  • www.autobytel.c... The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is the newest venture into the subcompact market from Chevy. The Sonic replaces the old and outdated Aveo with a much better looking and performing package. The 2012 Chevy Sonic comes in 2 different body styles, a 4-door sedan style, and a 5-door hatchback which has some European flavor to it. On the inside the interior is pretty nice and there is ample room for adults.
For a subcompact car the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is a lot of fun to drive. There are 2 different engines but the one to get is the turbocharged 1.4 liter 4-cylinder that produces 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy is excellent at 29 MPG in the city and 40 MPG on the highway. The base model Chevy Sonic costs $13,735 and the top of the line 2LZ hatchback costs $18,495. But no matter which Sonic you purchase a few things are for certain, you will be getting a great looking car with wonderful fuel economy. And that is the real value of the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic.

I still have my 2012 Sonic LS, 43k miles, Cyber Gray Metallic. I haven't had any mechanical issues, just regular maintenance, oil changes, etc. I recently replaced basic factory radio with a Pioneer touchscreen. Still have extended warranty on car. My Sonic has been good to me.

Hey Steve, I have the same Car as mentioned. This is my first car my parents brought for me for my 17th birthday. I wanted to know what touchscreen did you use and where did you get it from? I plan to do the same soon.

I own this car and am 6'2" and have plenty of headroom (hatchback) - this is a pretty tall car. You should be good.

It'd probably get an extra couple mpg if that ginormous bowtie emblem on the front was downsized.

Umm, except it doesn't. This IS an Aveo.
Boy, am I glad Car & Driver is more plugged-in than you are. I'm also glad to own a Ford product.

The motor, might last that long IF you take care of it, however, the body will rust around you and you'll fall through the floor befor the motor dies.

Why shouldn't american car companies get into the sub compact market? I'm not sure where you're from, but in Michigan people arn't huge haha. Plus gas is no less than 4 bucks around here. This would be a nice car to have to get to work and maybe even cruise the windy roads of Rochester without dumping all that cash you would on a v8. If you a bigger car you can look forward to the new impala that most likely have all the goodies the pontiac g8 had. Do NOT quote me on that, just what i hear.

Americans want eco boxes now because our economy sucks and gas prices are too high. No more big cars. When you fill up the tank 2x a week it gets expensive. $100 a week $400 a month thats a car payment. The last time gas went up ppl bought motorcycles. They quickly learned hey you dont pay more attention you get hurt and when it rains you get wet and no coffee or cigarette while commuting. Not to mention the soaring prices of motorcycles. If prices were lower on eco cars they would sell more....
