Finally got my books right. Turns out, it's a lot harder to carve a 1x1 than a 2x2. Been loving watching your videos and the whole YT carving community. Just started on Christmas when the family got me some basswood and a knife. I'm 50 and plan to hike the Appalachian Trail, or part of, with my daughter next year. Leaving wood spirits along 2200 miles from Georgia to Maine is the goal. Thank you Doug
Something I’ve always wanted to do -been watching too many hiking documentaries lol
@@dougLinker Go for it Doug! I'll give ya some trail magic, and hike along a spell, when you pass through PA.
@@bdickinson6751 Hey, what about me??? 😂 Rocksylvania is hard on the knees. Trail Magic waiting for you in CT. HST
@@mayatuck Of course! I'd just need to know when you're in the area. Hawk is easy to follow unlike some hikers. However, I do understand their apprehension. I knew I recognized your name from somewhere.
You're the man Doug. It's like Christmas morning every time I see a new Linker video. Keep it up!
Glad to hear you're safe, happy, & healthy. I got worried yesterday not seeing you. ❤️
With no explanation for your disappearance I am truly glad you're doing well.
"Cupid is out killing people"... 🤣
Too funny Doug! Great video as always.
Thank you Doug Watching your wood carving videos reminds me of my Uncle. He did every thing with just a pocket knife.. He made the ball inside the cage, chains. etc.
Wonderful Doug ..Have done a few of these in my lifetime ..very fun ..Thank you Doug for sharing
Thank you so much Doug! Loved to hear “ I had fun again”! Great to See you again! Appreciate you! Thanks🙏
Then you'll have a broken heart. Wah Wah.... LOL This was cool! Nice thing to wake up to. Thanks Doug!!
Thanks Doug I made one for my wife and couldn't wait to give it to her. She was tickled that I would make something cute and "romantic". Married 41 years, you're never too old to do the little things to make them smile!
Huh, I never knew you could do that very cool. I learned something new today 😉
Thanks Doug 😊
Fun, but brilliant as always Doug. Keep the videos coming love them all.
Thanks Doug, still loving your work.
Thank you so much for your excellent videos. I was given a whittling "kit" for Christmas and this video of your inspired me to make a pair of hearts on an arrow for my wife for Valentines Day. Just finished it and all went well. Hope she likes it, it's our 50th wedding anniversary this year! Keep the videos coming and thanks again.
Hey Doug. I made this impossible whittle. I used bass wood for the spinner and used a harder wood for the stick. I used a pear tree branch and a maple tree branch. I love making these. Thanks for the video.
Hey Doug, thanks for yet another amazing video, just completed one for my wife (5 hearts, myself, our kids and our pets). Was wondering if I could save myself some hassle in the future and painted at least the hearts before combining.
Really cute and clever!
Greetings from the West Coast 🇨🇦
Hey Doug. I’m a longtime subscriber and love your work. I wanted to thank you for doing all the small whittle projects because they are not only fun but they are giving me tons of practice using my knives and practicing different cuts. Thanks again.
Good reason to buy some basswood. That is a cute little project❤
Been watching your work since Xmas and did this carving this week. I love what you are doing, sent a coffee donation as I would like to see more! Thanks for making this an enjoyable new hobby, which I have been wanting to do for some time. All the best!
I have been enjoying your channel for years now, and you never fail to impress. Love everything you do, thanks for all you do to share and teach and enjoy the outdoors 🤠 Mike
Fun one, I just started on the hearts, will have to fudge some basswood for the arrow portion.
I remember the old video and forgot it. I had just started carving. I will do this now, have the wood and a small bandsaw. Was doing a lot with a copping saw before. Also want to say thanks for the video’s. Your 5 minute wizard is so much fun, I have carved hundreds out of sticks, basswood and yes even pencils😂
awesome, doug. thanks. been planning on doing one of these for my wife for valentine's day. you are so skilled and must have incredibly strong hands and sharp blades.
expert question:
i just got a flexcut vtool. the end appears to be magnetized. am i crazy? well, i'm probably crazy, but am i crazy for thinking the end is magnetized?
That was a neat little project- will have to try and make one for my Granddaughter this valentines day!
Cleverness made beautiful and entertaining. Always grateful for sharing your talented carving.
Brilliant, thanks Doug. I also liked the Easter bunny in the egg...
Doug you’re such a consummate craftsman and I enjoy your videos so much!!! I’m so happy that you’re going camping with a certain someone soon!!! It’s been too long...
Thank you , Mr Doug .
🐺
Thank you Doug. Your videos are a delight and an inspiration. I Greatly appreciate the things you do.
Thanks, I've made quite of few of these since I seen you do it a few years back. . My lastest is a round ( I call a washer) and made the straight look like a screw driver. Thanks again. 👍
Yeah!🥳 Doug time💚🇬🇧🌱
Are we not addressing the C&C divorce???
