Loved it last August. Most beautiful trip ever. Did it on my own, recommend it. Expensive but worth it. Gold leaf magic. Wish I could go again. Hosts were outstanding. Everything outstanding. 💚💚💚💚💚
Did this in 2013 on gold class, other than mountain peaks even upstairs couldn't see much for the trees. Train was held up several times by large freight trains and we were very late into one of the evening stops. The staff were first class though and the chefs made up a dinner out of odds and ends. I would say it was an adventure in itself and would do it again just to enjoy the drama and delays.
The LIRR- the Long Island Railroad is owned by the MTA, Metropolitan Transit Authority of New York, which also operates the Metro North Railroad and from what I know, in terms of passengers Metro North is the largest railroad in North America and LIRR is second, but neither are privately owned railroads. The Rocky Mountaineer can indeed lay claim to (atleast) being the largest privately owned passenger railroad in North America.
But who owns the tracks in the rocky mountains? The mountaineer must be paying massive fees to use the line.-too bad they screwed their long time employees, I was going to plan a trip until I heard that.
too bad they locked out staff and had scab hires take over. How dare people ask for over time pay.The CEO is far removed from reality.I hope everyone gets their job back.

It seems like the average age is 55 on that train.
true of any 'luxury' train journey I've been on around the world (well...Europe, NZ, and North America)
Guys, your rates are out of mind. That's why smart Canadian citizens spend money on vacations always abroad.
i dont spend my money on broads .
I'd rather take the Canadian
