому +1

      Anyone who has been able to watch a river at all knows that during spring run-off or right after a decent storm, the river will turn murky; yet, the fish survive and even thrive in that environment. Therefore, the reasoning behind a law that prevents people to do what nature itself does, can only mean that the government is against the people and does not want them to benefit from their own natural resources.
