With the last technique (thumb in front of finger) I find it much easier to play in a jacket. I used the thumb behind the finger for many years. It worked really well until the gig required a jacket. The sleeve killed the note. Then one day in St Louis I watched Mr. Emmons warm up for about twent minutes. He was wearing a cordaroy jacket. His chimes sounded like Sunday morning in church. That little thumb change causes the sleeve to rise up out of the way. Hard to learn, but worth it.

Thought I saw a ring finger trick a few times and wondered how people did it! Time to practice
