  • Hey guys!
    PLEASE READ: At timestamp 20:18 and on I have two captions that are incorrect. Basically, you want the washers on the same side as the line build up to push the worm shaft and line guide away from that side and prevent the line build up. TLDR put the washers on the same side as the line build up. Cheers all!
    In this video we will be tearing down and looking at some fixes for the Histar Aurora Air. Since the reel has come down in price it is definitely worth looking at as its performance is better than the current Soloking Acura Pro. I would consider it taking the crown as the new potential budget bfs king. However, I have noticed that my two copies have had poorly shimmed handle knobs, an improperly setup star drag stack and improperly shimmed worm shaft/line guides. In the video we will address all of these issues. So, if you have these problems or just want to see what the internals of the Histar Aurora Air is like then sit back and enjoy the video, warning it’s a long one lol. If you have any questions or comments please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below and thanks as always for watching!

      Я заказал себе такую вчера , долго выбирал, но , с учётом оплаты доставки , а также с учётом налоговых сборов - данная катушка обошлась мне в 62 доллара . И всё же я считаю , что это неплохая цена . Я примерно так и рассчитывал.

    In my initial testing of the reel I say if definitely casts as far the silver feather with the lightest lures I personally use, might even be a bit farther tbh. But the SF is more beginner friendly and forgiving. Then again it's triple the price too...

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  28 днів тому

      Hey Jacob! Try cranking your brakes on the SF to maybe 2.5 and then cast super hard. You’ll get those light lures to go even farther than the AA. I’m actually kind of hoping that this new ve2 pro will be cheaper and cast the same as the SF but only time will tell. I honestly have a bit of a hard time recommending the AA if people have to potentially dig into it so far but it does cast quite well even with line lay issues. It’s a bit of a cautious recommendation with a caveat and disclaimer lol. Cheers my friend!

    Just a tip, if you are serious about having all your gear with 0 sloopiness just get a gap feeler gauge, it's very cheap and you know what to order if you don't want to stock a lot of washers.

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  28 днів тому +1

      Hey Ricardo! Ah are you talking for the handle knobs? I’ve got some gapping tools for spark plugs but I just haven’t bothered to use them for this type of thing. Tbh, I usually just replace handles instead of bothering with shimming. Good tip though! Cheers my friend!

    You have to place the washer of the worm shaft on the right side to move the winding more to the right. This is how I optimized my Aurora Air

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  28 днів тому +2

      Hey creek! The way I think of it is where the line lay is building up. If your line lay is building up too much on the right side then it means your line guide and worm shaft is too biased to that side. The fix would be to push the line guide and worm shaft towards the left by shimming the right side. So actually yes you are correct. Looking back at the text I put I think I actually left the opposite instructions. I’ll leave a pinned comment and edit the description to reflect this. Thanks for picking up on that! I actually did exactly what we just talked about in the video and then wrote the opposite lol. Cheers my friend!

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  26 днів тому

      Hey Jeff! Just want to make sure that you’re talking about the brake side plate? There should be a lever on the bottom that you need to flip to the open position. 25:53 Where will this part, including the spring, be assembled?

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  23 дні тому

      Hey user! It looks like you are referring to the washer? These will basically go on the same side that the line is bunching up on the spool. They will act to move the line guide away from the side that it is spending too much time on(ie heavily biasing the line lay). As far as the spring is concerned, I not sure which spring you are referring to. Any chance you can clarify? Cheers my friend!

    hopefully they can figure out the issues at the factory. it sucks having to mod a reel even at this price. alot of people i know dont like to tinker with their reels and id imagine they'll criticize the company.

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  27 днів тому

      @@IronMikeyT hey Mikey! Yea I completely agree and it’s why I never really recommended the reel when it first came out. Mine had so many issues that I just sidelined it altogether… However, as it’s started to be sold for so cheap and because its performance is so good I thought I’d buy a second at the lower price to see how it might have improved. Sadly, I think some of these still have some issues and so I thought I’d put this video out to help those that encounter these problems… I still won’t wholeheartedly recommend the reel but it’s hard to deny how well it can cast. Hey Patrick! Haha yea… actually I spooled up the reel afterwards and it turned out ok. • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  28 днів тому +1

      @@patrickhartman6818 hey Patrick! Yep! In that case you’re almost forcing a line lay bias by having the reel sideways. Откровенно говоря , емли это и есть недочеты этой катушки , то я считаю их просто незначительными . Те катушки которые есть у меня я делал все то же самое , и независимо от цены , пересбор и точная подгонка перед использованием , во время и после продолжительного использования сродни проверки зазоров клапанов в двигателе . Т.е - я считаю что нсли вам необходимо подложить пару шайб регулировки где то - то это не страшно. Вы берете продукт , и подгоняете его под своё ухо и тактильные ощущения . Вот и всё.

      Hey toong! I somewhat agree with you regarding doing your own “pretune” for reels to make the tolerances even better. However, many folks do not have the comfort to do this type of work. Also, really these reels should come with better tolerances and no need to fix issues like a poorly shimmed line guide. I hope Histar addresses these issues soon. Cheers my friend!
