The Canadian Rocky Mountains provide some of the best vistas in the world. We’ve been lucky enough to ride Gold Leaf on the Rocky Mountaineer from Banff to Vancouver. Thx for providing wonderful memories. Would love to go back to Canada. 🇨🇦
My husband and I took this trip from Vancouver to Banff. Beautiful scenery, great food, a great experience. It's spectacular everyone should take this trip if you love Nature.
I am going to take this trip in May. I am really looking forward to it. By the way, would you kindly recommend to me which side of the train is better for seeing the great view during the trip? Right side or left side?
Thank you for this wonderful production. As I live in Australia, doing this trip was on my bucket list for many years. In 2005, I finally got to do this trip of a lifetime. It was so amazing that I did it again in 2014. Now, I am ready to do it again. This truly is a magical journey. Just do it! 💖
Wow, Hello from Ontario Canada. Love the video and love Rockies. I always say to truly appreciate Canada and being Canadian you need to visit Canadian Rockies!!! I have been there, traveled by motor home, it amazing experience, I recommend for anyone! The views, Rockies, God's creations are breath taking to see! It was a wonderful tour on the train, I am already planning the trip by rail on the Rocky Mountaineer!!!! :) I just want to say I also wished in the video you showed MORANIE LAKE in Banff National Park, its breath taking, so beautiful view of the Rockies and turquoise color of Moraine Lake! xx Beata
I have taken numerous train trips including the Canadian using VIA Rail between Vancouver and Jasper and had some of the same experiences as the Rocky Mountaineer. I only saw the Rocky Mountaineer train along part of my trip that originated from St. Louis and back in 2009. I really enjoyed your video. I had heard this old Canadian Pacific route was even more scenic, as both routes are great.
Wow! Thank you sooo much for showing me such amazing places in Canada.Ive never traveled on a train. But if I ever do. This would be the trip I would want to take. It was just breathtaking. ❤️
I would truly love this train ride! I have always enjoyed watching Tanya always so upbeat and positive and absolutely gorgeous! Loved this video, thanks!
A trip worth taking for sure. Unfortunately my wife and I were on the trip (June 24 & 25) that was unable to travel all the way to Calgary due to the flooding which took place before. Her disappointment was not getting the opportunity to see Lake Louise and the wonderful scenery of Banff. Hopefully we'll get a chance to travel the route we missed out on at a later time. Nevertheless, we had a truly wonderful time. Thank you Team Rocky Mountaineer. From: Hazel & Philip - Barbados
I agree with shandrrill13. I was a trucker for 50 years all over North America . This is one of the best travel videos I've seen. Never a dull moment with Tanya ,lol. The only thing she missed was that old B.C. tradition of grisly bear wrestling. Where's your Canadian sporting spirit . lol We have to show how tough our Canadian women are .. All kidding aside, extremely well done video.
I know this route inside and out. Halfway through the video at 20:00 only a fraction of the mountain scenery was shown, but a few things did get shown around 22:30. Having lived across BC all my life and in Banff for many years, a little known story is Marilyn came back here many times to escape Hollywood, as have dozens and dozens of movie stars. At 29:10, the Lady says it is summer, but it is not, the amount of snow around Lake Louise and the frozen lake indicates it is late spring, around early May. The lake, and many others like it nearby, becomes ice-free around June 1, and most of the snow melts, temperatures average about 25C/75F in summer, sometimes more. Thanks for the video, overall very good.
You are absolutely correct. The show was shot mid/late May. Lake was beginning to thaw. As for Marilyn I can see why she's want to escape Hollywood for such a beautiful place. I would too!
David Moore how does it work exactly. I mean logistically. Is it one way or round trip. If it's one way how do you get back? I went to the website and they seem to be a one way journey type of show although you can go back but the cost seems unknown. You start in Vancouver and end in Calgary 7 days later so how do you get back to where you want to be after the trip is done?
Did this trip last August with my wife , but from Bamf to Kamloops ( stayed over night )and then on to Vancouver.. the trip was fantastic, the scenery to die for. We did the Gold leaf thing and travelled like kings and queens. If there was anything that was going to upset our trip of a life time is was going to be a lack of service. This meant one thing ! No drinks in gold leaf... On both days in the afternoon the staff were not to be seen or very few and far between. I was also told that the dishwasher had broken down and that there was a lack of glasses. well ! Mmmmmm. There was another 20 to 30 guest upset too..... Just thought I would put it out there as this trip is not cheap.
I took this trip last summer some days you are on the train more than 10-12 hours so when you arrive at the great destinations you read about most things are CLOSED Another thing they don't tell you until you are on the train 95% of the other trains you will see have the right of way so this can put you on a side track for significant amount of time...
The scenery could have been better filmed, but they showed some in the Fraser Canyon and right at the very end of the train trip in the Rockies, and quite a bit around Banff.
Is there a dress code for the gold leaf car? With the gold leaf service, are alcoholic beverages complimentary or a la carte? Do employees expect to be tipped at some point?
Trying to decide what package to book, so I am watching for the third time, this was such an enjoyable Video, I also need to know when is the best time as my husband , has to be in warmer weather. when is the best warm weather time to visit?
+joliettraveler Very good observation. I think we had to wait probably about three times. Surrounded by the beautiful scenery I don't think we gave it much thought.
I work on those freight trains and "Rocky" (which is what we call it) gets well looked after by the controllers. It's also a short train so fits in all sidings so it doesn't get delayed much.
Via Rail operates a train from Vancouver to Jasper........Banff's twin town 300 km north ........... which duplicates another route of the RM, and Via continues on to Edmonton and Toronto. It uses beautiful and historic 1950's silver railcars, and does have overnight sleeping cars and a dining car. The Rocky Mtns end just east of Banff and Jasper and the route from there to Toronto is across the 2000 km wide grasslands of the Great Plains and the 2000 km wide rock, forest and lake country of Ontario.
I have been interested in taking this tour for many years. Nice, but for some reason Tanya seemed very condescending. I'm sure it's just me, but it over-shadowed the tour
I know this region , this route and this train extremely well. I don't think she was condescending, she was just being a dynamic hostess because for many people, it is the human element that counts the most in anything they do or experience. For others, including me, it is the nature and the scenery that is foremost. For others, both are equal.
Marilyn's time in Banff and Jasper is fairly well known locally as she is the most famous of hundreds of Hollywood Film Stars who have visited the region as an escape from the pressures of the L.A. film industry over the years. Bing Crosby - who also liked Sun Valley Idaho - was one of the first to visit in the late 1940's and it was likely he who made Banff and Jasper popular among Hollywood's actors and actresses.

