People. Whether you support or dislike Israel, that doesn't change the fact that this was the greatest hostage rescue in history. Get that through your heads and stop always trying to label everything as propaganda
I agree with Chase Kaplan and I'm agnostic. Any more excuses?
evansusmc Exactly. Not to mention that I'm an atheist. So I have no clue what this idiot is on about. It is simply the most incredible hostage rescue story. If I'm not mistaken, many counter terror units use this operation as reference when training soldiers
argo?
@@stormyweather9570 yah i noticed that and deleted it shortly into the movie. When the hostage taker stood up and said "We are humanitarians, We don't want to hurt anyone" I just laughed and deleted it.
@@77Avadon77 if you kept watching, the male terrorist explains that Israel turned into Nazi Germany so the freedom fighting PLO has no choice but to fight them. Which is a bunch of crap.
Anything with Daniel Brühl is worth watching. He's a great/underrated actor. Deserves more roles and recognition.
he was an awesome actor.
Did he turn bad or something? I think he still is a good actor.
Yup :)
🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷!!!.
Overrated
Spoiler: And just for good measure the Israelis blew up all of Idi's MIG fighters parked at the air field so they couldn't pursue the rescue planes. Greatest rescue/in-your-face military operation ever.
The FILM IS ABSOLUTE SHIT ❗️does no justice to the BRAVE , COURAGEOUS, EXPERTLY PLANNED OPERATION... absolute garbage complete and utter waste of time 🤷🏼♂️😡
@RUB1 Tan In the original film מבצע יונתן (Mivtza Yonatan), they're doing an amazing job portraying the bravery and bringing life to the story. Highly recommended, just in case you haven't watched it.
They didn't show the Migs being blown up in the film.
Cuz they were in the way
One of the flaws of this movie, action scene to short
41 years and a thousand different rescue attempts have passed and this STILL is the single greatest hostage rescue EVER pulled off.
Could you think for a second that these people didn’t want to kill the Israelis and were only trying to do the right thing?
@@drequploads6142 one elderly female hostage was taken to a hospital outside of the airport because she had chocked on a chicken bone, as a result, she was not rescued and was left behind. They killed her in retaliation for the rescue mission's success.
So no, I don't think that the hijackers or their enablers were doing the right thing
Entebbe raid is all Lies, all staged
Do you think everyone is stupid
and yet its still a land that David would be ashamed of
he will be very very proud. Israeli don't need a lecture of mortality from no one. @@dahmergoldstien
Operation Thunderbolt also known as operation yonathan. As a child, I used to imagine myself as a sayaret matkal commando, as I played with my airsoft pistol, rescuing imaginary hostages. My dad told me this story when I was young and believe me or not this story is singlehandedly the reason I want to join the armed forces. I am a doctor and my army exams will be next year. Damn the goosebumps. love you Israel such brave and brilliant people you have. Love from India. Shalom brothers and sisters ☺️
Hey! Did you later join the army? ☺️
@soumyaruprov8974 you Indians are absolutely obsessed with all things Israeli - are you ever going to explain why?
U joined Army?
Indians meanwhile just show fake bravado in their silly Bollywood movies, but got their asses kicked in Kandhahar IC814 episode by a handful of PK terrorists ! Great job indeed !!

This story is legendary and needs to be retold over and over again
@historicrecord well there is a film made about it at least three times a decade so you wish is kind of granted !
I remember these words while I was watching a documentary about this daring mission:
"...we heard gunshots... then we heard men speaking Hebrew..."
Broght me to tears
I was a double for yael levy and I'm so happy to see the trailer is finally out! We filmed it almost 2 years ago and its an experience I will truly never forget :)
Great for you!
my dad played a small intel role in the planning because he knew the airport inside out. We left Kampala in 72. When we came to the US my dad bought a brand new 1972 Chevy impala because he liked the name. During the same 7 days my dad was helping the Israelis in a sequestered location and he could not leave until the mission was over.
With immense respect to you and your family
@silentvoiceinthedark5665 well when it comes to sucking Israeli dick you Americans are in a league of your own !
Thank your father very much
@@adinapertsovsky227 My father passed away in 2012, the hospital was filled with people that came to see him from far away before he died. One was the son of an Israeli judge. I dont remember what the reason was but it was related to the hostages and their family from July 1976
The hostage rescue was incredibly brave and impressive, Idi Amin was a fucking madman