Loved this fun whittle the first time you showed us, nice too see advances in the concept 💚🇬🇧🌱
I believe your last comment on there was “unwatchable” Marc
@@dougLinker unfortunately the sound was a miss on the last episode & I couldn't hear you without being shouted at by Alec, I'm sure the content was class as always? I'll really miss you two together but equally excited to see your individual projects going forward💚🇬🇧🌱
Very cool project, I'll have to give this one a try sometime.
Very cool! I love it! ❤️ Thank you for the demonstration and information. All the best 👍 Peace and good fortune and good health to you and your family. 👌
Gonna get my Grankids to try and get this apart after Alex carves something up😆
Another great video. I'm going to try this right now. I love the idea of adding names to the hearts.
WOW !!! That's a lot of fun and sure my MRS will love that. Thanks buddy.
Dear Doug, greetings again from the Eifel region (germany), again a very nice carving video!
Hi Mr Doug … Iam new to your channel , I love you work you are so talented
You may already have a video, but I was wondering if you could do a simple fish? I’ve just recently started trying to whittle and carve and I would love to do a fish. In memory of my son. Ty kiM
Love it! Thanks Doug.
thank you for your videos. in one you showed a small adjustable measuring device. please what was the name and where to find? thank you
Thanks for sharing your secret with us Doug! 👍😁👍😁
Lol..this is great👍🏽 Thanks for the interesting whittle Doug!
Very cool project Doug. Thanks for sharing

Hello! WoW! Wow! You have an interesting channel. You are doing great. I wish you prosperity and success! God bless you and all your family! Good luck! 🍎🍏🍐🍑🍒
Hey Sir Doug. Thx for the vid. ✌ always good to hear from you.
Thanks for sharing that cool trick Doug 😎👍🏼
Very cool idea! Another to add to my saved list.
Going to have to make one of those for my granddaughter
Woohoo it’s a new Linker video. Much appreciated as always 😎
Happy New Year.
Thanks for the fun and inspiration.
Paint before or after assembly
How beautiful!! Any suggestions on how to do these if we don’t have the equipment with the saw?
Hand tools or friends? :)
An inexpensive coping, jeweler's or fret saw works fine. Takes just a bit longer but still quick
@@garrettswoodworx1873 ' thank you for the suggestions '
Very good job Doug look very nice.
I can’t wait to try this one. I need a band saw though.
Thanks Doug, that's fun. Awesome channel
Thank you
Great video young man and I will be doing this soon
Amazing Doug thank you ❤! 👏👏👏👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯
I was just wondering what’s the best place for me to buy basswood blocks if I want to try whittling
Thanks for everything. Love it.
Thank you. God Bless and stay safe.
Cool videos thank you
I was thinking it's about time for the valentine whittle!
Hi Doug, great little keepsake for Valentines. Quick one, i noted when you cut the 2 slices for the hearts you got little or no fuzz on the cut. What TPI have you got on your blade? My blade is sharp but leaves fuzz every time...but only on basswood. Thanks.
Try pushing the wood through the band saw blade slowly. You'll get a lot less fuzz. This is also a good tip for cutting trim with a miter box saw.
it's still there on mine just maybe not as visible, that's why i still needed to carve it off.on the others i just sanded to keep flat and smooth
@@dougLinker cheers Doug 👍🏻
Thanks man, really cool stuff.
As always, I enjoy your videos.
Can warm water be used to reduce soaking time?
So neat pretty cool happy Valentine’s Day
How neat ❤
Cool Doug
Your stuff is always so fun!
That’s why you continue to be one of my favorite teachers.
Thank you.
Doug that was cute.
Great video Doug thanks does it have to be basswood could it be pine wood?
Pine does not react like the Basswood
Thanks!
So cool!
I have the same scrap paper.
Awesome !!! 🏹🏹
Facsinating!
Will do
Is this hot water or cold ?
❤❤❤❤
Where's a good place to find Basswood in Ontario? I just moved to Smiths Falls, so my only known source at the moment is Lee Valley and those little blocks are pricey 😁
You can try a sawmill or order online -i get some from Moore roughouts in the states and the shipping is pricey but it’s really nice stuff
KJP Hardwoods in Ottawa
@@dougLinker Thanks! :D
@@ericsunstrum5380 Awesome. That's only 50 minutes from here :D
Rad!
i just made a fidget spinner of wood and water. no one should be this powerful🗿
These arrows will surely make them quiver with joy.
Lol
👍👋
Are the four hearts on the arrow for our polygamist friends?
If you have some..sure -or your kids lol
That's a Awesome idea!! Gonna give it a try and thanks for the idea .. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🪓🔪👍👍