My husband and I took this trip from Vancouver to Banff. Beautiful scenery, great food, a great experience. It's spectacular everyone should take this trip if you love Nature.
I wish I would visit One day , it would be my lifetime adventure Trip
I am going to take this trip in May. I am really looking forward to it. By the way, would you kindly recommend to me which side of the train is better for seeing the great view during the trip? Right side or left side?
My wife and I booked this train trip for our 25th wedding anniversary this year and we can't wait, it has been on my "bucket list" for a long time!
Thank you for this wonderful production. As I live in Australia, doing this trip was on my bucket list for many years. In 2005, I finally got to do this trip of a lifetime. It was so amazing that I did it again in 2014. Now, I am ready to do it again. This truly is a magical journey. Just do it! 💖

There has never been a "sport" of Grizzly Bear "wrestling" in BC or elsewhere in Canada.
Wow! What a ride! You can also take Via Rail from Edmonton through Jasper to Vancouver, though it would not be as luxurious.
From my childhood I have loved the treck from Vancouver to Calgary.
I just fall in love with Canada🇨🇦❤🇨🇦❤🇨🇦❤🇨🇦

Dream of going one day !
I like this
One of my dream...
A wonderful experience. With all the LIKING from Pakistan.
I'm so doing this!
OK. Food looks great, but I can get good food at home. I would be more interested in the scenery, the flora and fauna of the Canadian Rockies!!!
By the way, the scenery was breathtaking, and the critters amazing!!!
Karl Beilstein it’s all there. This is a fantastic experience in all of these areas.
The scenery could have been better filmed, but they showed some in the Fraser Canyon and right at the very end of the train trip in the Rockies, and quite a bit around Banff.
I would rather buy a home Theatre with big scree and watch these great places in the comfort of my home... works out to be so cheap.....
@33:29 It's fun when your food is trying to escape from you.
Im going to have to do this awesome
Is there a dress code for the gold leaf car?
With the gold leaf service, are alcoholic beverages complimentary or a la carte?

live wire hostess giving a good tour
Trying to decide what package to book, so I am watching for the third time, this was such an enjoyable Video, I also need to know when is the best time as my husband , has to be in warmer weather. when is the best warm weather time to visit?
Deb - May through September are good months with July and August being the hottest. Glad you enjoyed the video.
That’s how you travel in a dress all deck out. But to each their own. Maybe be a little more relaxed 👍
How to get a ride there?from Edmonton? How much the fare tickets? Is the foods is included for the fare?
Greetings from Alberta!
Wow let's start from from locky
The Blue Train!!
Like this!!
It would be interesting to know how many times they had to stop on a siding to wait for freight trains to pass. I noticed there was not a double rail.

i will book my in-laws now lol...
The only thing that I saw
That I did not like about the hole train ride is
I was not on that train
Are there any trips from Vancouver to Toronto, or would you need to make arrangements from banff?
Yes, on The Canadian, VIA a different train company.