Coz chuck norris was der 🤣
the first two films were memorable to me. saw them as a kid, with my dad. i still love the first two films (Bronson's and the Israeli produced). it's the tactical planning and staging i love the most.
To me, Raid on Entebbe was arguably the best. This one, a revisionist piece of Scheiße. The worst part: how they downplayed Yoni Netanyahu's role.
Best special force in history.
Yeah Israeli special forces are really one of the best....but some of the credit in this rescue mission also goes to Mossad
Three letters, SAS.
Ever heard of para sf?
Well love to Israel from india❤️

Yes indeed in movies..
This happened when i was 9 years old, I was so amazed and intrigued by it that i devoured every news or magazine article and then every documentary about it. Afterwards I researched the history of the state of Israel post 1948 and came away with a huge respect for Israeli people and the IDF. Hamas and Hezbollah sympathizers can say what they wan, but no one else in the middle east can come close to what the Israelis have accomplished with their industry, tenacity and ingenuity. They've earned their country.
Wow this is one of the greatest rescue operation in the world.
As an India I felt same kind of operation had to carried out during Kandahar Hijack but saddened after events.
RIP Yonatan "Yoni" Netanyahu, my hero! Your name never dies! Love from India
A brave MAN indeed!

The freeing the hostages scene is so intense. NOT 1 single film made me put my hands on my hand like this one.
Saw this the other night. It could have had more depth on the human element and how miraculous the rescue was but the political dimension between Rabin and Peres was great. I'd recommend the film.
Rosamund Pike is horribly underrated. She's great.
who underrated Rosamund Pike? send him to Gulag!
Spoiler Alert: Yoni Netanyahu who is brother of Current PM of Israel was leading the mission and unfortunately he died in this mission. He died with valour and he was still shouting commands after he was shot and was bleeding heavily.
"Netanyahu returned to Israel in 1978 to found the Yonatan Netanyahu Anti-Terror Institute, named after his brother Yonatan Netanyahu, who died leading Operation Entebbe."

Shot by Ugandan soldiers firing from the control tower.
Yoni is probably rolling in his grave if he knew what his brother was doing these days.
Hope that corruption case nails Bibi to the goddamn wall (but only after my taxes go down).
And Bibi's been coasting on that ever since.
Rafi Broer yes taking us from 50 to 18 on the UN's Human Development Index, making Israel the second innovative economy in the world by GCR, demolished almost all Monopolys that plaged the Israeli economy for decades, fostering a government of free trade, yes indeed yonni is rolling in his grave...

The ending of this film was the biggest anti climax I've ever seen. The whole film is detailed, right up until the point of the raid. The most important part. Then for some reason, its rushed, and most annoyingly, intertwined with some millennial inspired artitustic dance troupe piece. It just fucking ruins what was a great true to life film.
rest in peace , Yoni !
THE ENDING IS INSANE
LOVED IT
that is the dumbest ending of a film I have ever seen in my life.
Already censored in: Egypt, Libya, Uganda, any Muslim majority country or history denying country really
Probably in Europe too

This kind of historical rescue operation episode will be remembered for generations to generations as long as this planet earth in existence.
Oh yeah!
My Mom talked of how this event was kind of pushed to the side, because it fell on the day of our Bicentennial. Greatest commando raid in history...
lol, you just announced to the world what a gulllible idiot you are.
But Sean is correct. I was 18 when this took place, and I even still have the newspaper front page from July 4 1976. The HEADLINE at the TOP is ALL about the USA's Bicentennial Celebrations. Those main celebrations not only took place that day, but there were months and even YEARS of build-up, nationwide, preparing citizens for 7/4/76. Thus, when the Entebbe hostage rescue took place, it was actually a secondary story, wayyyyy down closer to the bottom of the page.
While Europe and the Middle East were all over this story, treating it like a huge thing, at the time it was scarcely noticed in the USA, all because by coincidence of the July 4 date.
I was born March 28th 1976 our bicentennial of our country. I'll probably go watch this movie
both were celebrated !!!! remember about a year earlier May '75 , debacle in viet nam was ending !!! pushing helicopters overboard ; watregate !!! ect.... country needed a shot in the arm !!!

Just listened to a five hour podcast documentary about Idi Amin. When I listened to the episode about the Entebbe rescue, I thought, what an amazing story, if nobody has made a movie about this, they need to. And then I search online and find this... 24% on Rotten Tomatoes. Two great actors, a fantastic story, an amazing ending, and a budget to shoot it, and apparently the filmmakers were still able to fumble the ball. What a shame. Now, I haven't watched it yet, and likely will anyway just to see for myself, but bad movies have been made about great stories time and time again... it's almost like it should be against the law.
Curious, what podcast?
@@mylifeisJDM its a podcast called "Real Dictators". I've really enjoyed the ones I've listened to so far.

@EmilChristensenHeaon perhaps if "you people" leave the Palestinian people alone to get on with their lives then perhaps they may not be so keen in hijacking planes in the first place.

Whatever may be your opinion on Israel be ,you gotta respect their work like these.
I hope they're planning to turn that incorrect Airbus A310 into an A300 in post-production. The A310 did not exist at the time of the hijacking in 1976, and the variant shown in the preview (note the forked wingtip fences) didn't enter service until 1985.
The other day i watch Finding steve Mcqueen , new movie but is 1972 in the movie and show a Robinson R44 not invented until 1990, movies has a lot of mistakes...

This is a remake of the movie "Raid On Entebbe" with Charles Bronson(1977). This is a classic in which the Israelis save Israelis in Uganda, but unfortunately Yonatan Netanyahu(Benjamin's brother) was killed just as they were leaving the airport. (1976)I am curious what "facts or details" have been updated or changed? I remember this as I was U.S. Secret Service in Wash.D.C. at the time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yonatan_Netanyahu

I remember this! I remember how bad ass the Israeli Special Forces were. This was such a huge under taking, far greater than the Munich Games rescue.
I'm pretty sure that Chuck Norris already did this movie.
No, he just copied "Raid on Entebbe" and "Operation Thunderbolt" from 1976/1977. Both movies were based on this daring raid. But "Delta Force" was a "Cannon Films"-production by Menahem Golan, who was also the director of "Operation Thunderbolt", the first Israeli movie about this.
Delta force was inspired by this event
Actually Charles Bronson did it.
Tom is exactly right.
Not so much inspired, as fear of a bloody disaster prodded the government to create Delta Force. The prod of fear is not the same as the clean breath of inspiration. Delta Force wasn't initially as successful as the Israelis, though. The failure of the rescue of the American Embassy staff in Tehran forced some critical rethinking.
Does anyone know where can i download it from? The movie never came to Bulgaria.
as an israeli i feel proud to see this! it shows me my country will not give up on me and would go anywhere to save me.

I am so glad I found this movie I was trying to find this movie for like a year
help me on something: I keep hearing the movie really wasn't very good and that the Israeli soldiers were made to look like bumblers and that the whole seen was 5-10 min max on the raid. Somewhere else I heard that the 7 min theme was high point of movie. Is that your opinion? While I love Rosamund Pike, I don't want to watch this if it's a crapper (despite the good intentions of a more modern making of this event).
Even if this was meant to be propaganda the stuff that happened during this was so crazy you wouldn't need to fabricate much to make an interesting story.
With true stories like this there is no need to make stuff up. This truth makes a great story.
Indeed. Sometimes, life is better than art.
The true events were more spectacular than any propaganda
Delta, its not made by Israelis, so not sure what kind of propaganda you think it is. Movies were already made on this operation.

Hello bro I am also Karnataka
Spoiler: The passengers and crew survived, returned to Paris
Not all of them.
And they returned to Israel not France
At least that's what happened historically
spoiler, the leader of the raid team died.
the leader of the raid team died who was the elder brother of current Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and he was also part of the raiding forces.
Unfortunately, one of the hostages - an old lady, Israeli born in Romania - was sick, and couple days before the raid, she was transferred to a hospital in Entebbe. After the raid, an enraged Idi Amin ordered her to be killed. The Israeli soldiers knew nothing about her whereabouts, but even if they knew, it was impossible to save her at the moment of the raid... I know this from a book written, after the raid, by Arno Hilf, another Israeli born in Romania, who also was among the hostages at Entebbe. The book was translated in Romanian a decade ago, and it was the first time for me to hear about this famous commando operation.
Boy, I guess Rosamund Pike really wants to diversify her roles....
Looking forward to this film.
I have so much respect for Prime Minister Netanyahu after watching this, the loss he must have gone through from losing his brother must have been unimaginable. God bless him and God bless Israel.
He's a hateful right wing nutcase. Can't wait until he leaves the world stage.
